Botched Up-to-Date

Received the Mountain Lion content code via email after request. App Store identified it as an invalid code. I tried Express Lane for support and got the run around to try Express Lane for iTunes. Then invested four or five minutes trying to get an phone number support for Express Lane for iTunes, but gave up and called Apple Care. The Apple Care support rep told me to wait an additional 72 hours and try again. It's too bad that Apple goofed this up. On the flip side, my frustrations with the Up-to-Date program led me to MacRumors and to register with this site!

36 hours and nothing. Does anyone asked for Apple support about refund?
Some hours ago I found stupid paying for something you will get for free, but this is taking longer than anyone could guess...

I just got that email. I wish someone recorded my face. I'm in gmail, and on the left I see Apple, and a huge smile forms. Slowly I move over to the right and I see the subject: "Get OS X Mountain Lion." I just kind of sat in sadness and anger for a few minutes before I got back to work.

Yep did the EXACT same thing. 36 hours in and get an alert that is mail from Apple.....finally! Open my mail to see "Get OS X Mountain Lion"...hoping it was a mistake I read it twice to make sure they didn't hide it somewhere in there. Nope. Long story short, dog got kicked........twice.

Did you submit a claim once or multiple times?

Twice. Once without a receipt, the other with a receipt.

I only received an e-mail for my first claim (yesterday at 8:30AM) - this one did not have a receipt submitted.

Doesn't look like there is any rhyme or reason to this process.

Got my code after almost 2 days, tried to redeem it, and the App Store gave me an invalid code error. Checked, double-checked, and triple checked I was entering the right code into the right place.

Not too pleased with this update system right about now.

If it's invalid, you might have a chance. Most of us got the "used code message". In the 2 instances below, you only need to copy and paste. Don't need to manually enter anything.

Verify that you input the password to the red PDF attached (open it in preview).
The PDF should turn white with your redemption code.
Just copy and paste it in AppStore to redeem.

34 hours and counting. I just went and bought it yesterday to update both my Mac. I was going to be upset that I spent the money on it if I received the code soon after, but now I don't even care anymore. I am not a very patient person.

I noticed a big increase in performance from the rMBP using Mountain Lion. :)

yeah me to i couldn't be bothered to wait anymore so just paid for the damn thing. i got the lion release email today when ppl in the us were getting them yesterday so it wasn't looking good. still haven't received the code.

This issue has nothing to do with Tim Cook. He's only following the system, policies, and procedures authored by Steve Jobs.

They can't possibly ship these codes out faster than they are without increased cost to Apple. Also being the clever smart marketeers they are, it's no secret to them that some people will cave in & pay twice. It's win that way, you're only paying $40, you get it when you want it, and I win as the extra revenue to Apple pumps up my stock.

It's the Apple way, that's served me well since 1991. I'm very content with the way it is. No need for change. Apples just brilliant :)

39 hours now, nothing; so i contact support and what do i get? an email saying i should get my code upto 48 hours from now...that's 87 total hours....complete BS!!

they just better have my code sooner rather than later

I hope this is just me...

Well, I was just tired of people here telling us that they got their redemption code just 5 hours after they registered. What did I do wrong? Well, I just started all the way, and this time I used the serial number that appears in the "about this mac" option, in stead of the code that I used yesterday (the one in the imac's box). This time I didn't have to upload any prove of purchase.

Will It work? I don't know yet, however, unlike a lot of people in this thread, I will let you guys know when I receive the e-mail.

The serial codes should be the same...

I own a rMBP and I got mine yesterday in the morning, it took like 1 hour. The code was valid. Maybe it depends on the model.

Just try to be patient. If you really cannot wait, then purchase it and get a refund once you get your code or obtain the GM through other means. Uptodate program cannot be instant, it may take up to 3 days and in some cases you may not get it all due to a glitch. In the end, apple will give you a free copy of ML just not at your timeframe.

37 hours and counting. Definitely getting frustrated.

My rMBP experience has been filled with lots of waiting. When they announced it at WWDC it was "available now" but I got mine 2 weeks later and now this free mountain lion update. geeze AAPL get your stuff together. :(

36 hours and counting on this end...although a while ago I got the email from Apple advertising Mountain Lion...
