On iOS 13, your home and work address can only be edited through your personal contact card in your Contacts page.
even by editing my contacts card it will still not update in maps. sorry i should have clarified. i’ve removed the work address and re-added it and it will still not work.

Just an FYI, to properly edit/add an entrance or entrances to a business:

Search or select business in Maps

Select “directions” to create a route to the business.

Select “report an issue”

Just selecting the business and the. “Report an issue” will only allow you to report things like the physical location of the business, hours, etc.

You need to start route guidance to edit entrances and a few other things.

That is extremely counterintuitive.

Actually, it makes sense due to the fact that there are different corrections one would want to make from a routing perspective versus a POI or pure “Maps” correction.

I never knew until I went through this that you could suggest better routes or note other routing issues. This may end up being MORE important than POI’s because it will help fix critical navigation issues or better note closed roads and such.

But I get it..:how would anyone know it’s different? That’s why I said something.

I tried that (from the navigation side), and it's still not giving me the option of correcting or adding driveways or entrances. It's weird. I only got that option when correcting my own home's pin. lol

Apple Maps is still acting funky for me. Very funky. When I open the app, it's back to defaulting to a 2D view, and it's turning off traffic info again on its own. In the car, when opening Apple CarPlay, Maps shows my car arrow facing a strange direction, but ONLY when I open Maps fully. If I look at the split-screen view, my arrow is facing the right way. It's bizarre. Also, CarPlay is back to defaulting to the 2D view.

When I opened Maps in CarPlay this morning to come home from work, this is what I saw:

Like, really? What made you think I wanted to see the entire country?

I'm praying iOS 13.1 fixes all of this. I want the Northeast update, and I want Maps on CarPlay to behave more like its 12.1.4 self. The ETA bar on the bottom is too big. When I drive on a road with a really long name, half the name gets hidden behind the ETA bar!

The counterintuitive part is knowing that you can correct entrances and the like only in navigation mode. Most people only use nav mode if they’re navigating, not static. If I’m driving, I’m not fixing things. If I’m static and I don’t see those options, I’m going to conclude they don’t exist.

Totally get it...this is why they need a web version. I’d be correcting stuff all day long.

I honestly really don't like the new dark mode colors for Apple Maps. The only thing about it that I do like, is that traffic information really pops out sharply compared to the darkness of everything else. It's just so...dark. And the colors give off this shimmering effect on the streets barely being rendered in the distance while I'm navigating. And the 3D buildings don't really stand out very well at night.

It's funny, on iOS 12.4.1, I liked the night mode a hell of a lot more than the day mode. Now it's the opposite. lol

So many people seem to feel this way...I guess I just don’t drive enough at night to care.

I really feel like there's a lot going on behind the scenes at the moment. Once again, I opened Maps on my phone, and it decided to show me the entire country. While navigating to work using Maps on CarPlay, the detailed greenery on Randalls Island was popping in and out. In addition, I'm getting this weird "static" effect on the next direction box. Road bubbles also are randomly not showing up intermittently.

I'm not going to log any complaints with Apple until later next week. I want to see if the update to iOS 13.1 or the update to the new Northeast maps fixes any of these issues.

I like the new iOS 13 CarPlay feature where Siri just takes up a little piece of the bottom, without taking you away from the screen you are on. But if I have Siri read a text message to me, it still needlessly takes me away from the screen I was on! Wish there was a way to stop this.

I’ve been really fortunate to not have ANY CarPlay issues in ANY beta in ANY of my cars (that’s a lot of “anys”), but 13.1 did apparently fix it for a lot of people including bringing back ETA and making it work on nearly every car out there.

I think you’re right though...new NE maps is probably coming with 13.1 tomorrow...or maybe I’m just so exhausted waiting for it to come back, I’m just wishing it to happen...

Got in the car last night and the phone got plugged in. And the new Maps were back!!

Until I realized it was my wife’s phone. (she got new maps about the time I lost them).

But it made me appreciate all the more how much better the new maps are. @G1Ravage: some of your issues are from being between 2 worlds: the new Maps app is really designed for the new Maps layers. Many of the things you’ve expressed concern about will be resolved, I think, when the new layers hit.

I find it very hard to use Maps in dark mode - I use more to find things or look up a location than direct navigation and is seems as if details are just missing or impossible to see. I wish with dark mode you had to ability to turn it off for a specific application - on by default but ability to turn off

Agreed. They actually have that option for the app on the Mac. I switched “dark” off on that one

Yeah, they probably redesigned the "night" mode in Apple Maps to sort of reflect their new dark mode with iOS 13. But went too far. lol

I also kinda don't like how large the road bubbles are. Wish there was an option to make that smaller. So much is taking up real estate space now on the screen, that the map is less visible now. lol

I was thinking...the new thing with the new CarPlay is how it can be resized to fit almost any size car screen, right? Is that dependent car manufacturer's design? It kinda looks to me like the map *wants* to be shown on a much wider screen than what my car has.

It’s a 50/50 split no matter what the screen size is. So, technically, the map is bigger on wider screens, but so is the right info boxes in dashboard mode.

Oh, I never use the dashboard mode. I don't listen to music off of my phone, so the music quadrant is useless to me. I only navigate in full screen Maps mode. It just feels like there's not enough screen for the map. The next direction box is bigger, the ETA bar is bigger, and the road label bubbles are bigger.

If I ever get into a car again that has a super-duper widescreen (like the BMW X5 I rented in Vegas a few months ago), I'd like to see how everything looks on that widest screen.

Having used it for a couple of months, I rarely use the dashboard view. But I do think I would if I was commuting so I could see the map while having the ability to change songs at the same time.

I have found myself using the full map almost always.

And I use the dashboard constantly. I listen to podcasts to and and from Boston each week, so the controls being present are handy. Plus I can see my next appointment easily. That’s the beauty of this: a style for every taste!

It’s actually not dark at all. It’s more gray than anything. The previous night mode look better to me too. It didn’t have the kind of distracting translucent bar on the bottom.
