Same here for Germany. Shipment info received April 23rd in DHL center in Netherlands, estimated delivery April 30th. No DHL tracking yet...
Something is moving. DHL status just changed to „Processed at Amsterdam - Netherlands“. Looks like the delivery from China arrived.

Bummer, yes, I'm seeing the same degradation. I had nothing running, the computer straight out of sleep, ran GB5 Metal and got 22k, OpenCL 14k. Then I ran the Heaven benchmark (OpenGL) and FPS was 10 (down from 48), so it isn't just a GB thing.

It seems like mine is permanently stuck in "slow mode" now, even after a fresh reboot I'm getting 22k for the Metal benchmark. I'll try with safe mode a little later.

Can confirm. On Apple tracking mine jumped from next Monday to today (which is nonsense.) But I guess it will arrive this week as it has been processed in the Netherlands.

Mine arrived today (in Germany). Hardest problem: Where to put the 2 slot covers that I had to take out to make room.

Does anyone else see an "Thunderbolt Accessory Update available. Reboot to install" message that seems to reappear after every restart (with the only Thunderbolt Device being a Pro Display XDR)?

Maven, that's the update trying to push your XDR to firmware rev. 2.2.2 it's important to install. Is it getting stuck?

Yes I was getting this, and I don't even have the Pro Display, I have an LG monitor. I downloaded and reapplied the 10.15.4 supplemental update which seems to have gotten rid of it.

My card arrive today ;-) After installing it I got the "Thunderbolt Accessory Update available. Reboot to install" message too. After re-start everything works well so far.

Can somebody with the W5700X share more insight about performance in Final Cut Pro X?

Decode, Encode, overall stability. Thanks!

Dare I ask, what are you doing on it? Mine is due tomorrow and I’m mid project so hoping it gives me some if any boost to adobe cc

Here my initial impression and benchmark results after my first hours with the Radeon Pro W5700X MPX. I'm an upgrader from a Radeon Pro 580X on an 8-core 7.1. So far I'm very happy with the W5700X.

macOS 10.15.4
  • noticeably faster in FCP than 580X (...no numbers yet)
  • unfortunately no noticeable benefit in Adobe Lightroom Classic "snappiness" vs 580X (not a surprise)
  • Geekbench 5 OpenCL: 580X: ~40.000 -> W5700X: ~64.000
  • Geekbench 5 Metal: 580X: ~42.000 -> W5700X: ~72.000 (Pro Vega II MPX: ~98.000)
  • GFXMetalBench "Aztech Ruins (High Tier)": 580X: ~25fps -> W5700X: ~55fps (Pro Vega II MPX 58fps)
  • no fan noise noticeable
Win10 Pro + AMD Bootcamp driver 19.40
  • Steam VR Performance Test: 580X: 5,2/"medium"-> W5700X: 11/"very high" (Pro Vega II MPX 11/"very high")
  • Half Life Alyx runs smooth in "high" and even "ultra" settings via Oculus Link. So far (30min+) no "black screen" crashes. Remark: a Vega II MPX I used temporary for testing crashed randomly with 19.20 and 19.40 drivers.
  • "light" fan noise noticable during gaming

Reading the threads about Geekbench Metal score degradation in macOS after repeated benchmark runs I just checked this topic as well.
Unfortunately I can confirm the finding. Metal score degraded from ~72.000 down to ~20.000..14.000. After re-boot score is back to 68..72.000. This time still at this expected level after 2 repeat runs.
Not sure what this means for practical use. But it looks like there is still a driver and/or macOS issue...

My display is on 2.2.2 and I keep getting this message after each reboot (and saying "Restart" to "update your Thunderbolt Accessories" doesn't seem to do anything special during the restart, and after boot-up the message returns until dismissed 🤷‍♂️ ).

Really hope this gets worked out soon... or that it's just some odd synthetic benchmark weirdness and not applicable to real world use.

How about something like Unigine Valley? (if you have that installed) I'm wondering if that would have the same degradation issue!

Agree. Mine is on the truck for delivery today, and I’m wondering if I should even bother to open the thing, or just send it back and wait to find out if it gets sorted out. Or should I open the box and burn time trying to see if it is affecting real world perf or not with some real measurements. The Vega II is overkill for the things I do at more than twice the price, but it would be good to have more oomph for the long haul, and the extra TB buses would be helpful. But right now stability is more important than sitting on a buggy GPU hoping Apple has a fix.

I mean, if the benchmark is accurate, it’s effectively getting crippled when it triggers this low performance state.

Good news. According below "speedtest" (see around 3:50) the performance in Unigine HeavenHD Valley stays constant during 10 runs. (...but it's an OpenGL benchmark, not Metal)

My performance seems to dip randomly in all apps; I think it's a frame buffer issue and is more than likely being worked on in the 15.5.5 release from what it seems like

I wonder what his computer configuration is in the video

This exactly. I hesitated on pulling the trigger just long enough to see that some were having issues. Now I’m in the same line of thinking.

Vega II seems overkill for me, I don’t need the level of compute power and I don’t edit 8k. DSC + more modern encoders at a cheaper price and still the ability to add a second card seems a no brainier.

But now I’m tentative about buying unless I’m confident a fix is coming since stability is more important than cost!

I cancelled my order when I started seeing info about these issues; I'll revisit, if I hear that things have been resolved.

I opened it anyways, since I wanted to get a good idea what was actually wrong here. Worst case, it goes back due to the driver issues.

There's definitely something wrong with the driver. And not in a small way. General performance I'm measuring in other tools like MetalBench is around half of what it should be. Affinity Photo actually fares worse in some cases compared to the 580X, while faster in a handful of others (where performance seems a lot closer to what I expect from something in this class). It's... not good.

But I also notice that the GPU in these compromised cases can't even seem to peg the GPU at all. GeekBench in particular never seems to exceed 50% of the GPU when I'm getting the low 20k numbers.

In for a penny, in for a pound... installing 10.15.5 Beta 3 on a second partition. :|

Awesome; well if you're going to that length let me know :) I want to keep this card & system (bought it with a new Mac Pro) but I've got a limited timeframe for the return/exchange window. I'd rather not, as it's at the right price point and the newer architecture is nice to have for video encoding/decoding and DSC running my dual XDR's but ... perhaps with this setup I should be running the 32GB Vega II anyhow? Ugh ... thousands more on this thing *face palm*. Absolutely awesome system overall though.

I can't imagine Apple would just leave the system in this state though.

Edit: running some benches after I completely erased my boot disk, and fresh installed Catalina and back to 10.15.4

W5700X

GeekBench Metal
  1. 73621
  2. 73676
  3. 72441
GeekBench OpenCL
  1. 66881
  2. 66424
  3. 65775
Seeing a slight drop, but I think that's fixed to me! Happy I decided to erase the drive completely and re-install. I think the previous update to 10.15.4 didn't install correctly perhaps, as the boot times are much improved now after re-install and no weird graphical flashes after logging in.

Perhaps it was stuck with my XDR trying to continuously install the firmware update?

Also turned off WiFi and running via the Ethernet port, and swapped the port for my Thunderbolt enclosure. No idea if those couple things made any difference, but so far so good anyhow.

Weird ... I'm quite positive we'll see a bit more performance and consistency in the next update though for this card as it just landed. Have to fight the urge to want the extra couple thousand points for graphics benches with the Vega II lol arg. This is why I didn't want to get into benching!
