Just sent Apple five or six different "reports" about "general app issues", and the various little glitches I've been seeing, along with screenshots. Hoping it gets to someone who can look at them.

But they're probably busy with whatever gremlin is preventing them from releasing the Northeast update to the masses. Saw more reports on Reddit today of various people losing the new maps, and one or two gaining them. And here I am, Mr. New York Chopped Liver.

Anyway, here's a random screenshot from a drive this evening. Still think it's weird how the highway looks in the distance.

I'm going to guess 10/1 as a general release date for the Northeast. Or they could fool us by releasing the rest of the 48 states at some point in coming weeks. Maybe the Northeast, with its complicated roads and population density, was selected as a guinea pig for everything else?

We're approaching seven weeks at that point. This is taking much longer than usual.

I'm going to my cousin's wedding way out in the deepest regions of northwest New Jersey next weekend. I really hope we have the new maps by then.

Ooohh...the Wilds of New Jersey. Not sure if they have ever fully mapped that area.

Hello everyone!

From the Apple site I saw that Italy was also mapped. What do you know when the new maps will be available?

Furthermore, the way my parents live is wrong (there is one more "i" in his name). I've already reported it to Apple, but it's never been correct. There is the possibility that with the new maps (and with the new mapping) the error will be corrected =

Europe is supposed to follow the US. I suspect it won’t be until mid 2020 at the earliest, given the cadence of the US rollout

A few shots from last night. In the first two, I stopped the car to show off the *slight* difference in perspective. The first picture is the default view now, and the second picture shows what the view is after switching to the route overview, and then switching back.

It's very subtle, but you can see a bit more of what's to the right of you in the second photo, such as the highway exit not visible in the first photo.

In the below photo, I discovered an iOS 12 glitch that still exists intermittently. This is the "search" bar. It typically gives you a microphone icon, with a keyboard icon next to it, as seen below. But during one trip yesterday, I opened the search bar and *only* had the microphone icon. In fact, it was much wider, taking up the entire space. On iOS 12, I also used to randomly lose the keyboard button. I would normally fix it by unplugging my phone from the car and plugging it back in.

There are still those graphical glitches that only show up on the screen in person, and don't appear in screenshots. Such as the "static" in the dark-colored directional and search bar and ETA bar, as well as this odd "shadow" that borders those boxes.

Saw some changes on Apple Maps today. Added green in my area, but *not* related to vegetation or the anticipated Northeast update.

A number of school parks and playgrounds just suddenly turned green today. A park that had previously been displayed as just a tiny circle of green near its center now takes up the entire block it encompasses.

I guess these are TomTom updates. Kind of weird to be receiving these when the Northeast update is nearly upon us. I'll keep my eyes open to see if I notice any other changes.

Hmm...but maybe this isn't a TomTom update? Besides "parks" and school playgrounds, I'm also seeing some additional greenery in some pedestrian plazas/medians and sports fields, where there hadn't been any prior.

I assume that, when it comes time for the Northeast update to be released to everyone, that Apple sort of flips a switch, and the new data is suddenly available to everyone. I doubt there's a trickle-down where tiny bits of extra detail pop in here and there until it all suddenly shows. Still kinda odd that this is showing up now.

Sports fields, baseball diamonds and the like, would all show up when I had the new maps here in NJ. 3D models of buildings and things like that as well.
Those have not shown up again. Still waiting for it all to return..

I think Apple continues to tweak the “vegetation coverage” layer. Even after I lost the new Maps, this layer remained much more detailed than it was several months ago. The fact that you are seeing changes to this is hopeful.

I know it sounds stupid, but were you moving? Keyboard doesn't show/work while the car is in motion...or, I'm sure in some cars, while in anything other than "park".

That's a good question. What I often need to do, is pull out of my garage and then sit in the driveway when programming, because my signal strength is really weak inside the garage. But I usually don't put my car in park, i just sit there with the "auto hold" activated. What you say makes sense, but I think it's been happening while in park also. I'll pay closer attention and let you know.

Also, does the New York Post know something that we don't?

Major sites are reporting that the Northeast update is rolling out today. I checked, and I have nothing on my end yet.

No update on either phone for me (XS Max/IP7).

But I wasn't dissapointed in that thread..."So...not hitting my country until 2067" comment. I look forward to those now.

Personally, I think people saw some added green, and assumed it was the Northeast update going wide. When really it was just a TomTom update.

That doesn't mean I don't believe the Northeast update won't come out this week. But so far, I haven't seen any signs that anyone has actually received the update today.
Well if The Verge article is true and I get the new NE maps, my home address was dropped previously in the updates. We will see.
