Isn’t this just the same as iup? The only difference being that the monthly iup includes the cost of Apple Care and instead of calling Mizuma on month 12 to get a price and selling to them, you just Upgrade and Apple pays off the remaining balance on the loan with Barclays?
I’d rather pay less and not have the Apple care though

I am still confused about new IUP logistics. When I look at the app says I can go in store at 8.01 on 14th to join the IUP. Does that mean I can sign up and they send the iPhone on the 21st or I have to collect it again? Does the store need to have stock? When does your contract start?
[doublepost=1536786144][/doublepost]
don't forget US sales tax so you compare apples with apples with our VAT. Still cheaper in US.
If you join the IUP then taking out AppleCare is mandatory you can’t join the program without it.

....you can pre-order the phone via the Apple Store Up which will then reserve you a 1 hour time slot in which to go and collect it on the 21st. When you are in store, you then opt for the IUP in order to finance the purchase.

I know the Apple Store App says ‘Join the IUP’ but you won’t actually be able to do this until you get to the store on the 21st.

...I know. I am on the iUp for the X at the moment.

Just saying that having been an iphone user since 2008, I have never used applecare. My dilemma is, do I go for the iup upgrade, or go for the iphone payments option which is £10 cheaper a month and then sell the phone this time next year.

This.

Being on iup though, I just don't miss the hassle of selling the phone after 11 months.

I actually had more success through a browser last year and managed to bag a launch day X. Just remember to clear your cache between refreshes as it can look like it’s still down if not.

I’d also recommend marking your options as favourites today and familiarising yourself with the checkout process

Thanks!! On it ALL :) No stranger to the overall pre-order process (and have lots of 'fastest finger first' practice through the year with concert ticket on-sales ;) ) all my wants are favourited, and I'll be poised and ready with iPhone, iPad(s), Macbook, and ...windows PC... ready for the 'refreshing' process. Just hope I get a web option to use PayPal. Going for the Xs Max and then back in for the Series 4 as a separate purchase *fingers crossed*

No it hasn’t yet either. My iUP page does state I can come back tomorrow morning and make a reservation so even if it hasn’t come through we should still be able to make the order.

I think on mine it says i'll just have to make an additional payment in-store - my 'upgrade eligibility' is at 8.01 tomorrow morning.

haahha Been to a three uk store and ask about iPhone XS Max contract prices he said they could be £112 with all u can eat everything I was like. wtf nearly £2700 for a mobile phone for 2 years get lost. lol
[doublepost=1536838928][/doublepost]These prices are becoming insane let's face it.
I did purchase a iPhone 4s for £499 with base storage for 16gb.
Contract prices was £30 unlimited everything with free handset.
Now they want £1099 for 64gb base storage and contract prices costing over £100 a month for two whole years.

I’m dubious about ordering on the Apple upgrade programme. I just feel it’ll take longer to order (more steps to complete the order) rather than ordering to buy outright.

Someone said (somewhere) that they bought outright, took it back to Apple. Got a refund then bought it back on the upgrade programme? Anyone know anything about this?
I was worried about that last year but I'm sure I was told that there were separate allocations. I had no problem getting a 256gb X through the iUP bit on the app.

Hi everyone!

So the last couple of years I have had the same issue on order day (as I think have many others)........ when ordering using Apple pay through the App, everything has processed, but then at a later point the payment has failed and Apple have emailed me to request me to validate the payment details. This then doesn't work and I have to call Apple to remove the 'Apple Pay' transaction and process the card payment over phone. Fortunately neither time has this impacted my delivery date.

According to my bank, they have not blocked any of these transactions.

Anyone know if any way to prevent this from happening again?

Thanks!
Don’t know which bank you are with, but, I am with Lloyd’s.They do have a max amount you can use with Apple Pay, although, when asked, they are very cagey about it. I always go with CC on high value items. I think that most banks have a limit on Apple Pay, I know Starling do as well.

Time, because it rules EVERYTHING!
How would a sim free unlocked XS work? It seems only Vodafone and EE actually support the E sim here in the U.K. so if I wanted to buy one and use it on Tesco Mobile, how does it work? Stick the SIM card in as usual and hope it works?

I not playing this game anymore no money no purchase save up for it sim free cheap £15 sim deal.
To me its a mugs game.

I’ve been sim free for a while, best value you can get imo. Mind you still have to buy the phone out right, which if you do only get it direct from Apple or John Lewis, because if you buy from Carphone Warehouse for instance, the phone will actually lock itself to the first sim inserted and setup on it.. I found out the hard way with that!
[doublepost=1536839830][/doublepost]
It should work exactly the same as any other iPhone.

Cheers buddy. Need to see these phones and have a very long hard think... hmm..
I was thinking Max 64GB but would keep it for four years or so hmm..

Does everyone who went for iUP have a very decent credit rating?

I am thinking I will try and reserve through the app for iPhone upgrade.

One thing I can’t remember is when do you choose to reserve for the iUP? Is it at checkout? I’m normally in so much of a rush I don’t pay any attention to the options :)

Judging by some of the posts in here, I think I'm going to be priced out of an upgrade. The Max is my only viable option if I upgraded. I guess my only hope is that o2 allow me to pay X amount upfront that brings down the monthly cost for the handset.

Pretty sure the cpw phones locking to first sim is no longer the case. Memories of a pretty long debate on this last year and I called and spoke to a number of people at cpw saying that this locking was no long the case.

UK prices are a joke, I remember Apple last year using Brexit as an excuse because they thought the pound would tumble against the Dollar which hasn't happened. This year they don't have an excuse to changing the $ to a £ symbol.

Saying that, I had a quick look around various Apple stores. From what I can tell, Switzerland is the cheapest to buy the new iPhones. XS 64gb is £50 less than the UK. Everywhere else seems to be £20-50 more expensive than the UK. I'd imagine this would apply across all models.

Outside of Europe, the US is the cheapest before tax at $999/£765 (or $1099/£842 as some states charge around 10%).

However Hong Kong and Japan come in slightly cheaper around £839.

The gap between US/Japan/HK and UK prices widens as you go for other models quite considerably from what I see. Yes we're being ripped off but from what I can tell, majority of the world is being screwed over by more than us which for a trillion dollar company is a joke but that's the times we live in.

I'll stick with my trusty 8+, hasn't failed me yet.

I don't understand why anyone would trade in their phone to Apple on iUP or iPP, you are essentially giving apple free money. After 11 months, your phone is worth more than what is left on the loan. Selling to Mizuma Mobile or Envirophone or any of those guys is literally a case of filling in the form, putting phone in box (that they send you) drop off at post office, and 2 days later the cash is in your account. My example this year:

Trade in to Apple, Apple pays off £340 left on balance of loan. I get a new phone.
Trade in to Mizuma, I get £460, I pay off the £340. I get a new phone+£120.

Each country’s government charges different import taxes on goods though. I agree they’re expensive, but Apple have sold 60 million iPhone X at £1k each, so it’s not like people won’t pay it.

Yes uk people always get taken like mugs we hardly do anything about it just look at virgin media price rise (March RPI November £3) twice in one year.
Energy and mobile companies here have us like mugs too with yearly price rises.
