This place does nothing to help you’re right. Easy to get caught up in the hype. Don’t call us fan boys for nothing hey

If u ordered and got 13-20 and didn’t think twice about it and waited, I’d have been just as happy

I think it is true though if it wasn’t for this thread I wouldn’t be as desperate for this phone to come sooner than my date lol

but as reading here people getting their phones already I was getting really impatient and wanted it NOW

Having a bit of a back-and-forth with myself about whether I want to join iUP with this X I just bought or not.

It would have to be in the name of a family member this year who is paying on my behalf (I'm not eligible for credit until next year). As far as I can tell, when it comes to upgrade time in 11-12 months, handing in the old phone has the effect of closing the previous loan agreement, and then at the same time at the store I would be starting a new agreement with the new phone - this time myself.

The question is - does said family member need to be there & show ID etc etc to close the old programme? Or can it just be me? Am I actually able to access the iPhone Upgrade reservation system (as some of you have done this year) myself as it is not in my name?

That's not including the potential complications of pre-authorisation for next year as a result of feedback from this year....

But notwithstanding - do I even want to be on iUP? The issues experienced by some of you this year, and the fact that AppleCare+ doesn't cover theft or loss, are potential issues. On the other hand, you're less likely to get your insurance claim refused and more likely to get it sorted on the exact same day with genuine Apple service under AppleCare+, and there's that priority phone support too...

If I wouldn't be getting AppleCare+ it would be So-sure or insurance2go... anyone have experience with them?

Looks like there was stock of the silver 64Gb X tonight on JL. Do you think this was just one unit that someone cancelled?

Mine delivered on launch day came with unreleased 9.0.3

Anyone know why these boxes with a question mark in them appear? I’m guessing they are replacing the i

I upgraded my iPhone 7 Plus to the X which was in a family name. The person who originally signed up needs to be there on upgrade as they have to sign to close the agreement.

I used the iUP iPhone 7 Plus with my Apple ID and I could see all the options and even reserve.

There’s a SW out to address the auto correct issue.

I can totally understand your frustration. What you’ve said is exactly why I wanted Phone Payments instead of the IUP, so I can come and go as I please on my terms.

I really don’t know why I’m getting so engrossed in this. Maybe if I stayed off here, that might help!

That’s same here. I got mine on launch and I still can’t stay away from this forum..

The 13 - 20 Nov phones seem to have been dispatched from 7 - 10 November, roughly (though not strictly) in the order they were placed.

As far as I know, they knew exactly how many phones they'd be getting in the first shipment after the release date and these were all assigned the 13 - 20 Nov bracket. Apple appeared to receive them early this week and took 3 - 4 days to dispatch them all.

So, using that logic, you could potentially expect the 24 Nov - 1 Dec phones to start dispatching from 18 November onwards - but it all depends on when that next shipment is received.

Thank you for the info, making me hesitant to go on iUP until I am myself eligible for credit. Getting the next iPhone as close to release as possible *and* having the family member with me at the same time is going to be very, very difficult.

Now it's just a case of whether I should get third party insurance or Apple Care+....

Funny - I think I've just about gone full circle and said "f**k it" the other way

I'm in a queue that's going nowhere with people getting phones before me despite having dates later than me. There are people reserving at 6am & throughout the day brand new to the process who are getting their phones before me. Apple are replenishing stock at all stores nationwide & worldwide with exception to those closest to me. They obviously don't want my £1200. I'm saying f**k it, I was on the fence about their marginally better phone anyway, I'll stick with my 7 Plus which I'm plenty happy with (that does everything the X does bar Face ID & wireless charging), save myself £1k+ and maybe in a few months when I'm sick of this I'll shop around and see what the rest of the market is saying.

You can't create an "upgrade programme" to entice in loyal customers and reward them for constantly paying full whack for a phone with annual upgrades to the latest & greatest if you're not going to uphold your part of the bargain. My 7+ only has about £300 left to pay on it now, I'd be trading it in for nothing save the privilege of paying full price in instalments for the X - which I'd have to make 11 payments on before I could upgrade again. I could pay my existing one off, sell it and buy the X and have more £ in my pocket, but I was happy to stay in the programme out of sheer brand loyalty. Now they've given me enough time to question this.

Why should I have to take the crappy end of the deal AND wait?

If the process was handled fairly I’d either have my phone in hand by now, or I’d be patiently waiting for my accurate date and watching others do the same, with new people joining the queue behind me.

If you're comfortable rocking a + size iPhone, you've already got one of the key features of the X covered. In fact in many respects the switch to X would be a retrograde step for you. The aspect ratio on your + is better suited to media and most of the App eco-system, only browsing long pages will fully utilise the X's screen. The OLED display does surpass your 7+ in contrast, colour reproduction and pixel response time, but your 7+ beats it in terms of consistency across viewing angles.

Face ID is great and would be a compelling USP all on its own. But its not the unequivocal must buy feature because it follows TouchID. The step from PIN -> TouchID was a breakthrough step in terms of UX from day one. TouchID -> FaceID is more incremental on day one and probably retrograde in some areas (for example you can't add other peoples faces).

In short I certainly wouldn't be beating myself up about the lack of iPhone X in your life. Otherwise I fear you may well be underwhelmed soon after the gleaming pristine shine has been dulled by your finger prints :D

I had the same thought, but the bottom line is that Apple care does not cover you for loss/theft, and the X in particular is going to be a target for theft, given its price tag. I have decided to go with the apple care (with iUP probably), but only because I have discovered my house insurance covers my phone (although with a big excess), so Im covered for damage through apple car and the theft/loss through house insurance.

Of course would need to get my hands on a phone first before any of that matters...!!

Still no stock in Bristol to reserve. I’m going to cancel my order as the more I wait the more I struggle to justify the expense. Who knew this £1000 phone was going to be so popular.
