Any reason why not doing IUP? I have option of IUP (1st time), or straight sale

I would like to, but failed last year when I tried (even when i work full time with no CCJ's). I guess Barclays are just extra cautious when it comes to 20yo's. I'm planning to keep the X for at least two years anyway, so not really bothered about the IUP. Though I do think it's a neat plan.

I can't find any information on CPW website about not locking it. How do you know?

This topic was covered in some depth early on in this thread. CPW no longer sim lock to the first sim. It was a practise they did in the past but no longer do.

This is from their website and from the numerous staff and agents I spoke to personally.

Since when? The tweet above is from May 2017, so have they recently changed the policy in the 5 months? It's just I can't find any documentation that clearly says that their phones don't lock to the first SIM.

Has anyone here had their delivery dates improve?

Many are reporting that their orders which had delivery scheduled for November 10th-17th have now been brought forward to launch day.

https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...-orders-with-improved-delivery-dates.2081335/

Seems like it's T-Mobile only.

Thanks for the information but I've decided to cancel my CPW order for the 3rd Nov and wait for my Apple order for 13th to 20th Nov.

It's too risky to to rely on various mix information just because of 3rd Nov delivery. I'm traveling to Nigeria over the Christmas period for 4 weeks and I'm not 100% sure the CPW iPhone X will work on the local sim.

I'll wait for another 1 week+ and be rest assured.

It will work, no worries. I got my 7+ from CPW, worked in quite a few countries with local sims.

I'm unsure what to do, with my bank I get mobile insurance with a £100 excess.

The AppleCare+ sounds good, I'm always super careful with my iPhone's anyway though, but always a risk suppose of screen and £25 excess sounds good. Like how's it's 0% as well.

I have saved up so have the money for a straight sale (funded fully after selling my current 7+)

Would mean I wouldn't have to be so super careful with it if handing back suppose, although not sure what the return standard is. mmmm......

Obviously I could get refused as well, although have daughter on IUP and son on the interest free, wonder if those would count against me, ie having total of 3 then

I Have had this case before but for the 7+, I will say that for the price it was great, very thin and will protect from light scratches but will give you 0 protection from anything else. Im thinking of getting one too again, I've bought a temporary cheap clear case to protect it till I decide what I want to do but the problem with the Tozo case or similar is that they aren't clear and for once I want to phone to show through completely. I'm therefore looking for the thinnest clear case I can find to show off the sexy stainless edge!
[doublepost=1509136099][/doublepost]Anyone looking to get a sale on their old phone, I just did an order to sell mine to Envirofone, a little less than some others but rather go with a trusted name. They lock the price in for 14 days and send you a pack to package the phone up to send to them.

Also if you use code EXTRA5 you get an extra 5% on top, so I got £380 for my 7+ 32gb

Because of the code you posted I went back to envirofone to do another sale using the code and cancel my first one. Then I thought I should see if my 7+ from 3 is locked. Turns out it’s unlocked. So your post has got me an extra £30 for my phone.

Thank you!

Does your banks' insurance cover accidental damage as well as loss/theft? I'm in a similar train of thought, need to look into it, I'm with TSB.

Covers for loss, theft, damage or breakdown (including faults).
Excess is payable on all successful claims of:

Apple iPhones = £50 for damage and breakdown claims, £100 for loss and theft claims
All other handsets = £30 for all claims.

Are you sure its like for like insurance ? Some of these policies are very dodgy. If they dont have iphone X's available they could offer you something completely different like a Samsung under some policy rules.
If you had to make a claim in the early weeks of availability I'd be worried about them not having X's

Luckily never had to use it so not really sure. Have heard of some horror stories of not brilliant repairs though.

Surely though if I pay lose it, pay iPhone excess they then couldn't give me a Samsung or something?

If the TSB one is anything like the Lloyds one (which it may be due to there previous partnership) then it covers accidental damage with a £100 excess. £2,500 claim limit I think too (phone plus accessories) which is nice.

That's good to know, wasn't sure if accidental damage was covered, need to look into the policy details.
On a other note my Apple Pay payment with my CC is now showing 0.00 is this normal? Just checked with online banking and my CC available balance is still showing £999 less than before I placed order!

Just spotted this Canadian guy on r/iPhone who posted a screenshot of his order status which shows that’s his iPhone X has shipped! Via UPS, perhaps people who have got a Nov 3 delivery will see their orders being shipped really soon, could be today

iPhones no longer lock to the first network when bought from CPW. This changed about 3 months ago.

Source: I work for them

Brilliant. Since you work there, could you tell me if CPW will be selling some stock in their stores, specifically their store in Oxford? I’d like to pick one up on the 3rd.

Did anyone get a shopping date of 1-2 weeks? Noticed this is common with the US orders but UK seems to jump from the 3rd to 2-3 weeks.

I’ve known since last month when I spoke to them numerous times to ask, no idea actually when the policy changed. It’s all over their website too

Is that three in your household or 3 in your name? I looked into it because I want to keep mine that’s currently on iUP and sell it privately and it said enrolment limits *may* apply but suspect if you pass the check and have a good credit score then it’ll be fine. I have a Barclays Finance agreement due to end in December so I’m going to close that this week just for a bit more peace of mind.

£2,000. But still good.

Does nobody else just use their contents insurance to cover their gadgets then?
I called up and specified £4k worth of stuff we may take out at any one time... premium went up £9 for the year.
Accidental damage, new for old, £100 compulsory excess... job done???

I asked in JL about this very clause and they said that it still relies on you getting your network to unlock it when you want to change, so technically the wording is correct but still locks to first network. I believe CPW are the only ones now who don't lock the phones to the first network, apart from apple of course

I’m sorry but this is totally false, I bought my 7 from JL last year and it’s totally unlocked. I run with an EE sim but have put my work sim in loads of times which is on O2 and it works totally fine

Why would you cancel without knowing if it arrives? At least wait till the 3rd and see.

Pre-ordered the 256g in space grey yesterday. Think I eventually got around to doing it at 10 past 8 (or just before)... the website didn't seem to load so had to do it on the app.
Needless to say my order is currently in progress with 13th-20th Delivery slot.
Amazing how 9 minutes pushes you back a week but I think I can consider myself lucky :)

Does anyone know if I place an order for a case now will it get added to my phone order and potentially delay it?

I’m at preparing for shipment stage and don’t want to add a case if it’ll risk delaying my phone pre order
