Okay, this is interesting....I’ve got new road name data, but it’s not showing.
I think the Northeast update has been loaded, and Apple Maps is already drawing info from it. But it’s not actually showing yet, besides the traffic light data. Check this:
See how the route line doesn’t quite match up with the road as it’s drawn? TomTom’s data had always misdrawn the exact location of that u-turn lane. Apple Maps is now routing using the new map layer, but not showing it yet!
Maps is also announcing new road names, like using “Frontage Road”.
Unfortunately, I encountered two negatives. One, Maps is now mispronouncing the Van Wyck Expressway. Second, while exiting onto 69th Road (Sixty-ninth Road), Maps pronounced it “Sixty-nine Road”.
Neither negative nor positive, Maps has dropped the “and” from three digit numbered roads.
“One hundred fifty-first Street” instead of the old “One hundred and fifty-first Street”.
