Hmmm...never saw this before. Part of the new flight info integration I’m guessing. As my flight listed right on the map. Clicking on it brings up directions to the airport. Noiiiiiice!

iPhone 11 Pro Max activated.

Still don't have the Northeast update. LOL

On the plus side, Maps is now remembering (on my phone at least) to keep it in 3D mode, and it's keeping traffic turned on. So that's an improvement.

I actually had the updated Northeast/Massachusetts maps back in August when they were rolled out, but now that I updated my XS to iOS 13, they've reverted back to the older, less detailed version in the Northeast. I mainly only see the California, Texas, and smaller areas, but not the larger Northeast update. Not sure why the update didn't carry over.

It hasn’t had wide release yet. You were one of the lucky few to have it at all for a time. Hoping for wide release of that area this week.

Thanks, good to know. I assumed based on the wider release dates in the Wiki post that it had seen a wider release already.

Dawson, GA
So, earlier this year, a Dairy Queen Chill and Grill was built and opened in Dawson, GA. They opened in June, and I submitted a report the weekend prior to opening.

However, and this is weird, but the listing keeps switching back and forth (for me) from being located in Dawson to being shown in Albany, GA on Dawson Road, where another Dairy Queen is located.

However, even when it's in the right city, it's at the wrong location, still. They moved it, but they moved it to the wrong location (a block or two, which is closer than the block farther away that it was). They also ignored my note that the business accepts Apple Pay. Strangely, there's an option to toggle Accepts Apple Pay off if the business is listed as accepting it, but no ability to toggle it on for accepting Apple Pay.

I think the issue with it moving back and forth between two cities might have to do with a bug I'm experiencing on iOS 13 and iOS 13.1, and that's that I'm seeing a bunch of old places that used to be in my Favorites still show up in Maps like they're in my Favorite places, but they're no longer in my Favorites.

I'm on the iOS 13.1 PB, and I cannot say when this was fixed, but these places that had previously been in my Favorites list, but were still showing up on the map as favorites were added to a separate "Collections" group called "My Places". I was then able to go and remove them from "My Places", and they're (correctly) no longer showing up anymore.

I do not know if this solves the DQ issue yet as it doesn't show it in the wrong city all the time, but I'm hopeful, and it's nice not having locations I have no interest in anymore show up as red markers on the map.

Is anyone else seeing the Work icon (briefcase) in your Favorites list, but a plain gray circular icon for your workplace when zoomed in on the map?

Maps is back to defaulting again to 2D, and is shutting off traffic on its own. And randomly showing me the whole country when I open it. So no improvements thus far.

Looking forward to the release of iOS 13.1 tomorrow. Please be my savior.

Uses my maps to get me to a DQ tonight. No issues!

I wonder if this will really improve my city walking directions?

Although, I typically get my bearings and don’t hold my phone outs one don’t look like a tourist. Maybe I’ll try tomorrow though to see if accuracy is indeed improved.

It’s actually not dark at all. It’s more gray than anything. The previous night mode look better to me too. It didn’t have the kind of distracting translucent bar on the bottom.

using a grey background for nighttime apps is

THE STUPIDIST THING EVER

I've seen this insanity before

It must happen at a committee meeting, at a power point presentation, with the final decisionmaker being a morning person (which is why they're running the show, probably actually an idiot) -- and who qctually never uses the app at night, because they've never been awake after sunset their entire lives.

Morning people ruin everything, yet they run the world.

Not everything is bad so far. On the phone itself, the maps look great. Sometimes while driving on CarPlay, things (at least during the day) look just as good, if not better than it did on iOS 12. Camera movements are smoother overall.

Buuuuttttttt...then there are times when the view on CarPlay is just tearing roads apart, or the roads appear blocky, especially in curves.

Where can I report a bug in Apple Maps? My office address shows the correct location on the map but the directions in Maps sends me South when the location is North when I get off the highway. Pretty strange that the directions send you elsewhere when the map has the correct location.

It also only seems to happen when I select my work address from the Car Play panel. Directions are correct when I try directly on the phone.

Not sure why the phone and CarPlay would be different...CarPlaybis just a visual representation of the phone data.

When you get the wrong route, there is a “report an issue” selection at the very bottom that will bring you to a page for route corrections or issues. Just swipe up on the route options area at the bottom and you will see it there.

At any point, when you first saved your office address, was the marker placed incorrectly, and did you "move" the marker to where you wanted it to be?

EDIT: Nevermind. Found it under “Walking”. Is this new?

Just my opinion, but if they want to have the entire US rolled out by the end of this year...they might have to pick up the pace a little bit. There's a lot of area left to roll out and it doesn't seem like the current pace is on track for an "end of 2019" complete rollout...unless they roll out some huge major chunk (more than just a region at a time)...

This next (national) rollout (Northeast) will be a large pick up of the pace.

True. I had a quick glimpse of that release on my Mac before it disappeared, and it was a pretty sizable chunk. But also think of how long it's been since that first happened. True that it's only been a little over a month (which isn't all that long), but there's only three left in 2019. Even with the Northeast, there is still a lot to get out in three months.

Yes...and maybe only available on later phones as an option??

Directions worked fine, but Philly isn't exactly as "dense" as NYC...at least where I was walking, so I don't consider it a real test. And I'm just not sure how upright the phone needs to be positioned for it to determine your location based on the surroundings.

I'd love a video from Apple or some tech site explaining how this works with real world examples. I think it is supposed to be able to determine which side of the street you are on, how far you are from an intersection....things like that which can be determined by the camera and AR along with the Maps data.

They could potentially knock out the Southeast, then hit the Pacific Northwest, and finish up the middle of the country in December... or hit the Southeast and Pacific Northwest at the same time, then finish up the rest in December.

Not really...when you look at population density (buildings, roads, etc. that come along with it), they'll have a HUGE chunk of the US done. Let's be honest, while not completely rolled out, NE is done and available to some and worked fine when I had it. PNW is basically just Seattle and Portland...Midwest is Chicago and St. Louis...SE is Atlanta and much smaller cities (in general) like Nashville, Memphis, etc.

A LOT of empty land in the rest of the country with few buildings and roads to worry about. The roads are also a lot less complicated with most of the middle 2/3 of the country on the grid system since the cities were developed heavily much later than the horse trails you'll find in the NE. :p

So, what do you do? Just hold the phone up while using Maps in Walking nav mode? Any visual indicator that its doing something?

This actually makes a lot of sense. Hopefully we see NE today or tomorrow latest. Then on to the rest!
