hey guys i just got a mssge from some guy he wants me to put in this command,,is this safe ? should i do this?

"Hello,
Could you please run this command in the terminal:
ioreg -lw0 > quadcorei5.ioreg

and send me the resulting quadcorei5.ioreg file? This file contains all the details of your hardware configuration. I'm really curious and this information could be very helpfull to me. This command is completely harmless, it will just write the configuration into this file. My email is m#######@pl"

It's very important to me. Would it be much trouble for you?

From the sounds the guy would then have your serial number as well,
I would say he can wait for his own i5 just to be safe

ioreg -lw0 > quadcorei5.ioreg

EDIT ---
As BelowTheBelt says, the data dumped includes your comps serial number so probably best not to send it. Didn't realise it was in there.

There is lots of interesting info in the output tho.

Got tracking info to syd yet mate?

Hi, well I've got the tracking number and it says shipped on the 12/11 and delivers 18/11/2009 but the TNT tracking website is still not updated. They say it can take up to 24hrs to pick up the order and start tracking... but it's on the way and delivering early next week which is GRRRRREAT!

Right so my order was shipped today around 16:00 GMT uk order, and apples estimate for delivery is 13th of Nov, and USP doesnt have one, yet ive seen a couple of uk orders on here shipped today and estimate is 20th how can mine be a week earlier?

Waiting for stock Core i5

Ordered a stock iMac core i5 on Nov 10 (yesterday) and have gotten no news of shipping yet. How do I trust people on this thread who ordered a day or two ago and have their tracking # already or status changed to "Prepared to Ship" or something similar?

I hate waiting!!

I actually flew to Shanghai from California in order to get my iMac early but was met with some resistance from Chinese authorities outside the Apple manufacturing plant...

Jeez, most of us here have been waiting for 3 weeks without a single solid piece of information and you're getting impatient after a couple of hours? Good luck... anyway the shipping seems to be scattered all around for now and fairly inconsistent so there is really no way of telling who and from where is getting which iMac early, although the US and Australia seem to be slightly favoured.

could it be possibly true that those who costumized their macs, will receive it on a much later date then those who ordered the basic??

I'm still waiting for my i7, 8gb ram, 1TB, wired numeric keyboard, magic mouse.
No - mine has 16GB RAM, 2TB, and is already on the plane. (And I didn't order 'til the 27th.)

Cool, i hope there is one heading to Adelaide aswell for me. The Kangaroos are going to have to get roof racks as im guessing the 27" imac wont fit in their pouch.. TNTs website can be slow, ive recieved stuff from them before it has been "picked up" on their site. Startrack are normally a bit more connected :)
Might be time to call DJ's again :)

mine is a i7 stock, no extras and ordered on the 22 and nothing yet :(

Same as mine, bought on 4th and still "Not Yet Shipped". However, it's important to remember that there's no "stock i7", all i7s are BTO, so I don't think it matters whether you add more $RAM$ from factory or not.

I'm afraid we're gonna have to wait till the end of the month whilst reading all the folks here getting theirs at home... well... will be looking forward for the reviews to salivate in the meantime! ;)

So my iMac has been sitting for over 12 hours at "Prepared for Shipping" with zero movement. The remote has been "Prepared for shipping" for 2 days now, and hasn't shipped. It is clear this isn't getting here by the weekend, thus the expedited shipping did me no good. Massive bummer. I had hoped these would go out on a Mon or Tue, allowing enough time for a Friday delivery (most of my hardware purchased via Apple has gone this way), so paying for the "hurry up" shipping was worth it.

I wonder how long until this thing actually goes into "shipped" state. I thought I saw most other people say it was within 12 hours.

My iMac took 24 hours to ship after prepared for shipping.

You've got to be kidding. You dropped $1,400 for the memory upgrade to 16GB?

Not quite - I bought mine on EPP, so the memory was discounted a bit, and heck, if you add up 4 4GB modules from Crucial it's still $1200, though I know you can end up getting it for $900 in some places. (Yes, it's still expensive though.) I just didn't want to fuss with taking out the memory if I have to bring it in, etc., and wanted the Apple warranty on all of it.

Me too, but given the local time of day that it ticked over (~6pm?), it's not surprising. Assuming that "prepared" really means prepared, ie. basically sitting on the dock, it ticked over pretty late yesterday. I'm guessing the first courier pickups won't be until midday local time assuming they have to make other deliveries in the morning. Having said that, they are using a variety of couriers depending on destination.

I'm still guessing around a 5 hour wait from now at least based on local time zone.

So have any Canadians seen their tracking change at all? I got shipping info last night and all I've seen is "SHANGHAI, CN 11/11/2009 12:33 ORIGIN SCAN". Is it just sitting in Shanghai? Or is it moving?

Exactly the same as me.....UPS has pretty horrible tracking so I'm hopeful that it's landed in Alaska by now.....:(

That's not very long at all. Sheesh!

It is when you really, really, really needed it to arrive by the weekend to do anything with it for another week. I'm serious when I say that it will get here Monday and sit in the box for a week as I am too busy during the week to get it setup. I had a beautiful, rainy, empty weekend THIS weekend to get it all setup, and instead of being in my house, it will be sitting, I am certain, in a Seattle Fedex facility and they won't release it to me. So I essentially wasted $33 on fast shipping due to the day they chose to send me my computer. I know, boo hoo, but still -- I hate paying for something that ends up being a waste.

So it goes.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking too. Hopefully it gets scanned when it lands. I'm still holding out hope that I could get it by Friday :)
