Curious?????? If you own 2 MacBooks, are you able to load the software on both with their code since its technically a free version they are giving us?

Based on my experience, yes. It's seen as just another purchase in the App Store so you can use it on other computers as well

Do not pay the $20 if you entitle a free update

For those said that $20 is no biggy and still go ahead and bought a copy at app store, please stop doing this. What kind of message you trying to send to apple here? It is like giving them incentive to screw up. I sure in the future Apple will keep screw up at the launch day of the software and say heck i got more margin by screw up. Wake up people, what we need to do is call and complaint and demand this fix!

Archaic claim form systems for a measly $20, confusing terminology all over the place. This is the type of **** I expect from Microsoft, not Apple. Wake the **** up, Tim.

i've been asked to wait 5 to 7 business days for a working code, means i'll only get it next wednesday at the earliest. i'm just not willing to wait that long for something that should have worked on day 1.

You should call again tomorrow and complaint, and ask them is this the new way apple plan to treat their loyal customer that just had spent thousand on new machine?

Completely agree. While I was really looking forward to ML today it's not worth paying for something due to their screwup. It's not about the $20, it's about principle. They screwed up and shouldn't be paid for their screwup.

We are the early adopters of their new released Macbook Pro/Retina/MBA and YET we might be the LAST to upgrade to Mountain Lion....!! *sigh*:(

I tried to resubmit but it says my serial has already been submitted.
(Which it has 15 hours ago by me.)

I just tried to resubmit because I made a mistake in my form before, and I also wanted to see if it would tell me it had already been submitted. IT had. I am assuming that once the serial is registered as being submitted that it has been manually looked at and a code has been assigned so it's just a matter of waiting for it to be emailed.

Probably wrong, but it makes sense to me.

Complete failure. Really starting to question the post-Jobs apple.

Exactly. Apple NEVER had a screw-up under Steve Jobs. cough...MobileMe...cough.

I received an e-mail from Apple saying the code would be delivered in 24-48 hours.

The bogus thing about this whole "manual check" thing is that every single 2012 Macbook Air/MacBook Pro falls within the eligibility time frame so if it's a registered 2012 machine then what exactly are they verifying?

That you own it, rather than just noting down a few S/Ns from a store, as one MR user said they were doing. I'm now worried that I entered the wrong date or a different email from the ones they were expecting.

A friend of mine purchased it for $20 from the App Store for his rMBP and then emailed Apple saying he "forgot" about the Up-to-date Program. Apple said he would receive a $20 refund. Though I am just going to wait for my code, this may be an option for those who are anxious.

Might Work

I havent received my code yet. But I tried re-submitting the sign up and I kept clicking on next when it said my serial is already submitted. But it brought me to another page wanting me to upload more proof. Any ideas? I submitted my bill to them and hit next it gave me a new apple claim number.
