Imagine the cajones on Apple if they did decide to schedule an event for the same exact time as the Pixel unveiling. 🧐
I'd love to see it! Just purely to see how that strategy works out. I don't think Apple wants to share the media spotlight with Google — but who knows? It seems more Apple-like to taunt Google by putting out an invite moments before Google has their event.

Announce Tuesday for a Monday event...that combination most people didn't think of.

I wonder if the event was originally planned for Tuesday until Google announced their Pixel event for Tuesday.

In either case, this is the most I've looked forward to an event in a long time. The new iPhone every year is always interesting, but it's rarely a "game changer". I don't see how these new MacBooks will be anything other than that.

can't see it unfortunately..

apart from WWDC (starting on Mondays) I can't recall a h/w product event not being on a Tuesday in the last few years at least! (they've launched Apple TV+ on Monday 25th March 2019, the XS on Wednesday 12th Sept 2018, clearly avoiding the 11th)

I'm still thinking 26th is the only plausible date in October. I'd really be surprised if Apple would ever do an event on the same day as competitor (but do think they could send invites out on the 19th).

so my guess

invites on the 19th
event 26th
order from 29th
BTO orders shipping 1-2 weeks after
Looks like they were right and your estimates were off - 18th it is!

I’m still betting:

Invites: October 19th
Event: October 26th
Preorder: October 29th
On sale: November 5th

Alternatively, we could also see preorders following the event with sales starting the 29th.

Either way, I really think we are at the finish line.
Eating my words but I love it!!!! The drought ends on Monday!

Now hopefully it meets (and exceeds) expectations

He just did it again.
Yup! Very interesting. Pretty sure he knew that the invites were imminent and that was his subtle hint, without directly revealing anything. The MBPs have been largely unavailable for at least a week, so it's a timely point to all of a sudden notice and mention that.

I was gonna put together a whole timeline based around invites on Thursday, or even mark up a whole October calendar with which days were likely/unlikely for invites and the event. Glad I didn't do that!! Now we can relax and wait!

Last time he acknowledged a stock shortage it was of the 8th-gen iPad on the date of the September event announcement. I don’t expect invites today but that is an interesting coincidence.
I'm putting it down as coincidence. He's just posting what people on here have been discussing for a while now.

None of these guys are shy to post rumours when they have them, but as usual, the genuine Mac leaks are few and far between. He did say Apple would release new Macs at an event "this Fall", but that's been about as good as they've got in terms of info.

If the event is on the 18th, that could mean preorders on the 22nd and availability on the 29th! So we could actually get new Macs BEFORE November! Although November 5th shipping could still be a possibility (especially seeing how the Apple Watch release was delayed).
