I get 20GB data, unlimited texts and calls from Vodafone for £16 a month.
I pay £16.57 for 40GB/Unl/Unl.

60% F&F discount.
[doublepost=1536444607][/doublepost]
I bought the X outright and got an EE Max Sim Only Plan - £22/month for 22GB + roaming in EU/USA/CAD/AUS etc, and no throttling.

I need more data, but EE no longer offer their 'Max Plan' as a sim only. I can 'upgrade' to 40GB for £25/m, but it's not a max plan, therefore speeds at throttled to 40GB, plus no roaming in US/Canada/Aus etc.

The only way to now get a unthrottled plan with US/Cad/Aus roaming with EE is to get a phone on a 24 month plan. I'm debating what to do. I hate having massive payments each month for phones, and can afford to buy the XS outright, but also want unthrottled EE data (I get 90Mbps download in my area) as well as roaming in US.

I guess trading my X 256GB in for £600 will 'lessen' the £80/m EE pricing for 60GB on the XS.
Do you actually need those data speeds though?

I’m planning on going for the iPhone Xs Max but man are trade in prices bad for the iPhone 8 Plus :/ Most I’ve found is £450 from Mazuma Mobile. Tried listing it on FB Marketplace for £570 but no takers so far... don’t really want to take the Mazuma offer as I find it to be meh and I’d ideally only want to spend up to £450 of my own money to upgrade to the Xs Max.

Anyone found any better trade in prices?
Hey Sparky... :D

Nice one glad we have so much competition here in the uk.
lets hope the 5g launch next two or three years don't bring back expensive prices.
I feel bad for people in Australia and Canada they have the most expensive cell phone plans going.
Lump us in the US in there too. I knew our cellular market was bad but now that I read your plans, I’m dumbfounded.

Very dirty trick from EE SIM ONLY no max plan speed capped.
Take out a expensive phone contract with us will uncapped your speed to the max.
OFCOM needs to take a major look into this.
Three uk got told off by ofcom for capping EU roaming to 3g only now 4g roaming is back on for roaming +unlimited hotspot comes back at Christmas this year.

https://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.p...eutrality-probe-of-three-uk-and-vodafone.html
Even with the speed throttled to 40mbps, the performance would likely outstrip some of the other networks charging similar prices. EE is the only network I will consider having had experience of them all. I wish I could have stayed with Three but their 4G coverage and speeds weren’t good enough in key places that I needed them.

Are we thinking the LCD Model this year will be the same as the OLED phones apart from screen and different materials used for build?

Will be upgrading from 7 Plus and its really only FaceID and Camera Improvements I am interested in.

The LCD model is also rumoured to have a worse modem than the 5.8 and 6.5 models. The 6.1 may have a 2x2 modem whereas the oled models are said to have 4x4 modems.

No dual lens camera touted for it and supposedly less ram (but unlikely something you’d notice) and made of aluminium

Never knew three have finally removed the 3G roaming cap.. brings them back into contention for me

They were forced to remove the throttling in EU, by law. They still massively throttle data outside of the EU. When I used Three a few months ago in NYC, the experience wasn't great, compared to EE who offer unthrottled roaming in USA.

I pay £16.57 for 40GB/Unl/Unl.

60% F&F discount.

I could live with the throttled 60Mbps on EE, however the sim only plans also lost roaming in countries like US/CAD/Aus/NZ. You can add it back onto the plans, but it's £10/m.

To be honest you be better off joining virgin mobile unlimited sim plan for £25 a month runs on EE network with a speedcap 50meg.
EE largest package they offer only 40gb for new customers on sim only plans.

Just checked out Virgin's website, that's a great deal. Shame it's for existing Virgin customers only. :(

I'm very lost on what to purchase this time. (Have a iPhone X 64GB at the moment sim free)
In my mind I want a iPhone XS big Edition but in my head no way.
I'm paying £1056 whatever price apple susprise us this time for 64gb storage with no 5G network support looking to keep this phone till 2022 or longer this time.

I might just go for iPhone X GEN 2 and call it a day.
or even cheap iPhone 6.1 edition and upgrade again when 5G networks go mainstream.

at the end of the day we will find out the pricing this Wednesday.

And it’s worth saying that you can’t just add the expanded roaming on for £10/mo when you need it - it’s a minimum 6 month commitment. I held onto an old 12GB sim only max plan from EE to keep the roaming for these countries but once the discounts elapsed it’s up over £20 and I can’t really make changed without losing the old Max-plan benefits.

I’m going with O2 this time. It’ll be a 3 year contract but O2 got a good chunk of spectrum in the last auction so their 5G should be great in the latter half of that agreement.

I’m looking at £199 upfront, ~£27 for the handset, and ~£23 for the 15GB airtime deal with a student discount. That should be a little over £50/mo vs. £85 for the iPhone Upgrade programme and EE’s SIMO bundle at the moment. And Quidco are offer £105 cash back on Contacts over £45/mo.

O2’s global roaming looks a lot more comprehensive that the half-dozen extras EE give you outside Europe. I keep visual voicemail and Wi-fi calling too. Now if only they can support the next Apple Watch...

Does the price of the Max Plan sim only go up after the initial 12 months?

I got a deal, which was £26/month for 22GB Max Plan Sim Only. My 12 months is up this month. I assumed as long as I don't upgrade, I'll just continue paying £26/m.

I've tried all the other networks, but keep coming back to EE. Their 4G speeds and coverage seem to be much, much better than other networks.

You keep the benefits for the length of your contract but any discounts you have disappear, which doubled the price of my plan. After 12 months it goes to a 30xday contract too, so you can leave when you like.

Like you, I’m happy with EE but it makes sense for me to go back to O2.

I’m never going back to Three; worst customer service I’ve ever had. I called for a PAC in case I saw a better deal and by the time they agreed to give me it I was determined to leave. Worse, they told one of my friends that she should not transfer her number because ladies sometimes need a new number to stop them being harassed. And not said in a jokey way. Awful.

I considered Virgin but they’re not able to provide broadband at my new address (well, they are but I lost the enthusiasm for battling to get them to do it after five weeks and went with Sky who’ve been excellent). I get a discount through my employer on EE so I’ve got 20GB per month for £14 which is more than ample for me.

lol, Three are good if it works but customer service is terrible to be honest used it twice each time I had to make a big formal complaint to customer relations. (No joke they even tried to make me close the complaint form by giving me 5gb extra data a month for 30 days.) lol
I told them NO give me a discount on my contract so I got around £6 pounds off a the end.
It's like fun and games over at three customer service department.

Lads... I'm getting so excited for September 12th!

Anyone still undecided over the plus/max?

The plus size never been ideal for me even though I made myself go a year with the 7+. Typically the biggest, shiniest, newest ends up winning on pre order day. The general weight of the X compared the the 8 also putting me off the XS+. Defo won’t be a one handed phone or pocketable for me.

Also keen on the AirPower, new AirPods and series 4 so keeping the costs down for a standard XS might win.... might

hahah Your like me I had the iPhone 6 Plus the phone was way to big no joke didn't even fit into my jeans but I loved the big screen size for movies.
I might just settle for the 5.8 screen size again.

Had both the 6+ and 6s+ on release days and returned both in the first 2 weeks due to size. Forced myself to keep the 7+ in anticipation for a larger tenth anniversary iPhone last year.. the X came out and stepping back down those few mm made a big difference. The addition of the case doesn’t help either. Handling the phones in store without cases always makes me feel like “yeah the plus works for me!”

I'm not sure if I had an official discount or whether that's just the cost of my Max Plan. It was a Black Friday discount I think.

When logging into EE website, it states '12M SIM Max 22GB £26'. I don't remember seeing anything that says 'After 12 months your price increases to £35 etc'. Hmm...

Have a look at the PDF version of the bill. There should be a page with your standard charge (mine says 12mSIM Max 12GB £32.99) then a bunch of discounts (£10 plan discount, student discounts etc). I’ve stil got my plan discounts after 12 months, but I’ve lost others. I honestly cant figure out why I’ve kept some and lost others. When I checked they said they could only be re-applied by signing up for a new plan online, and some of those discounts can no longer be applied to Max/Annual upgrade plans. Bit annoying, but check with the call centre. They usually have a bit of license to offer you a good deal

You should be getting a better deal now.
Competition on the data allowances has heated up in the last two months on all networks.
My brother Just bagged a EE sim plan yesterday for £16 with 20gb he a existing EE customer for two years. (But that plan he changed to isn't the EE max plan )

Mine seems to just be the cost of the plan, rather than a discount, I think.
