Going on 33 hours here. I am not going to stay up waiting, though. I will check again in the morning and start the download and go to work if the code comes in. If I happen to get it during the day, I will remote into my computer to start the download. If I don't get it tomorrow...well, I will not be very happy. :)

I submitted my claim late yesterday morning and never even received an email confirmation. Nothing. Just a confirmation code from the next page that doesn't do anything. I'm just about ready to say screw it and go torrent the thing. Who is with me?

They didn't send out confirmations.

I am getting close to doing that as well

I would just be happy if I paid for it now and they gave me a credit for a $20 purchase later.

I would be too. Just not sure that method is 100%

Over 2 days for me also. I got tired of waiting and so I pirated it. That's right, downloaded from a site that I hadn't used in a long time and I feel righteous.

Waiting like everyone else for code...

Are you worried about the bootlegged copy giving you problems? I'm not afraid of doing this but something about an OS and bootlegging makes me jittery...

If it was a Russian or Chinese site yes, I'd be worried but it's not and the file was uploaded the day of the release. It's been downloaded several hundred times since then and no issues whatsoever.

I said screw it, downloaded the GM from a torrent site.
Apple owes me a copy, so I don't feel bad about it.
And since GM is 100% identical , Im happy.

I'll activate my code in the app store whenever they finally get around to sending it.

Meanwhile I have ML.

I own a rMBP and I got mine yesterday in the morning, it took like 1 hour. The code was valid. Maybe it depends on the model.

Nope, I also have a rMBP and still no code after 30+ hours. I mean, you would think the rmbp would be immediate. They didn't even exist before June 11th lol

^ yeah but there would be people who would get s/n from apple stores and stuff, or try and get a code from someone else's machine and what not... if they automatically let any s/n for rMBP through, there would be instances where it shouldn't have been given.

The Lion upgrade program was a million times better than this. I could download Lion immediately after a day (others within 5 minutes after release). I am already waiting for like more than 2 days now. No feedback no nothing

Going on 40 hours here and still nothing. Submitted the first time right when it went online and wasn't asked for any proof of purchase. Resubmitted today hoping that submitting proof would maybe speed it up. Received the message of serial already used by bypassed it. Still nothing. Called Apple and they said my first was approved and they'd resend it...still nothing.

In my opinion, this is crappy Apple service. They should have completed this process the week prior if they were going to do the manual method. However, I still don't get how it's not automated. Obviously their system does tracked serial numbers so any mid-2012 Mac purchased from now till August 26 should be guaranteed to get it. After August 26, then they can do the manual process to see when it was purchased.

How? Stores should know what their display models are so you go in the system and make all those exempt. Using a code from someone else's machine should happen because they should only allow each code once.

There's no excuse this can't be automated. Doing it manual doesn't stop any of the things you mention possibly happening from happening. Heck, the Best Buy receipt I sent in doesn't have the S/N listed and doesn't have the correct specs on it. The only thing that hints I bought a 2012 is the model number. I could pass that receipt around to everyone yet mine has been approved for over a day but I still haven't received the email.

It doesn't even have to be that complicated. Make it so that all of the serial numbers of laptops sold are Coupon Codes in the app store that give you the download. So you have the coupon code automatically when you buy the laptop.

Just try to be patient. If you really cannot wait, then purchase it and get a refund once you get your code or obtain the GM through other means. Uptodate program cannot be instant, it may take up to 3 days and in some cases you may not get it all due to a glitch. In the end, apple will give you a free copy of ML just not at your timeframe.

sorry to be inpatient but please run me through why when i submit a claim on a computer it can't compare the email address I ask the serial. (which it has because when I rang it was approved) and then simply send me an email address.

Secondly when they announced the rMBP they announced the up to date package which means that it is a legal term of sale. (as its part of a package to stop people holding off buying a new laptop and ruining their quarter sales figures)

Therefore as there website says it will be delivered in 24 hours it is not their right to say I'll deliver it when they are happy.

----------

I don't understand surely it would have been really easy for the computer to say if the chip on the computer is Ivy-bridge then just add it to purchases.

Just to get kind of a head count, who the "oldest" submitter on the forums to still not get anything back (and also please say if you've called Apple and if they have said your claim was approved).

I'm at 37.5 hours now, Apple says my claim was approved, and yet nothing.
