I’ve noticed a few people saying that even though I’ve ordered my iPhone online to pay outright I can go into an Apple store to get my money back & go onto the IUP? Do I have to do this in 14 days of receiving the phone?

That’s correct. Just take the phone and box in with you. You don’t need to restore it or anything. They’ll apply for the iUP before they refund you just in case you don’t pass.

Finally got fed up with the 5:58 wake up everyday and ordered the 64GB in silver. Delivery between 29-6 so fingers crossed it may come early. Good luck everyone!!

Well I went back to JL and got the silver. It’s beautiful. Two iPhones X purchased so this is my fairwell. It’s been fun. I certainly won’t miss the 6am checks. Good luck to those still waiting!
Although I say I won’t upgrade yearly I’m sure I’ll see you all next year. Thanks to @iStockNow

At last! ;) Good choice, enjoy it!

This is not correct. I tried to do this with my wife’s iPhone last night in Apple Belfast and after speaking with management the protocol is in fact to refund the phone first so that they have a device to apply for iUP. They cannot do it unless the serial number is available to do so. My concern was putting the phone back into stock but I was assured as the phone had been used that it doesn’t go into the same stock pool as new devices and would be available to reallocate for the iUP. The downfall of this is that if the credit check failed then you would need the funds available to by it outright again as the refund takes 2-3 days.

So I said to the guy work away and do what you have to do and my wife passed the credit check within seconds of it being completed. Fastest I have seen from Barclays in fact on all 4 occasions we have applied for iUP. Just be careful when asking to do this and ensure you have the funds to buy the phone again if required...

I did the whole taking my online order in and changing to IUP.

As above, they refunded me the phone first but they did this to a gift card. If IUP application then failed I would have been able to repurchase it using the funds on the gift card. IUP application was fine and after this they then refunded the gift card back to my credit card. All in all done in 15 minutes at the store

Friend (not in UK) has to wait 2 weeks for a replacement, even after being told he'd be "VIP".
His was totally not working (touchscreen dead), you may be able to use this one while a replacement is delivered.

Talk to Apple Care and don't hesitate to go for a manager / supervisor.

Looks like only 2 shops in the UK got stock....Stratford got the 256 Black, Covent Garden got 64 GB Silver and Black.....the stock levels in the UK seem atrocious right now.

Got as far as entering my phone number in for the 256gb, but was promptly told that it was no longer available.

Wouldn't surprise me if less than 10 units are made available at 6am for the whole of the UK the rate this is going.

Am hoping against hope that the stock is winging its way to the UK for the 3rd wave 24th-01st window. Especially as the dispatch window has decreased by a week last night so now 2-3 wks for dispatch.

Apple needs stock for the new countries coming on line, and the amount of people left in the UK that are requiring the new phone must be less than 30% of the original orders placed on the 27th Oct. So I can understand the lack of supply, I can even understand the system where IUP's can still order the limited stock that appears throughout the day in drips and draps, as these must be credit refusals as the numbers are in single digits.

But what I don't understand, is where the dispatch date keeps decreasing, but there doesn't seem to be movement on the 3rd wave yet to the UK, as the Europeans 20th to 28th are already being received. And the European orders are being dispatched direct from China

So hopefully either a shipment will arrive in the UK for splitting by the end of the week or today we should get getting CC's charged / PFD if direct from China. If to make the beginning of the 24-01 window.

Only once have apple missed the delivery window for me and that was my 2016 15" TB MBP build to order. Finger's x'ed this will not happen again...

My prediction is Thursday evening people will start seeing more iUP orders trickling through.

Stock levels were abysmal again this morning. Makes me wonder where these handful of phones are coming from each day.

I think there must be multiple ways then because the poster below said they refunded to a gift card and then refunded to his card once it passed.

When I reserved for collection, they did the iUP first and then just cancelled the collection which initiated a refund.

Last year, with the jet black, it was open and in use so they refunded first then applied for up.

The good thing is there are multiple options.

I am starting to think that 24/11 - 01/12 may actually be realistic delivery dates the way the stock situation appears to be going. No early delivery for us in this batch.

I'm hoping a big shipment will come into the uk today, with orders changing to PfD today.

Again, I can only hope.
