Honestly I'd say it's worth trying to get into the whatsapp beta if you can, the reduced ram usage really is worth it (and you can keep the stable app installed as well in case you need a feature that's currently missing from the beta), before native whatsapp my ram usage was often over 10gb. Native teams also helped a lot too
What is missing right now from the What's App? I'm using Native Teams and loving it! I do use a lot of the calls feature in What's App.

Just went looking into it and the beta is full atm, hopefully they can get What's App and FB Messenger as Apple Silicon native soon.

I noticed one bug trying to do a WhatsApp call - it wouldn't send the sound to my AirPods. Insisted on sending it to the MBP speakers and I couldn't find anywhere to change it...

Yeah I have this bug sometimes I have to switch it back to the MBP Pro and then pick it again on the AirPods Max in the Settings.

However if you somehow switch to another device you lose the ability to use them on the app and you have to restart it...

Status is missing, basic features like double click to reply are missing, group calls are missing, it crashes occaisionally, overall it feels very unfinished, as far as I know calls should work but I haven't tested them yet. The way I got into the beta was by finding an auto-refresh tool online and making it auto refresh the wabetainfo testflight page every 10 seconds until it showed a space

Btw now if you enrol your microsoft teams in the public developer preview (accessible by opening the 3 dots -> about menu 2 or 3 times until developer preview appears) you should recieve automatic apple silicon teams updates

Yep updated yesterday! Can’t wait to see them improving down the line, especially improving the calls and screen share power wattage.. kills my battery, not as much as Rosetta though

Mine updated tonight (both MBA and MS). Looking forward to it being faster and not suck down the battery life on my MBA.

On another note, any word on any preview builds where the Teams core audio driver is AS? Looks like it's the only Intel remnant.

I just signed out and back in. I noticed the developer preview symbol was no longer on my avatar/picture. Do you have to select it each time you sign in?

Haven't seen native core audio driver yet, although it's a tiny process so I can't imagine it having that much of an impact

You might have to reselect it

Appreciate you and others keeping an eye on that audio driver. I'm eager to start testing once that bit has been moved to AS.

What happens if you uninstall Rosseta 2?
I didn't see that Apple has provided a path to remove Rosseta 2 after it's been installed. It's my understanding you have to do a fresh install to get rid of it. Maybe others have a different experience/awareness.

It might take another 6+ months for that to happen. Look at Adobe's Creative Cloud. There are still remnants that are Intel-based a year after their transition to AS.

Received this from Microsoft's Weekly Service Updates:

We are happy to inform you that the Teams macOS desktop client is set to support Apple Silicon chips natively in the 3rd quarter of the calendar year 2022. This support will be delivered seamlessly to existing users via the usual update process. For new users and installation, the Teams macOS desktop client will come in a Universal Binary PKG which will automatically install natively for Mac devices that run on Intel or Apple Silicon device.
This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 94836

When this will happen:
The Universal Binary Build is expect to start rolling out in late August and complete in mid-September.
You can expect this update to begin rolling out in early September..
How this will affect your organization:
Users using devices that run on Apple Silicon will see optimized performance and reliability in Teams. The only impact you may notice is an increase in the size of the PKG which will be approximately 200 MB.
What you need to do to prepare:
The is no work required to prepare for this change.
First time I've heard them put a date on it.

You can remove it through terminal iirc but there's not much point, I expect apple will remove it in a few years time when they deem it's no longer necessary

Honestly it's not worth holding off just because of the audio driver, it's such a small process it's unlikely to have much of an impact even though it's running under rosetta

Hey all.
Now this has been a problem on Intel version, and a problem now on a native client.
Anyone know, why after a couple of days after restart, when you click on OneDrive icon on the menu bar, it can open basically anywhere it wants! :D

Have been in quite a few Teams meetings with the developer preview build (that's Universal). No bugs found yet. Seems to be working as expected. Have a feeling this will move to general production/official release within a few weeks.

Have you tried to ‘Focus content’? During a presentation? It gives a weird grey line above the content being displayed lol

@MrGunny94 Do you know if that build is the same build that will be in production?

I did try a lot of preview builds but all weren't really usable due to a couple of nasty bugs.
If this is the golden image so to speak, I would definitely try it again.

Teams crashes on Launch for me, regardless of whether I tic the box to have it run using Rosetta 2 or not (Universal). I've tried using apps to completely remove it (CleanMyMac X & TrashMe 3), rebooted, and reinstalled. Still crashes at launch.
