Just to get kind of a head count, who the "oldest" submitter on the forums to still not get anything back (and also please say if you've called Apple and if they have said your claim was approved).

I'm at 37.5 hours now, Apple says my claim was approved, and yet nothing.

Submitted at 9AM on release day so about to hit 41 hours and no email from apple; although I called and they said I was approved although I am starting to suspect that I was lied to as I asked the phone rep to read my email to meafter I verified my name and other personal info but she made me give it to her and then said that it was correct.........

How difficult can this be?

I can only suspect they are doing thins to throttle the load on their servers

waiting..

I submitted my claim for my rMBP (purchased from the online Apple Store) at 7:30am on 7/25. So far I have not received anything from Apple, other than the announcement that ML was now available.

I got a confirmation number, but there is no way to check that number online at all. Does seem kinda weird.

48 hours and counting.... i've emailed itunes support

I understand that you would like to know the claim status for your copy of Mountain Lion Up to Date program. I understand how eager you must be to have this issue sorted out; I will be happy to resolve this concern today.

I checked with the reference number "XXX-XXX-XXX-XXX". Claim is being processed. I see that it's been approved but you need to wait 72 hours to receive the claim response after submitting your claim online. You should receive results or status updates via email within the time remaining for claim processing.

don't understand if its 72 hours after submission or 48 + 72
edit: its 72 hours after submission.
either way, i'm not in a hurry to install mountain lion hopefully the code will come thru

38 Hours.. Apple seems to be going down hill in so many ways these days...

Apple, stop paying lawyers to fight patents for the obvious, and sort the inhouse problems out!! You have forgotten customers, customer experience, a great UI is nothing if overall customer experience is getting worse..

what was the gift card fiasco?

I never received my education gift card when i ordered my MBA. I called them and they said I should receive it by July 6th and they have a list to send out. Called them around July 9th and they send theyve already sent it but they'll send it again and i'll receive it within 24 hours. Pretty much the same thing happened the next to phone calls and nothing. The only reason I got it is because Apple emailed me for a CS survey and I gave them a horrible one. 2 days later they sent an apology and a gift card code. Took about a month after i got the laptop to get the gift card

sorry to be inpatient but please run me through why when i submit a claim on a computer it can't compare the email address I ask the serial. (which it has because when I rang it was approved) and then simply send me an email address.

Secondly when they announced the rMBP they announced the up to date package which means that it is a legal term of sale. (as its part of a package to stop people holding off buying a new laptop and ruining their quarter sales figures)

Therefore as there website says it will be delivered in 24 hours it is not their right to say I'll deliver it when they are happy.

----------

I don't understand surely it would have been really easy for the computer to say if the chip on the computer is Ivy-bridge then just add it to purchases.

As you know the loophole is that it states "Upon receipt of your completed order form and proof of purchase, a content code for OS X Mountain Lion, redeemable on the Mac App Store, will be emailed within 24 hours of order qualification."

This upon receipt could be processed in 1 day or 3 days. As to how the system works; I don't work for Apple but all I am saying is instead of getting stressed or worked up just wait it out or do the other alternatives.

It's all pert of the same problem, I'd email them again, or even give them a call, but they are super busy..They messed up big time with the UTD this time, and I don't know why, it was smooth as silk with Lion.

I can't understand how they screwed this up....This time they allocated plenty of server capacity for the download...Which in Lion they didn't, but when I redeemed my up to date code from SL to Lion it went without a hitch...Somebody is going to be wearing their backside in a sling over this one...They have wrongly sent server codes to home users as well...This may take weeks to fix.

So an update from me:

1. Got the code on Monday (This is now 96hrs later)
2. Code received within minutes and proceeded to wait for launch
3. Launch came and bang on the launch minute I input my code to be told it isn't valid so I emailed uptodatesupport@apple.com or whatever that address is.
4. Within 1 hr I got a reply with the usual instructions on how to input a redeem code!!! I replied said the issue is with their code not me!
5. 26hrs past with no response so I emailed them again asking for a new code ASAP.
6. Woke up this morning with a reply from them which I would only describe as rude! It was the same email as before yet this time they highlighted in yellow the following:

If you have additional questions regarding the redemption or installation of your software from the Mac App Store, go to the Mac App Store Support link which is found in the Quick Links section.

Please note that we can only assist with inquires for the OS X Mountain Lion Up-to-Date program. For all other questions please consult http://www.apple.com/.

Thank You For Choosing Apple

So it appears the muppets on the end of this email address don't deal with the codes - they are washing their hands of it! Though I am about to point out the following from their original email:

If you did not receive an email from the OS X Mountain Lion Up-To-Date program with your content code, please check your spam filter settings for attachment restrictions and contact us at uptodatesupport@apple.com to have this email and your content code re-sent.

Anyway in the meantime I bought it and had the Mac App Store support staff refund me, they also left the ticket open so I can contact them in 72hrs if I still don't have my code. I can;t believe how poor this process has been its a disgrace.

Submitted mine right away after ML was released.
Tried to do it again after not receiving any confirmation and it said I already had submitted this serial number... but still have received absolutely nothing.

Kind of stupid that I could go buy it but I have to wait for the promised upgrade. Still, I already installed it the GM when I bought my new computer anyway so I could care less, ha.
