Out of curiosity, do any of you guys face WiFi or 3/4G signal deterioration? There are growing concerns in this forum that the Xs (esp Max) have antenna performance issues. Mine, in comparison to the X was slightly worst at first but now over time slightly better.
Had an XS for a day ,and yes the network performance was not as good as my X ,I returned that set due to very bad off axis blue tint ,and due to getting messed around with an instore exchange yesterday( nobody told me I needed to bring a passport /drivers license ,due to buying on the iPhone payments plan ) ,I had no option but to cancel the sale ,as I was unable to do another 60 mile round trip to get my passport.
However I still have my X ,and I don't feel I,m missing out on very much over the Xs ,the camera was the only thing that stood out over the X

I suspect this issue will blow up in the next week or so and hopefully Apple does something. Unacceptable for this day and age let alone a £1k+ device. Still have my X by the side for comparison. Others might want to hold back.

Slightly off subject, I have been looking on e-bay at the prices being asked. One chap had a Xs Max 512gb, starting bid £1995, buy it now £3000, not surprisingly it did not sell. Hopefully the scalpers got their fingers burned this year

scalpers dont get fingers burnt. they just return for a full refund...

but yes, there is no coin to be made any more on iphones. Plentiful stock..
and to be honest, it was about time Apple made this happen!

After a few days with the 44, when I was in the apple store yesterday I compared mine by side with the 40... wow did it look small in comparison.

‘Moral of my story’... you get use to the size very quickly and I wouldn’t give up the screen space for anything now

They only have the gold in stock at the Apple store with. I could try the 44mm again.

Yes, my wi-fi reception at home seems to vary considerably.
This morning, I was getting a silly 0.5 Mbps upstairs, but minutes later downstairs, a full 70+ M.
Might be to do with the connection with my BT WholeHome mesh network: either the 2.4/5 GHz steering or the discs firmware themselves.. a search of the BT forums reveals others have similar trouble with iOS 12 generally.
Although my iPad on iOS 12 is working just fine everywhere in my house.

So I've reset everything, updated firmware etc, and will keep an eye on it.

I bought Belkin one whilst I was in store collecting my XS - the Apple dudes installed it there and then using a machine which resulted in a 100% bubble free perfect install.

How wide is the protector?

I have one on my 8+ and it only covers the actual viewable area of the screen, so there’s 3 or 4mm around the whole front that’s completely unprotected.

I just did a speedtest test on my XS here in the office where I am getting 2-3 bars on 4G. I'm based in Cannon Street City of London (EC4N) and on EE.

Download I'm getting around 34Mbs and Upload I'm getting around 13Mbs - don't actually know if this is good or not?!!

I’d kill for speeds like that!

...I use an app that monitors my sleep. Turns that red wine is not good for deep sleep but is very good (bad) for keeping the pulse over 70. Normally is 50 to 55 whilst sleeping with no alcohol

Which app is that? Would you recommend it?

It covers the whole area of the phone. There is about 1mm between the edge of the protector and the edge of the Apple leather case I have on it. It also perfectly follows the 'Notch' area of the iPhone XS.

It looks just like this:

This is the exact one : https://www.apple.com/uk/shop/produ...visiglass-ultra-screen-protector-for-iphone-x

It has naff reviews but worked great for my 8 Plus so went for it again on my XS.

In other news, HSBC app now updated and works on my XS. People still tweeting about it not working but I set it up from fresh download and seems fine.

My XS Max is great but it is driving me nuts too. I can't turn it off. The YouTube App crashes. Siri doesn't work. Videos wont play in landscape only portrait even with though the portrait lock is off. My new laptop wont recognise it on iTunes either. I'm going to the EE shop today to see if they can help me.

Has anyone else had these issues? I can't even restore it back to factory settings it wont let me.

Anyone having signal problems on 3uk same place same location phone next to each other.
iPhone X 64GB Space Grey 3uk 4-5 bars signal never had a call drop out.
iPhone XS Max 64GB Space Grey 3uk 1-2 bars signal calls always drop out.
Something not right here.

You might be better off going to the Genius Bar, they'll likely be able to offer more technical support than EE can offer.

Quick update after using the XS Max on my hols & for those still undecided.

I went from the X to the XS Max and, whilst I appreciated the easier form factor of the X, I appreciate the screen size & battery length more on the XS Max.

The screen real estate is just phenomenal all in the size of about the 8 Plus. Movies, YouTube, camera videos all look awesome. Both the X & Max are fast, smooth & slick. I think it’s worth noting with the Max your getting a lot more screen than the 8 Plus in a similar size.

Compared to the X, yes you do know your carrying a bigger iPhone but it’s still manageable & does not feel unwieldy.
Also re. weight of the Max I’ve had no probs holding it for a long period of time.

Battery is much much better than my X. Lasts for significantly longer than my X did before requiring a recharge.

I also have the new (too expensive!) 30W USB-C adapter which charges the Max from zero to 100% in just over 1 hour. By any standard, that’s extremely rapid fast charging!

New cameras features make for really impressive photos that look similar to pro photos without doing much post-photo enhancing or adjustments.

I have an official Apple black leather case on & it adds a small amount of extra bulk but not much. I’ve carried it up a mountain, around town & on the beach, pool etc. No issues for me in the pocket or holding it walking etc.

Decision for me will come down to memory management over the next 14 days - I’ve got only 64GB in my Max compared to 256GB in my X due to more iCloud use.

Lastly, I’ve got an Orzly glass tempered screen protector on that cost only a fiver to include two protectors & pretty decent flexi-case. The protector leaves just over 1mm around the edge but allows enough room for the official leather case. No issues so far. Feels really smooth like the screen etc.

One tip, I always apply the screen protector immediately right after taking the Apple plastic protection off out the box which results in a 100% bubble-free application.

So, in all, I’m really loving the XS Max experience!

I Just received my iPhone XS MAX this morning notice the signal bars isn't right only 1 bar.
Old X showing 4 or 5 bars.

Try a Speedtest on both devices, and post the results here.

Looks like slowly but surely people are starting to notice the reception issue with the Xs. It fluctuates a lot. I still have my X by the side and it holds the signal better. Definitely not iOS 12 related.

I’m stuck between the two of them as well!
I can’t help feeling that a 6.1 inch screen would be the ideal compromise.... but no way I’m going for a single lens / LCD!
[doublepost=1537789816][/doublepost]Can’t say I agree about the signal issues - my Max has 50% speed test improvement over LTE. Over 150Mb down on EE.
