...you can do IUP via the app/web but not IP it seems.

You cannot sign up for iUP on the internet. You have to go to an Apple Store in person for the credit check and loan agreement.

Unless, again, we’re talking about simply reserving a device.

I've been offered the following deal with o2:
iPhone 8 Plus 256GB
£51 p/m
119.99 upfront
5GB data
Free Belkin wireless charging pad

Good or bad?

Thats 1343.99 TCO over 24 months so see how much it would cost to buy the phone out right divide it by 24 add a sim only tariff at 5gb for also 24 months and put it all together.

Guys not sure if this has been answered yet but....

I'm already on the iUP. What if when I upgrade I want to switch to just the iPhone Payments programme (without Applecare+)?

Will they still upgrade me in the same way?

It’s possible they won’t due to the fact that you technically still have an outstanding balance on your Barclays loan on the iUP. They wipe that when you hand your phone back.

In fact, as long as you hand your phone back you might be okay seeing as the new phone is simply a new agreement/loan.

Yeah I've done that and added 15 a month for a sim and they're pretty close

My local store still has stock of all devices. It’s worth noting that AAPL stock has fallen again today.

So it all comes down to flexibility if you keep your phone for 24 months and don't care about yearly upgrades then o2 is a pretty good deal

Yeah I thought it was pretty good. I don't mind having it for 2 years possibly even longer I'm just upgrading for a bigger screen and more storage.

That wouldn't be the case if the 8/8+ was the only iPhone being launched. I suspect that things may change if some people who cannot get hold of a X in November decide they won't wait and as Christmas approaches more may be purchased for gifts. Also the series 3 watch is a bit a game changer so some people may be opting for that instead.

And availability usually starts to slip over the 1st weekend of preordering anyway.

Does it have to be o2 as well? I assume you've looked at competitors.

That's an upgrade price so lower upfront I think, he did knock it down from 179.99. I asked about EE but upfront was higher for a new contract and since I've been happy with o2 for the last 2 years I thought I may aswell stay with them.

The pound is hitting $1.36 and yet we're paying parity. Doesn't seem right. I know they have sales taxes but not to that extent!

Apple only used Brexit as an excuse to charge more. There was no real world reason to change prices. Exchange rates could return to pre-Brexit levels but Apple will do anything other than lower prices back down. Why would they? A stronger pound only means more money for them.

I dunno about the whole Watch comment. Only EE are supporting Apple Watch + cellular and networks tend to be pretty slow to adapt to this sort of thing. I asked my network if they were even considering support and they all but said they’d not even thought about it.

interesting that people are seeing the 'preparing for dispatch' for the launch day stock.. that stuff is usually already in the UK and doesn't ship till close to the delivery date. Might be this year the pre-orders are coming from factory?!

Does anyone know if EE has more plans that aren’t annual? For the X. Found out I get 20% off !? I’m definitely jumping on that bandwagon if they are.

Don't they ship from Ireland normally when its direct from the factory?

Never had one from Ireland before. Its either Hinkley when its been launch day stock, or form Shenzhen via South Korea, HK, Kazakhstan, Dubai and Cologne (UPS take some funky routes!)

Only EE in the UK but the watch is getting launched in other countries too.

And much as I hate/disgree with Brexit we were getting ripped off in the UK by many companies long before that........so kind of agree with you that it is an excuse!

Oh wow. Sky Mobile. £57 for a refresh deal so could go for a 8+ 256 (£99 upfront) and upgrade next year again.

edit: That's with £15 5gb data. Would be £52 for 1gb (yes I know that's nothing but I work from home and I'm on wireless constantly).

I pay £12.00 a month for sim only EE unlimited, data 6GB, so £288 over two years.
Based on that without subsidy:

iPhone 8
64GB £699
256GB £849

iphone 8+
64GB £799
256GB £949

iphone 10
62GB £999
256GB £1149

so with Zero upfront cost per PM
should not be a penny more than:

iPhone 8
64GB £41.13
256GB £47.38

iphone 8+
64GB £45.29
256GB £51.54

iphone 10
62GB £53.63
256GB £59.88

I would expect less than above with 'Network subsidy" at least £0 to £5 PM off above prices.

Rembember iPhone only has 12 month warranty, do you new extra warranty? at these prices I say 'yes'.

For outright purchase, consider John Lewis with their 2 year warranty.

OOS at present.

Sky Mobile seem to have by far the best deals.

No upfront and £42 a month for a 64GB 8+, £52 if you're not a Sky customer.
there's a good comparison of UK tariffs here:
