I HUNGER
I still got my 2013 rMBP so I'm gonna carry that around all day tomorrow before I get mine on Tuesday (🤞). That way the new Busbook Pro won't feel so different! Only problem is that I've been using a base MBA for the past year so in terms of size I'm gonna be crying, but any frustrations with large video and picture file sizes gonna be a thing of a past! Plus all that glorious screen real estate again! It'll be like having my old 17" rise from the ashes!

I am also having 2013 rMBP and preparing for the new 16' mbp.
I wonder all these differences on the new machine,
will affect my whole operation with the mbp.

The Dave2D review and that by TomsGuide are pretty decent. Not too hyping. Basically confirms everything we expected: they go fast and break some speed records in benchmarks. In real life, they compete with high end gaming laptops. All the while, they stay cool and silent. Pretty much what I signed up for.

Now, can I charge it with my old MagSafe adaptor from 2013?

Dave2D's review showed the 16" M1 MAX compiling xcode like 27% faster than the 14" M1 Pro.

I'm curious if that's the MAX vs Pro advantage or more about the chassis cooling. Guessing it's mostly the chip.

EDIT: Missed that it was the 8-core vs the 10-core version. Also, an anandtech review has shown that the cpu cores alone seem to max about memory bandwidth around 100GB/s, so seems unlikely that the 400GB/s vs. 200GB/s memory bandwidth will matter to non-gaming performance.

I'd wait a bit longer for the non-influencer type reviews, but I agree, Dave2D's review was quite good and actually showed some numbers etc.

He's got the 8 core Pro, so I would definitely expect it to be slower.

She's a one-note bag of banal. Immediately skippable if one is searching for serious discussion.
Except halfway through her video she brings a fellow pro filmmaker and they show real world test cases with both a maxed out 16 and a base 14 editing 8K footage in real time and throwing the images over to a pro XDR. So about as serious as you can get, it just happens to be cheery.

People love to trash her, but the truth is she's more pro than 99% of the people on these forums.

My own. I do research in ray tracing.
Ah ok. Don’t think anyone here can answer that question.

Her guests should have 100% of her show then.

Then it would be 100% serious.

and I don't love to trash her, she's just like eating cookies for breakfast lunch, and dinner. too sugary for me.

if you like sugar-coated shows. Go for it. keep watching her.

Just leave the serious stuff to other Vlogers.
What’s with the gate keeping? You don’t like it, don’t watch, plenty of other YouTubers.
