Is any one using the true tone? I think it makes the screen look worse.

I use it on my iPad Pro and it’s fine not sure on the phone though

That was one fo the parts of the upgrade that impressed me, the NFC transfer from the old phone to the iPhone X really made it easy.
If you do that, is it like setting up as a new phone but with automatic entry of your Apple ID etc or is it like restoring from an iCloud backup?

You need to go into settings, accessibility, display accommodations then do to reduce white point to the lowest level.

fixes the issue for me

It seemed to be a two part process with the NFC carrying over settings and then starting the upgrade to iOS11.1 and then it gave an option for which backup to use.

I see, and is this the one Apple uses? Don’t suppose you can take a pic of how it looks? Want one that fits right to the edge
[doublepost=1509736829][/doublepost]Are the Belkin ones Apple provide worth the money? Usually use it without a screen protector but I just know the screen will get small scratches whilst I’m at work
Sorry not in position to get Normal camera, I have no issues with it, if it eventually curls up, which I doubt as you do not feel it when using screen , buy another, better that than screen damage.

Well, got mine at 4pm today. Seriously impressed with Face ID, it’s performance is super slick. Starting to get used to the taller display too and the keyboard. I seem to be far more accurate with this keyboard than the plus one. On the plus I seemed to hit space often when aiming for letters on the bottom row. Not so on the 10.

Can I clear something up, iPhone 7 is currently running beta but 11.1 (15B93) as long as I dont update to beta 11.2 everything will restore from back on the X like normal? ~Very nervous about tomorrow
No
My iPhone X came with 11.0.3 so If your back up is 11.1
Start your new phone X Set up as new, ignore all the Face ID and passwords etc, update the X with 11.1 when completed wipe it as if you are selling it, once wiped, Set up from Your back up.
You will have to reinstall banking apps as they won’t work unless you do. Same for Apple Pay cards.
I would update your old phone first with 11.1 public release
Any ring tones you personally have do not get transferred. But easily put back manually. Locate them in finder iTunes library, from iTunes , place to desktop, Open new phone select tones and drag file to location, sync and on your phone you will find the file under sounds

How are you guys finding swiping up from the home screen without the line that you gt at the bottom when in a App. I find that its easier to make a driving motion when swiping up from the home screen

As someone who would never go to android in the past, the Samsung edge screens have really grown on me. To the point I’m thinking of jumping ship. iPhone X or Note 8? I currently have a 7+ on IUP.

Tried this (to the s8), epic fail. Screen was lovely on s8 but trust me, you will regret not getting the X

I’d say go X too based on my personal preferences. However, wife has the Note 8 and it’s excellent. I’d put that as Android’s top phone right now. A world of difference compared to the S8 which is mediocre by comparison.

Can’t go wrong with either device. Me? I’m surrounded by Apple gear so the integration and convenience is worth a lot on Apple devices. And the X is the right size for me.

Just called Argos they said my device is still coming tomorrow... everyone call them and see what they say

I’ve just called and got the same answer from Argos - the guy told me it will be delivered tomorrow despite the email to the contrary. Still on processing order in status though. My gut feeling is that this is more rubbish from Argos but you never know...

I ordered a Belkin anti glare screen protector from Apple online delivered to store so they can apply it. Does anyone know if they can apply it in store? Someone earlier said the ones bought online don’t work in the machines in store (or something like that)

Muchas Gracias

Interesting....

Do your order pages look the same as this currently?

Glad to see so many happy people! This seems to have been a good launch. For people still waiting - keep checking those 6AM reservations and good luck!

Initial observations...

The good:
  • Face ID is great and seems to be getting faster over time
  • The industrial design is exceptional
  • The interface is silky smooth
  • Animoji are good fun!
The bad:
  • The Notch is more distracting than I expected. I was a big fan of ‘embracing the notch’ but now not so much, especially after seeing how the Music app looks (which doesn’t embrace the notch and looks better)
  • Off axis colour distortion is worse than I expected. So much for Apple having sorted this out with Samsung
  • Off axis colour varies by device. Looked at a few in the Apple store and some were noticeably better than others in this regard
  • QC still disappointing - the scuffs on mine were also present on display models
By the way, has anyone else noticed that you can’t keep the now playing screen in the Music app open without the display going off? I assume this is to avoid burn in but this is VERY annoying for in-car use.

Well my plan for today was to try my luck at ordering a phone from John Lewis at 8a.m. I already have a phone on order with Apple, but it is in the ‘13th -20th Nov’ group. Unexpectedly, my plan of trying John Lewis changed very early this morning, when I stumbled upon posts on here just after 5.30a.m, about Argos having stock & to my surprise, I managed to order from Argos (just before 6a.m), for delivery tomorrow.

However, even after receiving my order confirmation and seeing the Argos transaction on my bank statement, something just did not feel quite right & I did not feel ready to cancel my Apple order. I know this sounds really snobby, but I just kept thinking ‘Argos?’. As a brand/company, Argos has not got that Apple or John Lewis premium feeling...and I am buying what I consider to be a premium product. Started to have doubts about what kind of service/support I would get from Argos if I ever needed it. Also, when I had been thinking about trying to get a phone from John Lewis at 8a.m, I was toying with the idea of purchasing the John Lewis Additional Support, but that idea had now gone out the window. I felt that I had been too impulsive by jumping on the Argos bandwagon so quickly.

Anyway, sat at work this afternoon & around 3p.m, I manage to take a brief break to check my personal emails & notice I have an email from Argos, advising that delivery will not now be tomorrow, but between 8th & 24th Nov!!! To be honest, instead of feeling disappointed, I was somewhat relieved - this was my chance/excuse to cancel the Argos order & just stick with my original Apple order. So I called Argos & asked to cancel (apparently I should be refunded within 5 days)...but the story does not end there...still not learning my lesson about impulsiveness, I click on the John Lewis app on my phone & it opens on the basket I had created from a wish list yesterday...and it says ‘1 in stock’! So I proceed to checkout & to my amazement, place an order for collection from John Lewis store tomorrow! Also phoned John Lewis after placing the order & placed a separate order over the phone for the additional support (£139)

Although I have far more faith in John Lewis than Argos, I have still not cancelled my Apple order. The John Lewis order is still at status ‘Processing’, but once it changes to ‘Despatched’, I will cancel the Apple order.

Hope everyone who has received their X today is happy with the phone & good luck to everyone else who is still trying to get their hands on a phone.

Congrats everyone on your new phones! I have a question. I’m in the loser line of 27th to 4th dec... ouch... if I do secure a reservation can I chose a time slot or do they just give you one? Sorry if this has been answered before but I can’t seem to find it!
