For me a max/plus size with a case makes a big phone bigger. I had a case in my 7+ ( silicon ) which added some weight but also made one handed use more difficult.

Just checked the weights and surprised buy the difference.

Never knew the 8+ was heavier than the 7+ (188g compared to 202g) - makes sense given the glass construction

The max is 208g so 20g more than when I last had a plus sized phone. Add a case on that and that’s putting me off more from the max

Im not worried about the size/weight of the phone as i have big hands and big pockets being 6ft 4 :p

That being said i dont like massivly bulky cases, but from the pictures the Apple leather case doesnt seem to add much bulk.

Anyone know how long you need to allow for delivery to Music Magpie? The quote is only valid so long as they receive the item within the 14 days/ Royal Mail guidance says tracked 48 is usually 2-3 business days - anyone got experience with MM of whether that holds true?

My quote is now valid until Monday 1st October - so if I send off on Monday, hopefully will be enough time.
Personally given the value of the phone, I send it to these places via Special Delivery.... yes it costs me more, but I can track it, prove it was signed for and have decent insurance in case it goes missing or is damaged.

Off the top of my head Second Class Mail is only insured for something like £20

Edit

Just checked and second class is £20 and First class is £50

Special Delivery upto £500 is £7.30 and upto £1000 is £8.30

For the sake of £8.... I would rather take that hit and make sure I am covered for any loss or damage

I have had an Apple leather case on my 8 Plus this past year and it doesn't really bulk it out by that much if I'm honest! The leather offers superb grip (its slippery at first but as it slowly gains the natural oils from your hands, it will naturally want to grip your fingers) and has aged beautifully - it will be a shame to start this process again with a new leather case for my XS!!!!! :p

I've never liked Apple silicone cases though as they are naturally, lint magnets. My one pet peeve with them is that they are just far too grippy, so much so that when the phone and case goes into a pocket, when you next pull the phone out, the case grips the inside of the pocket so this then turns the pocket inside out as you pull the phone out (and of course, the case is also covered in pocket lint!! YUCK!!!).

Where are you finding the "in progress" status? Cant seem to find it anywhere, wondering if it has something to do with me starting a new contract? I ordered the xs max on the 14th from o2.

When I login to My O2 there is a section at the bottom that says Recent orders and it is in there. I have been an O2 customer for years though, not sure how that works or if that same order section appears if you're a new customer though.

My Apple leather folio case for the Max just arrived its nice but definitely not worth the money! It’s smaller than the plus so anyone used to the plus size will have No problems.

Music Magpie terms say that items sent using their postal services are insured up to the valuation amount...

"12.1 When you send your Item using any of the Delivery Services detailed in these Terms and Conditions, your Item will be insured up to the amount of the Valuation for that Item. This means that once your Package has been accepted at the Pass my Parcel or Hermes ParcelShop, your local Post Office or by a third party courier, the Items included in the Package are insured up to the value of the Valuation provided by us."

Also...... and this may not be an issue for anyone else..... but one of my concerns with Max was that it wouldn’t fit in my BMW 5 Series wireless charging tray. I just tried with the case and can confirm it does fit - though literally with no space to spare. Apple better not make these phones any bigger in future!!!!!!!

Yep, spoke to them a little while ago just about this. Using their label, its covered for the amount they quoted. so £650 for my X

When are you sending yours off? And when is your quote valid until?
locked in last night so have to the 1st to get it to them. As long as I get my XS on a second IUP all OK on Friday, I'll send it Saturday so plenty of time. I'll close off IUP account once they confirm.
