Did you just walk in store and specify you wanted t trade in for cash? Was it just the actual iPhone and nothing else with it?Might be a bit off topic but hopefully useful to some. I just sold my iPhone 7 plus 128GB to carphone warehouse for £400. A fair bit more than the usual online sites were offering and I didn't have to send it in the post, just went in store. I was worried about the scuffed jet black back but they didn't even check really.
Now just have to use my wife's old 7 (which I'll be trading in eventually, currently offering £350) whilst I wait for my X
Hi,
Apologies if the question has been answered earlier in the thread...
But I want an iPhone X on the Apple upgrade program and was told that I needed to reserve and pick up the phone instore, rather than order online.
I'm guessing this is so they can run a credit check and get a copy of my documentation.
The issue that I have whenever I try and reserve a phone it takes me about a minute, to log in again (why? I'm already logged in!), verify the login via two-factor authentication, choose the phone, colour, size, store and pick up time for me to be redirected to buy iPhone X page.
I know new stock coming in is limited, but it seems that I about a 0.00001% chance of actually reserving the phone via the MBP and website.
Does anyone know how to do this via the Apple Store app, which I'm guessing would use TouchID and shave 30 seconds off my time and increase the odds to 0.0001%?
Again, apologies if this common knowledge or the wrong place to post.
Walked in and said I wanted to sell my phone. They then checked the IMEI number in the database and quoted me the £400. All they wanted was the iPhone, they didn't even check it for problems or anything, I had a scratch on the screen and either they didn't notice or didn't care, they just wanted me to turn off find my iPhone and wipe the device there and then. I then had to sign some things and then I popped my card in the machine. They said it'll take a few days for the money to appear (which it did it last year when I did the exact same thing) and I left with printed paperwork and card machine receipt. Some stores might be more stringent though. But for a 7+ 128GB it was the best price I could find, CeX were offering £367, Game offered £360 and the online sites like Music Magpie were offering around the same.Did you just walk in store and specify you wanted t trade in for cash? What checks did they do? just accept a debit card and was it paid there and then onto the card?
I have a 7+ 128Gb and still to trade in/sell as now have my X, but haven't sorted it yet....
thanks
Or alternatively you could stick it on eBay, sell it for £450 and pay £80 in fees.Walked in and said I wanted to sell my phone. Sold mine at the Team Valley one. Very quick and easy, paid onto my card and cleared quickly.I hate going to Northumberland Street, I might just try the one on Team Valley as it’s got parking right outside.
Can’t answer from personal experience but have seen many on these forums and others doing what you’re proposing without issue. Can someone verify something for me, my friend has used his iPhone upgrade programme account to reserve me a phone. It says on the email he’ll have to trade his phone back in. Am I going to have any issues buying the phone tomorrow? Are they gonna refuse because it was someone else’s account used to reserve?

No problem. To make it easier avoid wiping your phone before you get there. It took three people to read the tiny IMEI number off the SIM card tray!Thank you, good to hear, looks like I’ll be popping in there sometime soon.
Flicking back through the pages to see when the last influx of iUP reservations came forward.View attachment 734125
Wow my wife’s White 256 IUP Upgrade was due in store on 2/12 (brought forward from 9/12).
Had a message at around 8.30pm to say it is ready to collect at Birmingham.
Happy days. 9.38 confirmation email.
Anyone in Newcastle wanting a silver 64GB go to JL ASAP. The guy showed me the physical phone and said they have 5 in stock. I stubbornly turned it down since I’m wanting the SG no matter how tempted I was to buy it there and then.
Is there only people in the north east left on here now? Hah
Once you’re in there Apple will let you do what you want it seemsWhy aye man.
Btw another quick question, I have a phone reservation with iUP. Can I change in store and just by the phone sim free or do I need to buy it through iup.
Was that price for your 7 plus based on you buying a new phone with CPW or is that a stand alone price for selling the phone?Might be a bit off topic but hopefully useful to some.
