with cindori's flash.app? Which clock did you use? Regular or overclock?

Yes, I used Cindori's flash.app. I used the Overclock package. I'm running Snow Leopard 10.6.1.

The GC I used the POWERCOLOR PLUS AX4890 1GBD5-UH Radeon HD 4890 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 CrossFire Supported Video Card - OC Edition - Retail recommended from the 4980 Compatability thread.

I bought the card yesterday from Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131152

Things are running great!

Looks like that card has now been deactivated! Unbelievable!

Would those of you that tried newer cards (such as new Sapphire and XFX) please post exactly which one you tried so that I can update the Compatibility Thread with cards that failed. I'm sure many people would appreciate this so they don't go out and buy a card that has already been attempted. Provide a link to the exact product if you can find it (Newegg, Manufacturer Site, etc).

Hi doccelo
I have tried the cad in this link
http://www.force3d.com/products/hd4890.html

I stil can't say if it is compatible or not, as I have not tried flashing it yet.

one note about it, I see like liquid cooling pipes inside the cover!, are ll the cards that way?
also the fan runs ? maximum speed "very noisy" when I start my mac.

those are not liquid pipes.. just normal metal heat pipes...to direct heat

like the ones on my accellero fan

Hi cindori
I don't know what went wrong
the card didn't work after installing natit

Sorry
tried slot 1 & 2 no difference
using mac pro 2008 SL 10.6.1

chime is there but only black screen

Monitor hp 2448

any suggestion

did you power the card? how?

also post pic from system info/graphics with 4890 inside

no. didn't try it in Windows.

Actually because of fan noise I didn't like the card at all.

The card cost about 253$, It doesn't even have the power cables needed. "I have used cables from sapphire card to check if it would work before loosing more money"
The place I bought it from have a return policy with restocking fees of 13.33$.

I think I may go with nvidia 285, I will keep looking in ebay for a nice deal.

Thanks every body for your help.
Special thanks for Cindori for him helping every one around the globe.

fan noise might go 100% if your comp does not detect card properly, windows is a good way to test if something is wrong with card / power management. but since it's a excotic card and you didnt have success on first attempt, better return while theres still a chance.

Ok great, let us know how it goes for you and remember to post your results in the "compatibility" thread. Thanks!

Head + Wall = Ouch

Hello all, recent buyer of an XFX HD 4890 ZDFC 1GB card here.(Version 5.4 if it matters.) I've read mixed results from others concerning this card and have tried in vain so far to get mine working. No matter which route I go, either injector or flashing, the card will not work under OS X. Booting into Windows the card is detected and functions correctly. I've tried every posted ROM I can find and even rolling my own using Pipomolo's method, still no go. I'm hoping there's been some advancement on this front as others have reported varying success and failure with this card. If not that then at least some helpful suggestions before I throw in the towel and return the card for something else. I'll attach the dumped BIOS of my card in case that can help Netkas or Rominator come up with something.(Someone had mentioned making a new ROM for the updated XFX models.) Thanks for any help and please let me know if there's any more info you need.

This is the card so that others can think again before buying: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...&cm_mmc=TEMC-RMA-Approvel-_-Content-_-text-_-

are you able to boot the mac with only 4890?
that is, do osx loads? try doing something to check, like, raising volume and listen for the "blip blops"

if osx does not load and your comp halts at black screen, replace with apple card and then go check system log to see what happened (most likely KP, but check why)

Cindori thank you for the quick reply, hope your chair is comfy. Depending on which version of the ATY injectors I used the system would either load to a gray screen with dancing horizontal black lines or kernel panic once things were handed off to OS X. When using your flashing application the first time, God I was hoping it would be that simple, the system booted to a garbled black and orange screen which I believe someone has previously posted an example of. I didn't think to test if the desktop had loaded since nothing could be made out. I can verify though that your application does work since I've been able to successfully re-flash the original ROM to get back up and running.(If you want to get crazy with it you could change it so it will ask the user to locate the ROM they want to use to make it more of a general ATI flasher.) Once I started using the multitude of available ROMs I got mixed results as well. In almost all cases the system did load to desktop as best as I can remember. If I booted the system with both monitors attached to the 7300 then it would nag me about the power cables not being plugged in correctly to the 4890. Booting with one or both monitors attached to the 4890 would always give me a slightly corrupted Apple logo screen and then either go black once the desktop loaded or result in a horribly discolored desktop.(As if it were being displayed in 8-bit color as opposed to 32-bit.) When it was the latter I could move the mouse and use the keyboard, albeit with quite some lag. Attempting to change the resolution would cause the screen to turn blue like you get just before your desktop finishes loading. I tried taking screenshots but for some reason it never worked. That's all the details I can think of right now and I have a few weeks before I have to return it if I choose to so I don't mind testing new ROMs on it. Attached to this post is a screen of what is displayed under ASP using the stock ROM. Hope that helps.

P.S. Thank you for taking the time to make your flashing package for the community and for continuing to support it.

I am planning that for an upcoming release. but atm, too much work in school :(

since neither injectors or efi roms work, I am clueless
I might get deeper on the subject of efi roms at a later time
for now, if I were you, id look for another card. since no other user got the ZDFC v5.4 to work.

Could you tell me which ROM you used to get it working and a possible link to the card you purchased?

Hi, actually i just use the files over here...
http://forum.hardmac.com/index.php?showtopic=6384

And i purchased in verkkokauppa.com this is Finnish web store.
But here is the link, sorry it is Finnish. :)
