If your back up is 11.1,
Start your new phone X Set up as new, ignore all the Face ID and passwords etc, update the X with 11.1 when completed wipe it as if you are selling it, once wiped, Set up from Your back up.
You will have to reinstall banking apps as they won’t work unless you do. Same for Apple Pay cards.
I would update your old phone first with 11.1 public release
Any ring tones you personally have do not get transferred. But easily put back manually. Locate them in finder iTunes library, from iTunes , place to desktop, Open new phone select tunes and drag file to location, sync and on your phone you will find the file under sounds
I dont know how to go back to a public release?

I’ve just called and got the same answer from Argos - the guy told me it will be delivered tomorrow despite the email to the contrary. Still on processing order in status though. My gut feeling is that this is more rubbish from Argos but you never know...

Same I asked many advisors on the phone and says it is still coming tomorrow! They asked me to call again in the morning to check for any issues. Btw try track ur order via Argos tracking and let me know what it says

Result. JL have dispatched me.

Finally I can stop feeling like Zoolander with this bloody iPhone SE

I ordered a Belkin anti glare screen protector from Apple online delivered to store so they can apply it. Does anyone know if they can apply it in store? Someone earlier said the ones bought online don’t work in the machines in store (or something like that)

Muchas Gracias

Yes. They have a special machine that apples it. Excellent protector.

Well my plan for today was to try my luck at ordering a phone from John Lewis at 8a.m. I already have a phone on order with Apple, but it is in the ‘13th -20th Nov’ group. Unexpectedly, my plan of trying John Lewis changed very early this morning, when I stumbled upon posts on here just after 5.30a.m, about Argos having stock & to my surprise, I managed to order from Argos (just before 6a.m), for delivery tomorrow.

However, even after receiving my order confirmation and seeing the Argos transaction on my bank statement, something just did not feel quite right & I did not feel ready to cancel my Apple order. I know this sounds really snobby, but I just kept thinking ‘Argos?’. As a brand/company, Argos has not got that Apple or John Lewis premium feeling...and I am buying what I consider to be a premium product. Started to have doubts about what kind of service/support I would get from Argos if I ever needed it. Also, when I had been thinking about trying to get a phone from John Lewis at 8a.m, I was toying with the idea of purchasing the John Lewis Additional Support, but that idea had now gone out the window. I felt that I had been too impulsive by jumping on the Argos bandwagon so quickly.

Anyway, sat at work this afternoon & around 3p.m, I manage to take a brief break to check my personal emails & notice I have an email from Argos, advising that delivery will not now be tomorrow, but between 8th & 24th Nov!!! To be honest, instead of feeling disappointed, I was somewhat relieved - this was my chance/excuse to cancel the Argos order & just stick with my original Apple order. So I called Argos & asked to cancel (apparently I should be refunded within 5 days)...but the story does not end there...still not learning my lesson about impulsiveness, I click on the John Lewis app on my phone & it opens on the basket I had created from a wish list yesterday...and it says ‘1 in stock’! So I proceed to checkout & to my amazement, place an order for collection from John Lewis store tomorrow! Also phoned John Lewis after placing the order & placed a separate order over the phone for the additional support (£139)

Although I have far more faith in John Lewis than Argos, I have still not cancelled my Apple order. The John Lewis order is still at status ‘Processing’, but once it changes to ‘Despatched’, I will cancel the Apple order.

Hope everyone who has received their X today is happy with the phone & good luck to everyone else who is still trying to get their hands on a phone.

I know what you mean. I got mine today from Carphone Warehouse. I was in the mind that if I didn’t get it today and it was put off I’d keep my Apple order but, at the end of the day whether it comes from Apple, Argos or whoever, they ALL “come” from Apple. All made in the same place.

Mine currently says: Your order has been placed

I also had one ordered from Argos this morning, then I got the email at 14:30 saying it wasn't going to be delivered until between 8th and 24th so I managed to get one from JL to pick up tomorrow. I rang Argos and cancelled my order but I have not received any email confirming it so I have just checked and the Argos site still says it is being prepared for delivery tomorrow. I guess that if it is delivered tomorrow I will have to refuse it as the JL one has been dispatched (plus you get a 2 year guarantee with JL).

Hmmm Argos has been a real headache, miscommunication everywhere!. Plus I believe everyone gets 2 year warranty anyway, doesn’t really matter where you get it from as its covered under the U.K. law for two years.

JL is a 2 year guarantee and no thats not for everywhere...

How Is JL cover compared to Apple care? Never had any. Can I buy it separate or would I need to order phone from JL? Just asking out of curiosity

Can you post a pic pleaseeeee :D

Sorry I only have the phone, it’s typical Apple though in the sense it covers the screen perfectly. It’s literally the exact size of the screen, goes round the notch too and you can get it in anti glare or the crystal which is what I got.

Do they just do it on a walk in basis?

Yes, the guy said he had done a ton of them today. I just rocked up and asked for it and got AppleCare at the same time.

Does anyone else feel like the phone is too small? They could’ve at least matched the width of the 7 Plus.

Other than that I am underwhelmed and will probably downgrade to an 8. Anyone feels the device is weird?

Quick question - planning to take my 7 in to carphone warehouse tomorrow to trade in - saw they just put the money on a card?

Do stores match the prices on the website? Much easier to pop it in than send off!

Just had the protector installed at the Apple store and it’s brilliant. Nice and clear

I had an Anker KARAPAX one on from Amazon and it was too thick and annoying when swiping up from the bottom so I called into Apple Belfast to check out the Belkin Ultra and it is perfect. The machine they use to fit them is brilliant and it is a great job

JL's cover is an additional warranty.. its not a mechanism to get a broken screen fixed.. you your phone develops a fault in the 2 years, you can go back to JL and get them to fix or swap out the phone. You can't take a broken screen or back to them and get a repair. For that you'd have to go via apple (or someone else authorised/or insurance) to do so and pay full retail price. if you had Apple care, the cost of these repairs would be significantly less than for someone asking off the street and asking for the same repair.
