Anyone still undecided over the plus/max?

The plus size never been ideal for me even though I made myself go a year with the 7+. Typically the biggest, shiniest, newest ends up winning on pre order day. The general weight of the X compared the the 8 also putting me off the XS+. Defo won’t be a one handed phone or pocketable for me.

Also keen on the AirPower, new AirPods and series 4 so keeping the costs down for a standard XS might win.... might

Still undecided as well.
For me, the size of the X is ideal.

I like the screen size on the Plus model iPhones but the physical size is cumbersome in my honest opinion.

To be honest, it will all boil down to price.
If it does turn out that the Xs is going to cost £899, and the Xs Max/Plus is going to cost £999 or above, then I'm going to opt for the Xs unless the Max/Plus has extra features that I'd want.

Also really want to upgrade my S2 to S4 Watch.

All will be revealed in 3 days!

Same down to pricing happy to pay £899 for a normal size X.

Looking forward to seeing what people end up ordering etc when pre-sales go live.

For the first time I will be sticking with my iPhone 8 as I need to pay down some debts but will be interesting to see what everyone who gets one thinks of them etc!

I've tried all the other networks, but keep coming back to EE. Their 4G speeds and coverage seem to be much, much better than other networks.

Yes it’s still about 30% faster on 4G than other networks. 4G coverage is getting closer between the networks, but EE is still a few percentage points ahead. Data in the table on this report:
https://opensignal.com/reports/2018/04/uk/state-of-the-mobile-network

I’m also on the sim only Max plan like others here. I think the 25GB limit should be fine for next couple of years. Hopefully EE make Max plans available again by then.

Looking forward to the Xs Max, I’ve missed the size of my 7 plus. I might go for the 512GB as I like to keep my whole photo library offline (using like 180GB atm). I’m on the iUP so hopefully that process runs smoothly, I really want to get it on launch day this time.

Apologies if this has been mentioned already in this long thread but does anyone know if Envirofone have a code this year giving you an extra 10% on their trade-in prices?

Pricing apparently leaked from a Chinese meeting today and the prices translate to $699 for the iPhone Xc, $899 for the Xs and $999 for the Xs Plus.

That would convert to the same but in pounds for us brits.
Happy to pay £899 for the Xs, and maybe even £999 for the Xs Plus depending on any exclusive features.

Hoping to sell my iPhone X for £500 soon.

Yeah if I was going to bet on the prices it would be that and with £699 for iPhone 9.

Although I think that’s what they will be in dollars, hopefully they don’t judge the exchange rate risk to be even worse this year and hike them up compared to US prices.

Interestingly a German site gave these prices, with £/$150 difference between storage levels and translating to £s would give this:
https://9to5mac.com/2018/09/05/iphone-pricing-rumors/

€799 UK: £699
€909 UK: £799
€1149 UK: £999

Not sure if I agree with this, I wouldn’t expect a £200 difference between 5.8in and 6.5in that seems too large, and the 5.8 only being £100 more than the budget model. Plus I would expect a £200 difference between 256GB and 512GB (going off iPad Pros), unless the storage prices have gone down, then I could see the £150 difference making sense. I’d go for:

iPhone 9 (6.1in):
£/$699 (64GB), £/$849 (256GB)

iPhone Xs (5.8in):
£/$899 (64GB), £/$1049 (256GB), £/$1249 (512GB)

iPhone Xs (6.5in):
£/$999 (64GB), £/$1149 (256GB), £/$1349 (512GB)

Anyway we will find out in less than two days haha.

Well £150 was the price difference from last year 64GB iPhone X to the 256GB model

Had both the 6+ and 6s+ on release days and returned both in the first 2 weeks due to size. Forced myself to keep the 7+ in anticipation for a larger tenth anniversary iPhone last year.. the X came out and stepping back down those few mm made a big difference. The addition of the case doesn’t help either. Handling the phones in store without cases always makes me feel like “yeah the plus works for me!”

I like the extra screen real estate offered by the Plus size phones, and also the slightly higher resolution. But the extra weight of the my 8 Plus vs my previous 7 Plus has made carting it around feel cumbersome. I run 10 or so miles from my workplace a few times a week and I really notice the 8 Plus when it's stowed away in an elastic pouch around my waste, whereas the iPhone 6 once upon a time was near-imperceptible.

Whilst I was in the Apple store the other day, I had a side-by-side play with my 8 Plus and a demo X, particularly focusing on the smallest font size on each phone (pretty close, if not identical) and the density of text that can be displayed on each (8 Plus won, only just due to the slightly wider aspect ratio).

The problem is the usually very good Apple 2 week return window is next to useless, as there very likely won't be enough stock to make an exchange if you change your mind.

I'm sold on the Xs and I'm looking forward to reclaiming some pocket space!

Yes I think it will stay the same but the iPads are £200 currently from 256GB to 512GB. It would be strange if there was a mismatch across iPhone and iPad. Out of interested what does the forum think of speculation that iPads will be launched at an event next month instead. I’ve not seen any big news sites/analysts corroborate this theory.

Guessing the iPad difference is due to bigger size I imagine.

Hoping new iPads come next week but who knows. They may wait til November

Given the X weighs more then the 8, so I’d expect the Xs plus to weigh more than the equivalent 8 plus size. I wasn’t comfortable one handed with the existing plus, I think the Xs plus won’t work

..

(I still know I’ll have ordered one next week )

I was a but miffed when i bought my 7 plus a few years ago and they only had 32gb (which wasnt quite enough) or 128gb for me to choose from so I ended up with 128gb which was far too much.
I initially bought the 32GB and returned, glad I did then opted for the 128GB.

For me it’s the sweet spot, it’s not absolutely overkill like the 256GB. It gives me enough breathing room, I’ll likely never use the full 128GB and I definitely won’t be using 256GB. However 64GB I’ve been passed that and recently managed to drop down to 52GB. Which is right on the border of usualable space of 64GB.

For the price I feel it should have definitely been 128GB last year for example.

Hello all! Nearly that time again! So I'll be looking to trade my 8 in to upgrade as I buy cash each year. Skipped the X as I was skint, regret it massively so this year I'm going all in! Lol

Anyway looking on mazuma they've got £380 for an unlocked 8. Does anyone know of any codes or anything? I know last year there was a 5% one floating around

I can see the reasoning for the 64/256 offering though. A lot of people will have been unsure whether 64GB is enough and opted for the 256GB. $$$ for Apple.

I went back and forth on this a lot and finally decided on 64GB (a bit reluctantly). If the base storage was 128GB it would have been an easy decision for me and many others.

I remember the 5s options being 16/64GB which made the choice straightforward (64GB was the sweetspot for me at the time). Had 32GB been an option I would have had a similar dilemma as I had with the X.

Will be interesting to see what happens this year. I agree 128GB is the sweetspot now.

Edit: thinking about it I may be misremembering the 5s options.. could be 6.

Ok, decided I’d get a locked-in price from Envirofone for my immaculate unlocked iPhone X (256gb) before the slide begins. £635. Seems ok for a no hassle trade-in especially if the predictions about lower pricing this year are correct.

Hopefully the new one will be available by the time I have to send mine in. From recollection they give you 14 days and often extend that by a week.

Minded to go for an XS Plus. :)
