Every time I see that you have posted, I’m crossing my fingers that you got the new Maps. Soon!!!

Well, if I haven't gotten it yet, I probably won't be getting it until the "official" wide release. Very disappointing, considering I live in the release area and have been dying to play with it since the first person got the preview.

The iOS 13 Golden Master is out. One week until public release. Nothing new on my end.
Well since I have the NE maps in 12.4.1, the iOS 13 won't help the fact that there's no update on my home address. Submitted multiple updates to Apple but no deal (yet).

Northeast update originally became available for select users on August 12. That's exactly one month ago today, or about four and a half weeks.

If the average of six weeks between introduction and full release remains true, then the Northeast update should be available for everyone by September 23. That would place it smack between the public releases of iOS 13, followed by iOS 13.1.

Actually, the Texas/South update took just over five weeks to reach full release. That would place the Northeast release basically at September 19.

Now I think the full Northeast release will be tied into the release of iOS 13, even though it doesn't have to be.

I'm also starting to get curious about how Look Around is going to be rolled out.

But is it everywhere for those people? Or is it just limited to major urban areas?

I was simply referring the the release pattern. My guess would be it will follow the release of the Maps updates (SoCal next, for example), but there are still many areas of the USA that don't even have 3D satellite mapping. I was hoping that would change with the new maps areas, but that is still not the case.

Just checked where I grew up in NJ. I have the new maps data, but there is still no 3D satellite maps in many areas.

Like StreetView, there is no reason to believe Look Around will not be everywhere an Apple Maps Car has driven. They may even be prioritizing that over 3D satellite views.

I predict the City and County of Los Angeles, Orange County, Riverside County, San Diego County, Santa Cruz County, and Ventura County will get it next, followed by Apache County, Gila County, La Paz County, Maricopa County, and Pinal County in Arizona. ;)

I bet the "tested" areas like the NE will roll out when ios 13 does. 13.1 is in beta and releases a couple weeks later, and adds ETA and a few things back in, and iPad OS comes out same time (presumably as 13.1).

I think we are close.

Buddy of mine in Miami just sent this...Google now giving electric scooter directions. Do we really want to encourage this type of behavior?

I've had it with Google Maps. They released a new iOS version today, so I played around with it. The dumbass navigation directions simply read off what's displayed on the screen. Instead of writing out Van Wyck Expressway, or the standard abbreviation Van Wyck Expy or Expwy, it showed "Van Wyck Expway", and the idiot computer read aloud "Van Wick Ex-pway".

It does the same thing with the abbreviation for tunnel, "tun", and actually pronounces it like "ton". Google is so stupid.

At least Apple Maps knows what to say. Except for when Apple Maps pronounces New Haven CT (Connecticut) as New Haven Court. :p

There's a road near me called Dr. Luke Garrett Drive. They all read it as Drive Luke Garrett Drive.

Out in the desert Southwest, there are some areas called "washes", and the roads that lead to them often have the word "wash" in it. I exited onto one on (new) Apple Maps on Apple CarPlay. The road was called Kingman Wash Access Road, but Apple Maps pronounced it "Kingman Washington Access Road". I guess Apple has a list of certain abbreviations that it will automatically pronounced the full word for, but unfortunately, "Dr" "Ct" and "Wash" get caught in this.

Here in Georgia, the highways are listed as GA-400. Maps says Gay 400. ha. i reported it but i don't know if they fixed it yet.

Don’t have the Northeast yet, but Apple is on FIRE today answering feedback I’ve sent in! I’ve been getting notifications all day and seeing updates for my area. (They were reports to add updated hours, acceptance of Apple Pay, entrances, etc). I’ve been getting responses all day today and seeing all of those changes popping up! Quite impressive!

LMAO!!! I never noticed that, but I stopped using Google maps awhile ago.

Waze is my go to navi, even though it's now owned by Google.

HERE Maps is my go to navi for offline use, which I only do when driving a far distance out of state.

There doesn’t seem to be much of a pattern at all either. The responses I’ve gotten today have covered reports I made months ago, and a lot that were just within the last few weeks.

From what I’ve seen so far, all of my reports about updated business hours have been completed. It’s important for my area because so many businesses are now on fall hours, and for a few of them...those hours are very different compared to the rest of he year. We also recently had a TON of local businesses move to accept Apple Pay. Almost everywhere in town accepts it now.

Screenshots show difference.

Actually, neither of you have the new maps.

In major cities like New York and Boston, the navigation mode always hid additional details that are similar to what can be found in the updated maps. But this hidden detail has been present for at least the past year and a half or so.

In the second post, the extra green in the navigation mode is randomly applied, and has also always been present only in the navigation mode.

Trust me: when you have the new maps you’ll know it. The difference is startling. They’ve been messing around with the land-type layer (open space vs forested/trees) for a few months now and yes, it is more pronounced when in Navigation mode. But when you get the new Maps, the geographical features, such as rivers and other watercourses, are drawn in hyper-realistic fashion. When you see it, you’ll realize that what you are seeing now, even in the pseudo-updated layer, is much lower resolution. It’s cartographic nirvana!
