So an update from me:

1. Got the code on Monday (This is now 96hrs later)
2. Code received within minutes and proceeded to wait for launch
3. Launch came and bang on the launch minute I input my code to be told it isn't valid so I emailed uptodatesupport@apple.com or whatever that address is.
4. Within 1 hr I got a reply with the usual instructions on how to input a redeem code!!! I replied said the issue is with their code not me!
5. 26hrs past with no response so I emailed them again asking for a new code ASAP.
6. Woke up this morning with a reply from them which I would only describe as rude! It was the same email as before yet this time they highlighted in yellow the following:

So it appears the muppets on the end of this email address don't deal with the codes - they are washing their hands of it! Though I am about to point out the following from their original email:

Anyway in the meantime I bought it and had the Mac App Store support staff refund me, they also left the ticket open so I can contact them in 72hrs if I still don't have my code. I can;t believe how poor this process has been its a disgrace.

thanks for that email address! just emailed them

U.K
I didnt even get a confirmation email telling me that they got my submission

is this normal?

how do we know if the submission went through or not?

I never got an email but called and they said that it was "processing" whatever that means. To me it means holding back a code from me!

maybe the can give me ANY insight as to whats going on with mine.

I just posted quite clearly that I have had the same generic response to two emails to them now and they have clearly indicated by highlighting the text that I show above that I am to contact the Mac App Store Support Team!!!!!

Oh and then they will tell you to wait 72hrs!

I have responded to my open support ticket now and given them the links to all my posts in this thread to document this farce as it continues to unravel. So guys, live happy in the knowledge that at least Apple support people are now aware this thread exists!

How long for upgrade code

I know there have been problems issuing the free upgrade codes for ML for macs purchased after 11th June but I did not recieve an acknowledgement or anything after requesting it Wed evening.

Is this normal, I was hoping to upgrade everything at the weekend?

Looks like my Olympic Opening Ceremony Countdown will beat the Mountain Lion countdown. 44 hours plus here, not a single mail from Apple. AppleCare rep confirmed I'm in the system and gave me the standard server load and 72 hour crap.

first time i post here but i had to share the news. I went ahead a bought ML on the app store and requested the refund through express lane just as other members here have done. took them about 8 hours to answer but it was worth it. I told them i ordered by mistake.

After reviewing the circumstances of your case, we determined that issuing you a refund for your unintentional purchase of "OS X Mountain Lion" is an appropriate exception to the Terms and Conditions, which state that all sales are final. You will see 19.99 USD added to your store credit balance within 48 hours. You may need to sign out of the iTunes Store and then sign back in before you see the credit in your account.

I hope this helps

Many people including myself have done the same - its posted many times throughout this thread. I didn't even tell them I did it by mistake. I told them up front I did it deliberately because their handling of the up-to-date program is a total farce. I got the same e-mail back as you but with an added apology and told to replay in 72hrs if I still have no code!

After 41 hrs... submitted second claim, which my serial number was accepted for so it doesn't look like my first claim is even checked yet...

I think apple probably have 20 goats checking the incoming mails and processing them in a totally random order....

For Dutch people, and other non-Americans, make sure that you are using the Dutch site. I used the English site at first, and submitted my claim. After weakening patience I tried it again, and noticed that it said my country was United States. Not sure if this matters, but I then did it again using the Dutch website, and it did allow me to enter my serial number again, so something was different than before. A third check did not allow me to re-enter my serial again, so now it should be processing.

Losing patience, though.

I submitted my request early Wednesday. Nothing yet - not even a confirmation of request email. I think I may have out purchase date as July 11 instead of June 11. Oops. Suppose we'll see! Kind of getting anxious.

The problem is that it doesn't accept my phone number and I can't proceed any further :(

Apple really ****ed up again - I've gotta say they've outdone themselves.

I'm assuming every serial number has a purchase date and location associated with it - otherwise they wouldn't be able to check if your mac is still covered by the free 1 year applecare or 90 day phone support.

All they ****ing have to do is to check if the serial number and provided purchase date / location match - if they do - autosend the damn code. Geez.

I submitted in the first hour of the up-to-date site opening, and still haven't heard a thing. I know my request is in because if I try to resubmit it says my serial has been used.

Arggh I'm angry. I thought the high prices you pay for Apple products involved getting rid of ******** hassle like this.
