Music magpie seems to increase their prices a little yesterday, plus the tech10 code you can just do another order now and get 14 days again

Excellent advice -I'll re try as 14 days should suffice for o2 unlock.
Appreciated-nice idea.
I was going to be struggling to get to post office any evening this week.
14 days opens up possibility of posting next mon or Tue over next 2 weeks-amazing!

Wonder if the signal problems are down to everyone joining EE? :D:p

;)
Not unless it’s also affecting the signal in Spain. ;)

Just did some field test mode digging on our phones, interestingly where I am now the XS is getting as strong or stronger signal than the X. Maybe suggests a software issue rather than hardware/ antenna design? Will investigate more over the next couple of days.

anyone on EE used the annual upgrade plan to upgrade before 12 months (such as got the original X and now getting the XS Max)? Did they let you upgrade early or do you have to wait the 12 months? Considering an annual upgrade on EE although the prices for the new contracts are shocking!

Yes, but I had to pay £100 early upgrade fee (which was later waived as a gesture of good will)

Xs is arriving tomorrow :)
When I'm not going to be home.
Short drive required to depot tomorrow evening.
Meanwhile I'll continue to keep 8 safe until unlocked to secure generous trade in.

That’s 12.1 not 12.0.1. 12.1 is still a month away from public release (if they decide it ship it with XR) or maybe more. Apple will likely release a small update in meantime. They released tvOS 12.0.1 a day or two ago so maybe they will release it for iOS as well, perhaps with a fix for the network issues.

How does the early upgrade work? Do u hand back your old phone? Or can you keep it and pay an amount to EE? What as the amount for the X?

I choose which 3rd party company to return i phone 8 to for a payment.
I could have restruned to existing provider, though I have went with 3rd party wom I had used for se 2017.
Agreed £375 UK pounds for i phone 8- current balance £456 as I've only had it for a few months.
Addiotnalcost to myself £81-£90 pounds including guaranteed postage.
What I had done in past is kept I phone 5 and 6 for full 2 years contract and returned them to existing provider for a small return payment,
My interest in Xs this time got me enticed enough to purchase early or a few days since launch.
I've been reviewing i pad pro 10.5 -I could make £50 pounds if I were to trade in though no new i pads yet -no hurry it only has 10months of contract left.
I do't use EE, I use O2 and Sky mobile.
Sky mobile is my new i phone provider -and Sony xa2 android.
O2 retains my i pad pro account at least until mid 2019.
All going well I could look to purchase another i Pad and move all devices over to Sky mobile.

Anybody in UK suffering from the signal and WiFi issue some are experiencing in the US?
Yes, I am.

I thought at first that it was a network problem, having switched from O2 to EE. Now I’m just not sure.

All in all though I am extremely disappointed. What’s the point of having a mobile with connectivity issues? It rather defeats the point. The flaming thing cost £1,249 too!

I’m seriously considering taking it back and trying another unit. Beginning to regret that I parted with my perfectly good X now.

My thoughts entirely!!!! From crappy chipsets to still including the same 5W charger for a phone that’s £1249 we should all really expect better from a tech company that’s worth so much money it’s frankly absurd.

I wish some genuine competition would come along for Apple because let’s face it they’re taking the total pee out of us. But what do we do? Switch to Android? No thanks.

Starting to wish I’d saved the £1249 now and stuck with the X

I might be the only one, but the most annoying thing about the Xs line is the placement of the antenna bands. Especially on the bottom ruining the symmetry(speaker grills). It’s not a biggie but small things like this make all the difference...

Yeah. Was out and aboutt yesterday & there were multiple points where I had no signal and my old X had a decent connection (both phones using EE SIMs): toggling airplane mode etc. made no difference, it would just display “searching” for a few seconds then “no signal” again. We are roaming at the moment (Spain) so that may be affecting it but I don’t see why - you’d expect both phones to be affected the same. Pretty disappointed as well, if there is no fix by middle of next week I’m returning it and going back to the X: am regularly out and about in the countryside on my bike so having a dodgy signal is a no-no for me. Shame as otherwise it’s a great device.

I’m with Vodafone, just did a speed test check of my 4G signal today and got:

170mbps download speed
47.7mpbs upload speed

That’s pretty fast so no probs with using Voda network.

I think I am returning my Max 256gb to EE. I just dont think I can justify the extra £17 a month difference in talk plan cost from my X

I must admit the camera is amazing on this phone. The screen is really clear too, but I just cant justify the price increase to £93 a month
