Rmbp buyers who waited for delivery, are you completing the form using the order or ship date for the purchase date on the form?

I used the ship date as that's when my cc was charged, and I still haven't received any code at all. Tried to resubmit with the order date (3 weeks before ship date) and of course I got the error that my SN had already been used.

I used the actual order date. I am not normally one to throw my hands up in a hysterical fit, but this is beyond ridiculous. It's 22 hours now I entered all of my info.

Just called apple support... usual bs about a server issue and it will come in 72 hours... been waiting now 22 hours... getting impatient... Mostly want it to see what it does to my rMBP and see if it makes a huge difference...

After spending so much on a laptop not going to give apple the pleasure of any more of my hard earned cash...

wwwwweeeeeaaaaaakkkkkkk apple...

If your going charge so much for your pc's then at least have the back end to support it... you have literally got more cash that the US government... and the best you can do is theres a server error... sorry...

Phoned apple support and the guy checked my serial number and told me my request was approved but could still take 72 hours to be sent out. I had submitted a second request last night (the type which asked for proof of purchase) and he could see that one was still pending.

So theres no need for me to send anymore requests, but its more annoying that my first one is approved but there's such a delay sending the code.

its not just that that is annoying its the fact that "apple care", cough, having seen computer says yes still won't give you the sodding code...

i submitted once ~7 pm last night which brought me to the confirmation code page right after i submitted my serial number. Then i went back at like 12 and tried to submit it again, and this time, after the serial number page, it asked for screenshots/proof of the purchase.

:S

Adrift in a sea of possibilities
Well, it's been over 24 hours now for me, no working codes yet. I've gotten two e-mails that happily proclaim the arrival of Mountain Lion, and how great it is, but no secret password to get into the club Apple promised me I'd be a part of when I bought this computer 3 weeks ago . . .

over 26 hours for me...

With my Android phone it automatically offered me an OS upgrade but it took 3 months for it to actually update my phone...

I buy an Apple MBA and it asks me to fill in a form (with all the information that Apple has already asked me for whilst setting up...) hopefully it won't take 3 months to download!

I've been waiting 20 hours. I'll give them four more hours -24 hours- and if it's not in, I'm calling.

What number, exactly, if you don't mind. I tried calling Apple once. Once. I got the number from the Apple website, called it, and got an automated message saying that if I had any questions I should go on their website, then got automatically disconnected. What the deuce?

I don't really think it is all checked manually. I think it is automatic, unless you a requested to submit a receipt, then someone will have to look at this and decide if they are eligible. They may also be manually sending the redemption codes, if they had a problem with their system sending duplicate codes, they are probably manually putting it into the system and checking it before sending.

I had to ways they could have handled this better, both were already mentioned. Open it early as a test run for those eligible for free upgrade and for those buying a mac that day, then a few days later open it for everyone that has to pay for it, but I guess that is hard to limit people. The other solution was when a system was sold, they put the serial number in the database as a valid redemption code to download Mountain Lion.

I also agree that those who purchased a new mac should not be the last to be able to upgrade. We spent more then $20, in my case it was over $2500 and anyone else can just pay $20 to get it before me.

Just purchase it and then file a claim and submit your Code to them once you get it... they will refund your purchase.

No. I bought my rMBP on the Apple Online Store and it is associated with my Apple ID. I am still waiting for my code. Conclusion -> it's all checked manually.
