I said I won’t bite this year for the Xs Max but I’m heading out to Vegas on monday for a few weeks.

Just worked out that the sim free 256gb version works out to be $1249 + 8.25% sales tax = $1352 which at today’s rate comes at £1036. That’s a saving of £213.

Only snag will be availability and a chance that the esim part might not work in the UK as I know this was an issue with the s3 cellular watch. Personally I can’t rememebr having the need to swap sims as I’ve got USA and EU roaming in my tariffs so I could live without that.

I think I’m gonna take a punt.

I'm heading off to Canada and tempted to do similar. Just not sure of potential implications.

Thats a good saving on the retail price i have a friend going out in afew weeks hmmm doubt i want to wait though.

just shows how much we are penalised in the UK with VAT at 20% and then the obvious additional costs apple charge us for the same product.

I’m torn. My 8 plus is on apple upgrade, so I’ll likely upgrade to the 256 max but that’s some serious wedge at £68 a month for just the phone.

Then the watch series 4. I’m on O2 so no cellular for me. The ECG isn’t active in the UK and tbh may never be. The SS 44mm is £750! May just keep my series 2 SS
Yeah I wanted the series 4 but not ECG and I think it will be a long time if it ever comes over here. I have a cellular series 3 and I’m on o2 so haven’t even used the cellular on my series 3 yet. So I might as well stick with my series 3.

I have the iPhone X and I’m on the yearly upgrade programme but not eligible to upgrade until the beginning of December. However I’m already paying £84 for the iPhone X and if I were to
Upgrade to the XS max that would be even more.

I'm umming and ahhing about how to do things tomorrow morning.

I want to get the 44mm Series 4 silver stainless steel watch with sport band, but I also want to upgrade my iPhone on iUP.

Do we reckon I should reserve the phone first then order the Watch, or vice versa? Want both on launch day but I'm torn!

Going for Xs Max 256 gold and Series 4 44mm SS gold
Only thing is I’m on iUP and not sure how it’s going to work tomorrow. Will we have a special section on the app of just need to preorder with pickup as usual?

Remember that you may be out doing your upgrade when they try to deliver your watch! I'm going to get my watch delivered to my other half's work just in case (if I get one that is)

Hey all!

Well I’m very disappointed to be honest!!

Last year the X was a no brainier for me. This year as someone who pays outright I really can’t justify the cost for such minor features.

Gutted!

Oh and I only bought a Milanese loop watch 2 months ago!!!! So can’t even upgrade to the newer watch :(

I don’t know about you guys but I find that the Apple keynotes get more and more boring every year? Blabbing on about so much guff says to me it’s a minor upgrade at best.

Losing the thrill for the yearly Apple gear, I didn’t even watch it last night

Behind you!
Does anyone remember the best way to reserve an iPhone for the upgrade program? I can’t remember how I reserved my X last year!

Through the app, tomorrow morning, should we go to account > iup and through that way, checking eligibility etc,

Or should we put the model we want in our bag and then will there be an option for iup in the checkout?

Thanks for anyone’s help!

For the last couple of years or so there was an in-store reservation page accessible via the page for the iPhone upgrade program — if you refreshed that at 8:01 on the Friday you could select up to two units and pick a store and reservation time. Unfortunately that particular link doesn’t seem to be visible… yet! If I or anyone else spots it I’m sure it’ll get posted here though.

Generally the Apple Store iOS app is the fastest way to get a straight up purchase but since the reservation link isn’t visible quite yet there’s always a chance things may work differently this time around.

Ok, some questions before pre-orders go live tomorrow:

1. If we do indeed ore-order tomorrow morning, are we guaranteed a new iPhone whether we pick an early delivery slot (i.e. a 09:00 time slot) or a later lunch time slot (i.e. a 13:00 time slot)? Not sure whether it's still worth getting to the store early if I have pre-ordered already?

2. I was gonna purchase an Apple Leather iPhone X case to use with my iPhone XS but it seems all iPhone X accessories have been removed from the website?! Would an iPhone X case fit the XS (I'm assuming the 2 phones are the same spec, size wise)?

3, Watch related - why is the Space Black Stainless Steel watch ONLY available with GPS AND Cellular??! I was hoping to pick one up with just GPS but it seems Apple does not have a model like this?!

On a plus point - it's good to see the Nike watches at the same price (£399) as the standard watch (perhaps they have always been I just never noticed!!).

For me, I will definitely be going with the 64Gb iPhone XS but not sure whether to choose Space Grey again (all my devices have been space grey = boring!!) or the Silver (which may actually not look too great with all colour cases!).

As far as the watch is concerned, for me, it's not an essential Day 1 purchase so will probably pick one up, to replace my Series 0, between now and Xmas.

Thank you for your reply, I think I got it through that link last year, manically hitting refresh!

Let's hope for a new link or at least a smooth process for tomorrow!

I don’t understand why people are disappointed. I’d be stoked if bought an X last year and didn’t feel compelled to upgrade. Shouldn’t you be happy your incredibly expensive phone is still very, very relevant and advanced?

Barring some questions I’ll have about AppleCare, I’ll probably be going for a 512gb XS. That should do me for the next 3, maybe 4, years. I’ll be coming from a 6S so looking forward to the step up :)

I didn’t get to watch it all as my kids were getting cranky right around the time the iPhone was announced. So I’m going to watch it again today and see if there is anything worth upgrading for apart from the screen size. I already have a 256GB X so can’t even use the storage as an excuse to upgrade because although I would get the 512GB I’m good with 256GB and have about 100GB to spare. If there were more compelling features then I could over look the price but at the moment I haven’t seen any. I’ll probably still get the max anyway as a Christmas present to myself lol as much as I’m moaning now.

My wallet is happy but I am sad as I enjoy the build up of it all! It’s mostly the same faces on here each year and is a bit of fun !

Well apart from the newcomers who come in and ask the same questions which are answered the page previously!!

If I was on the iPhone upgrade programme and could upgrade for same cost then it’d be a no brainier but as I buy outright I can’t justify £1249 plus AppleCare for those tiny new features

Ive been like that for a few years now.

Only reason im buying the Xs Max and buying it outright is because I have a crazy good SIM only deal for £20 a month with EE and ive saved up £1300 over the last few months to upgrade from my 7 Plus.

The days of a yearly upgrade for me are long gone and the iUP doesn't interest me in the slightest.

IF I had the iPhone X then I would sit this year out, even if I wanted the Max.

And yes, the keynotes don't have the same excitement feel to them now. Its mainly stat padding and features half the buyers wont even notice etc :D

I’m on a yearly upgrade with o2 but due to the cost of the max I know my tariff will increase quite a bit and I’m not seeing the improvements. Maybe once the phone is out and people have had a chance to test out the camera I might find something worthwhile.
