Anyone know if the Periodic Table of elements -App Atomic Mac runs on M1 Macs?
I looked here but don't see any app with those keywords. doesn't mean it does or doesn't run if it just wasn't listed.

I'm glad my workplace uses Slack instead of Team... I never really like Team.
Yeah had a call earlier today and was consuming 3.5GB MEM on total.

It's quite annoying and the thing is if you are a full on O365/Azure shop it becomes hard not to use team as the end user wants apps available on the platform (PowerApps and etc)

Honestly I kinda regret going 16GB on my 14" because I'd thought they would fix it sooner rather than late because it is a enterprise based app.. And Office at the time looked great already on the M1 Air so I was hoping they'd get out sooner.

Same for OneDrive they never release it as native / universal from the AppStore and I can't figure out why. They updated OneDrive yesterday again but they did not go Universal / Native then either,

Am I the only one crossing the yellow/red line with the 16GB on the MacBook Pro 14"? Especially when connected to dual 4K displays.. This has got to be Rosetta apps.

Hard to tell without looking more deeply at what you are running. Rosetta is pretty lightweight. it does a dynamic recompilation at first run time. it is not an Intel emulation.

If you look at Activity Monitor's memory tab it will show you which processes are using memory. Some, like browsers tend to show up as separate processes for different websites, so consider that. Some websites will continue to allocate ram while sitting in background tabs and get up to 2-4 GB of RAM per site. Forums.Macrumors.com is an offender of that type and you should look at its memory usage and close the tab once in a while. the OS will probably swap inactive tabs out to disk when more memory is needed.

I really don't wanna send this unit back.. Because I have it since launch day and would have to ask for Amazon to refund me and wait 5 or 6 weeks to get one with 32GB.

What’s actually happening on your end, though? What I’m seeing from your screenshot is that Edge, Safari, and Teams are using up roughly ½ of your Memory, and you still have a couple gigs of memory to spare. I regularly use Safari, Edge, and Citrix all day on my M1 MBP (2020), although I use Teams & Outlook as web apps, and never have any issues. I’m not connected to a 4K display, though. I have (probably way too many) external hard drives connected thru a dock, and the only real ‘issues’ I’ve seen have been continued laggy’ness with my Apple Keyboard & Magic Trackpad.

I have to close my Safari times after using them or they'll just fill in my available memory. My Window Server is around 2GB because of the 4K displays.

I just do some VS Coding to run Ansible and SSH to machines to work, do use office suite and Teams intensively as part of my workflow.

Does seem like it's the browsers eating all my RAM.

Well, in your case, it does look like just 4 apps (Safari, Edge, Teams, Outlook) along with WindowServer are using 69.1% of your RAM. WindowServer usually uses a lot of memory on my end, too. I keep most of my open apps running in Full Screen and just swipe back and forth. That tends to utilize more RAM. Also, macOS will almost ALWAYS use most (or all) of your available memory, regardless of whether you have 8, 16, 32, 64 GB .. That's just how macOS is built. It will always utilize what you've got and then will free up memory when needed (or use Swap).

I'd say, if it's possible, to just try working with another monitor briefly to test. If you can. I know that's not always an option, but otherwise it could just be the sites your going to, not the browser itself.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If the browsers are using most of the RAM, which websites are you connecting to that are using the RAM. Acitivity Monitor‘s memory tab should show you the separate URLs and you could identify which website is eating RAM.

Yeah the heavy websites are usually Reddit, Macrumors and the ones I'm using to either stream tv or Youtube at 4K.

I'll just make sure to clear these type of tabs, however MS Teams is using tons of memory for me

Yes, teams is notorious for being a hog.

So, after all this, are you having actual, functional problems due to RAM usage or just concern that the metrics don’t look good? It’s OK if your RAM usage exceeds available as long as the programs you are actively using fit into RAM. Mac OS will swap the rest to SSD.

No not really, there's some slowdown in Teams and some bluetooth sound skipping with my AirPods Max but this is only when Teams is really trying to eat memory because of the webcam in calls.

I might stop use Safari and switch to Brave when hooked up to the displays.. I think what saves me right now is that I'm not using Parallels or any local VM at all.

Just using Citrix when I need to get something done in Windows... However next time I'll upgrade to 32GB to have headroom for a couple of Linux VMs.

So everything is fine if you don’t use teams………

The mac operating system is designed to use up available memory to benefit performance. No point in it otherwise. If you had a 32gb device, most of that would show as being used too.

Another Microsoft OneDrive update for me, to v22.055.0313, and still showing as an Intel Version.

do you have the Mac App Store version or the direct download version?
Supposedly the App Store version has not been updated.

I can't tell as I don't use Onedrive on my personal M1 machine and my work machine is Intel.

I’m on the AppStore version. I’ve been tempted to just reinstall it direct from MS, but I’d prefer to keep my Office apps all from the App Store. Not that it matters too much for me, but just wanting to be consistent with my Office apps. And TBH, I’ve had zero issues with OneDrive at all. So, I can wait.

I'm really not expecting Facebook to update Messenger and What's App at this point until Apple cuts Rosetta for good. Sucks because as European most people use these apps.
