Just read up on the rights of this, if you send an email back to Argos (read receipt) or registered letter giving the company 14 days to arrange to pick it up the delivery. (All costs should be borne by the company, including packaging, courier etc.) In the letter / email state that you will dispose of the package after 14 days, so if they want it, come and get it....

Sounds like you could be onto a winner SINCE Argos seem to be so dysfunctional....

Great, thanks for the advice, i'll give that a try. They do seem very dysfunctional, the order on my Argos account is still showing as processing..

Be very careful, goods sent in error are not the same as unsolicited goods in law, while you can legally keep unsolicited goods as they are considered an unconditional gift, you can be taken to court for the return or payment for goods sent in error as ownership remains with the sender.

A court action can be instituted for up to 6 years in England and Wales (or 5 years in Scotland).

Just a thought. Can you return an iPhone to JL within 14 days if for any reason you’re not happy with it. Or does that only apply for Apple store purchases? That’s the only downside I can see to ordering from JL...

Hi I’ve just ordered a SG from them & this is what the email says about returning items, hope this helps:

Returning items
If you've changed your mind about keeping your purchase, please return it in its original condition with proof of purchase and we'll exchange or refund it. Unless faulty, this should be within 35 days of receiving your order. By original condition, we'd expect this to mean that you've kept packaging and labels, and that the item is undamaged and unused.
We're unable to offer refund or exchanges, unless faulty, on perishable goods; computer software vouchers that have been redeemed; computer software that has been opened; iTunes vouchers; products that have been personalised or specially ordered for you.

The being able to use it for 14 days and then return it for a full refund no questions asked is unique to Apple.

But of course you can return it if you're not happy with it to JL but it can't be used.

do DPD delivery at weekends for these deliveries?
i've got mine coming to work and as much as i want it now, if it comes on saturday no one will be there
so hoping they dont do weekends
this is if they happen to dispatch tomorrow

Can probably get you're money back at the likes of CEX though.

I ordered a 64GB SG from Argos around about the 5th November when they said they had stock, when I managed to pick one up in store I cancelled the Argos order and was refunded..

I have just had it delivered by Yodel though.. so no I have a Phone I haven't paid for. Has this happened to anyone else?
Was it delivered completely unannounced? Or did you get updates from yodel this morning and last night etc.?

And what does it say when you look at your order history in your Argos “my account” section?

Do you have one reserved or are you just chancing it daily?

Just chancing it daily. I managed to get one on launch day from CPW and cancelled my 17th-20 from Apple order but it had the top speaker fault real bad. Had to return and was gutted.

Been trying ever since.

The X is not going to remain in stock for much longer on JL now given the official JL stock notification emails have just gone out

Just snatched up a 64GB SG on JL app for collection on Saturday. It’s actually both a different colour & storage capacity to my Apple order. I am not bothered on the colour really. With storage though I am hoping I can get all my music on there if I cut back on my apps. After all 95% of my apps I hardly use or don’t use at all.

Put through on PayPal Credit which is what I should have done with my Apple order so that’s another advantage.

Cancelled my Apple order.

If it’s faulty they’ll refund within 28 days. And unopened it’s 3 months for returns at JL.

Yes I know their policy isn't bad and you also have Consumer Contracts Regulations which allow you to reasonably appraise presuming its an online/telephone order and not store collection.

However, I believe the original poster was querying if the 14 day no quibble return Apple Stores offer applied? Whilst JL don't offer this, I was just highlighting in the case of the iPhone X the OP could probably trade it to recoup their money, effectively offering them the same trial period (with a small risk stock availability becomes ubiquitous and trade prices plummet).

Any news on Currys/CPW orders? Mine said delivery by the 17th but there's been no movement and it's now just saying O.O.S

Just pulled the trigger on a 64GB SG from JL for delivery on Saturday.

I swore I wouldn’t. But it was there and it’ll match my new Apple Watch.

Hi whiterider, my first post but just wanted to say that I'm in the same situation as you. Ordered an SG 256GB from Currys online with a discount code on 2nd November with delivery by 17th (just missed the 10th). No change in the status so I rang the "Know How" Customer Services earlier today. They checked my order and did confirm a date for delivery of the 17th saying that they had stock come in. It's now nearly midnight and still nothing changed. But I did check my previous order with them of an SG 256GB 8 Plus and though that said delivery of 22nd September, it was actually despatched on 22nd and delivered on Saturday 23rd. So there may be hope yet! If my status changes or I find anything more out I'll be sure to post and let you know. Fingers crossed for you! Well, for us both! :)

Seems to be a lot more SG models knocking around than silver.

1) First check CEX/CPW/O2/Game to figure out what you can get from a walk in trade.

2) You can check eBay but after fee's and risk of being scammed, I really don't think its worth it.

3) You can try something like GumTree/Shpock, with cash on collection terms. Just have a search what others are selling for on there and see if its worth the hassle against (1).

Try taking it into Carphone Warehouse as I read somewhere earlier in this thread they were offering reasonable sums for old phones.

CPW online offering £350, not bad considering there's no hassle. Might pop into store as someone else commented they got £400 for the same phone. All the other sites seem to be offering £330 or less. Gumtree sales seem to be around £400/£450 but I'm not sure if I want to be scammed by someone and there's the opportunity for a lot to go wrong.

I'd prefer to sell to someone I know as it was only replaced around a month ago and in great condition, but no-one I know seems to be looking for a new phone!
