Yeah, this is getting kind of ridiculous. There's no good reason that seemingly the vast majority of people are already tracking and we're still on processing. To make things worse, I don't think I've seen a single person go from processing to PTS today.

Can someone remind me when I should change to pickup at my local UPS hub? I do this every year rather than sit around the house all day waiting, but forgot when it's safe to do so.

Same - I have never once gotten Track by Reference to work in all the years we've done this. It always just pops in on its own.

its likely because apple store usually will receive a ton on Thursday before launch Friday.
I know this as the store manager at the apple store near me is my friend and has told me in the past that is usually the case for in store pick up.
I can find my phone using a reference number but how are you seeing the action on the phone? I only get a partial tracking number
You can track by reference number - by trying your order number, minus the last 2 digits in the number.
I just imagine a herd of people pushing huge pallets of phones around and scanning them around every corner. That's always what those first few arrival/departure scans make me think of. Once they scan them in, they have to keep a close eye!
Why cover the beautiful titanium and technology? I've been caseless for over a decade. No Apple Care either. Never an issue (even with some drops on various surfaces). Sure, maybe I've been lucky, but I say, just go naked!

If it’s already damaged too much, I smash it fully, do an AC+ swap, then trade in/sell a mint condition phone
