If you go to the iPhone Upgrade page on the Apple website it confirms that you can pre-order the iPhone 8 on Friday for collection from a store on the 22nd. This is the same as last year.
He said iPhone X mate. For the X you will have to wait long to Nov which means you will most likely paying an extra 2 installements before handing your 7 back to Apple. Best advice would be to pay off the remaining months to Apple/Barclays and restart the IUP come Nov

lol, You can purchase a Note 8 for £869 + Galaxy s8 for £540 +£1409 Probably some Quidco cashack too

or purchase a iPhone X 256GB For £1149 + Applecare £200 + £1349
you do the maths. lol

A bit better on IUP at £64 a month with applecare+ but you'll need a dirt cheap sim only tariff to make it more palatable

Earlier this evening I was ready to sit it out, now though having looked at the spec comparison, I'm more inclined to go for it. Will have to look at what music I take off my phone though so that i can buy the 64GB phone - that's the sticking point at the moment.

Yeah I know what you mean. I love the X and I will go for it but I feel that Apple are really pushing their luck with their UK pricing and customers.

Going through the IUP means I can just about justify going for the 256GB X. At least I know that I have about £300 to get back from my 128GB iPhone 7.

Oh Apple how you test me!

Ah my mistake. He'd have to pay off all the credit though, which would be 8 months of payments. If he has that money then yes, might be an idea, but then also has to pay £70 to get the iPhone X and no guarantee of getting his money back from a used phone (depending on condition too) - the recyclers will no doubt be offering less now that everyone is trying to sell their phone. I suspect the loss on the phone value come November will cancel any savings on not paying the extra 1-2 months on IUP.

Looking at the IUP difference between 64GB & 256GB, the buggers have made the difference <£8 so I'll probably end up sucking it up & trying not to think of the money I'm throwing at them.

I'm due an upgrade with o2 and now I'm considering a 256gb 7 plus, but it seem they've discontinued the 256 now?

Few people mentioning the Samsung S8 as a price comparison

Not sure if it's just me but I don't see the S8 as a competitor to the iPhone X - I'd see it more as a rival of the iPhone 8, with the X and Note going head to head

Am I alone in this thought process?

Can I have that colour please :D

What's really annoying is that for those of us already on iUP who are now due an upgrade we've got two pay an extra months before getting that upgrade.

The biggest disappointment for me is that Touch ID is no longer in the phone, yet we all fully expect it to be in the next one.

Therefore, when we're all there slinging our iPhone X's in 2019, we'll all be receiving comments like, "Oh yeah, that's the one they released without TouchID isn't it?" and that just doesn't sit right with me.

TouchID is more convenient. Although I've never had it (iPhone 5 user), I still have used it and have always wanted it. The screen and camera improvements mean that I'll still get the X, but I was hoping to wait another 5 years before updating. Without TouchID, I can see myself wanting to update sooner, which isn't a good investment vs upgrading every five years.

I can see FaceID getting tiresome quickly.

I'll be getting the 8. I'm coming from a launch day 6S, so not expecting anything particularly mind-blowing, but looking forward to just having a new toy as my iPhone is 2 years old now. Can afford the X but can't justify spending £999 plus £55 for the charging pad, and I really don't wanna wait until Nov.

Also, where was the bronze colour everyone was talking about? Had they included that, it might've won me over. Those bronze/black front mock ups were stunning.

Why isn't it a competitor to the iPhone X? What does the iPhone X have (other than animated Unicorns) that sets it apart? Dual camera possibly, doesn't seem to be much else.

For what its worth, Note 8 is £130 cheaper than the iPhone Unicorn.

I'm really unsure what to do. I good thing I did purchase £1600 of Apple Store vouchers on my barclay card as they were having an offer for cash back so worked out £1420 but have spent £709 so have £891 left. Taking this into account plus the cash back (£160) it will still cost me £990 which is a lot for a phone in my pocket.

I was hoping the X would ship in October at the latest as I'm off to Australia for three weeks come the 29th.
Would I have any issues ordering the Australian model and bringing it back to the UK; will it work the same over here?

I think

I think this is the first phone for some time I will have to buy a proper case for. I've been relatively OK with my 6, I dropped it once two weeks after getting it, then not once since in 3 years. I am far too scared to do this with an 8 - I still remember smashed glass backs from the 4 was it (I didn't have one)?

Regarding the Apple Upgrade Program, it seems the Apple Store app on iOS now allows you to join the program from within the app

This wasn't showing up before today's announcement. Obviously, it won't allow you to actually choose a phone until Friday 15th.

I'm still struggling to comprehend the pricing, £999 is madness. With $999 in the US I'd expect the UK price to be around £799. Just can't see how they can justify the £200 increase.

I was hyped for this but the price has left a very sour taste in my mouth.
