You could get a phone from apple, a cheap sim only contract, wipe you a*se with a £5 note once week, and still be saving money vs EE.

The network deals are all stupidly overpriced for the 8+ 256GB even with their cheapest plans

Three 24 months, 500Mb Data 300 minutes, unlimited texts, no applecare+: £1467
EE 24 months 5GB Data unlimited minutes, unlimited texts, no applecare+: £1621
Vodaphone 24 months 1Gb Data unlimited minutes, unlimited texts, no applecare+: £1494
O2 24 months 1Gb Data unlimited minutes, unlimited texts, no applecare+: £1461

Apple IUP with 24 months of a £5 a month sim only contract (and applecare+) £1218
Apple 1P with 24 months of a £5 a month sim only contract no applecare+ £1000
Think I May just get sim only with what I have now and get it via IUP as paying £82.99 A month on EE is madness and that's for just the 64Gb option

Still not working for me... will try on the laptop when back home later on.
So we’re still unsure if it is possible to make a “normal” reservation for in store pickup, and then choose to join the Upgrade Program at the time?

reservations to pick up and pay by which ever means you want will open when the phone launches. Currently you can buy outright and get it delivered to your door or pick it up form a store.. but you pay for the device up front.

there is the IUP option which in essence is a reservation where you don't pay now and go into store when you reserved the phone and sign up there. People have been asking if they can then change that reservation to a different payment method and the information on that suggests you could last year for the first week or so , but some people were told they couldn't later.

did you get your's on launch day? it seems that a few comments suggest a week or so later apple stopped that happening.. might have just been that store, who knows

I did it twice as I got a gold iphone originally on launch day and then changed to black a couple of weeks later - both via in store reservations. Am sure both were IUP reservations but possibly the latter was not.

so it seems to be a bit hit and miss on if they'd let you change it or not.. for those wanting to do so why not give it a try!

It would be nice if the phone carriers just released their tariffs so we could make the decision now

take the current 8+ prices and add a lot more :D

The one last year hit 15,000.
I left soon as i got my pre-order :D

that one went for for a good 2 months after pre-orders went live... at that rate, this post will be going well into the new year!

how do you do the IP then from the web/app? Is there no way and you have to wait until launch? Thinking ahead to the X. Would prefer no applecare+ as I have accidental damage protection on my home insurance but there is no way they'll have any 'free' stock if I just waltz up to a store on launch day

...you can do IUP via the app/web but not IP it seems.

Hmm so looking at 8+ 64GB
10GB of data doubled to 20GB as they currently have a promotion on for upgrading customers. And I know this depends on if they do this promo for the X.
£129.99 upfront and £58 a month.

Hmm

there doesn't seem to be a way to specifically reserve for IP. the site says you have to do it in store, which implies they need stock..
one option could be to buy outright and pick up in store and then ask them to 'refund' it and put you on IUP.. if they would do that!?

the option of pre ordering one for IUP could work, some have been able to change it once in store to IP where some comments say not.

the last option is the one that will make you miss launch day and thats waiting for the reservation system to go live when the phone launches on 2/11 and reserve one for collection.

that's why I'm holding onto me £19/month all you can eat on three sim.

It's not hard to work out.....
O2 - find a plan for 8Plus 256GB, divide price difference between X and that model by 24 (e.g £200 for X 256GB) and add to the plan

EE - have already published X 64GB prices on website. 256GB will likely be an additional £10 per month - so £92.99pm on the 100GB offer with £9.99 up front

Vodafone - they say will start at £68pm which will be for the 64GB model with I reckon about £100 up front. So for 256GB likely additional £10 per month.

Guys not sure if this has been answered yet but....

I'm already on the iUP. What if when I upgrade I want to switch to just the iPhone Payments programme (without Applecare+)?

Will they still upgrade me in the same way?
