because it was 5:30 in the morning and i wanted to watch the olympics, i didn't go into uni to download so i ran out of internet while downloading. had to buy more :( ML now costs me $50. oh well, at least i've got it downloading now

I'm downloading now, I left it earlier to download and caffeine was enable to not go to sleep but it canceled itself?

So now I'm re-downloading it, is there anyway to tell what percentage/download rate or is that little blue bar the only indication of how it's doing?

Was hoping it would be ready for me to install/use by the time I came back from the pub but nooooo :(

Dang it, 1h after i talked to apple care the two mails arrived... however haven't checked my iPhone since 18:30... and the e-mails came in at 19:20 after over 55h waiting time ... Little mad at the mail.app on iPhone
Oh well, watched a movie instead :p

Regarding your question, if you don't have a program like iStat menu/Pro you can use "Activity Monitor" and select network
Watch the graph and make sure the radio button for Data (not packets) is selected... after that well the
XY MB/s gives you an indication of how long it will take since ML is 4.05 GB

edit: oh, thought you already were at the purchased tab... anyway - always nice with information ^^

Just received my code (48 hours after applying for it). App store says it's not recognised. Bloody great.

Thanks for the help but it's probably easier using the app store, it's showing as ML being 4.34GB, about 300 MB to go, taken just under half hour! :)

How long does the actual installation process take?

Here is an email I just received from Apple----

"Welcome to iTunes Store Customer Support. My name is J----- and I am glad to help you today.

I understand that you did not receive the redemption code for the "OS X Mountain Lion" and would like to get a refund for the same. I am sure you must be eager to get this issue resolved at earliest and I will try my best to help you with this issue.

I would like to inform you that it usually takes 72 hours to receive the redemption code for the "OS X Mountain Lion". However, I have refunded for it as unintentional purchase.

In five to seven business days, a credit of 21.24 USD should be posted to the credit card that appears on the receipt for that purchase."

Three days of waiting and I got 2 PDF's and 3 password emails but none of the combinations work...awesome job Apple...thanks!

I thought it was .34 but according to the App store "ML Page" it says 4.05 GB on the right side.

Haven't upgraded yet, gonna learn how to do a fresh install with a USB instead of upgrade, feels better that way (first time mac user).
As for the times:

some news site said:
According to New York Apple retailer Tekserve, the Retina MacBook Pro took just 13 minutes, edging out the 2012 models of the MacBook Air, which posted a 17 minute upgrade time. The difference could be chalked up to the two extra cores in the 15-inch laptop’s quad-core Ivy Bridge processors compared to the MacBook Airs’ dual-core CPUs.

In contrast, Macs that are still equipped with mechanical hard drives took three to four times longer to complete their Mountain Lion upgrades. The worst of the bunch was the 15-inch MacBook Pro that uses the traditional unibody design, posting a 57 minute time. Its 13-inch brother barely made an improvement, taking 55 minutes to complete the update.

hope that helps clarify a little :)

Ok so I am going to ask a silly question but I ended up with a number of different codes:

I redeemed one on my Retina and set that download going...

I redeemed the other on my Macbook Pro 2009.... and it started downloading...does that mean I am going to have it on both or will it fail on the install on the 13" Pro?

My understanding was that the "free" copy would only work on the new machines and you have to buy it for any other macs....

You should download it and then click "cancel" on the install (then it will be in the Applications Folder) and copy it over to the other computer. The download is the same for any computers.

For those of you who had to submit a proof of purchase image, what did you submit? I just took a picture of the email from apple that said thank you for my order. It showed my name, date and order details. No code yet after 45 hours.

finally got home from work and was pleased to find my code (which i got 4 hours earlier) worked and ML is now downloading, just over half-done and is going faster than it thought it would (despite what i've been reading...slow downloads).

now all i have to hope for is no foul-ups during install

ML is pretty laggy for me.

15 MBP Mid 2012 8GB Ram 500Gb 5400rpm

Considering going back to Lion

I applied for a code on July 25th at about 9:00am and I received a (working) code on July 27th at 11:44am.

Mountain Lion took about 3 hours to download, even though I have a 100Mb connection (thank you, Apple servers...). I am now finally using ML.

Oh the irony, I have a 10Mb line and it only took 1 hour!
