Waiting for 27" Quad to SHIP thread

By contrast, Fedex took 3 days to get mine to Alaska (where it now sits) and I won't see it until Monday. And I paid for the same 2-3 day shipping. Prepared for Ship on Tuesday, Shipped Weds, sat in Shanghai until TODAY when it finally arrived in Alaska. Ridiculous.

So, all shipping companies can suck. That they don't have saturday delivery is now an issue -- UPS would have attempted to deliver tomorrow. Fedex won't.

I can't be doing anything wrong: Plug in power. Press power button. Same as my 2007 iMac? I've swapped power cables and the same cable will power the old iMac.

It is taking standby power from the mains, my UPS shows some current draw like the other iMac, but the power button is completely unresponsive. No fans, no screen, not a glimmer of life.

Please tell me I'm doing something stupid, like I've missed the master on/off switch.

Have you pressed (and hold) the power on button for more than 10 seconds..?

Just to say really sorry that you've not had 'shipped' yet 'cos I ordered some hours after you. I've got no delivery code I think due to having Applecare & the remote to be merged here. Delivery date, subject to change, is the 21st. I got my 'shipped' email on Wednesday 11th.
Wonder if you can use the above to have a good moan to Apple about the illogic & unfairness of it. If we knew what the system or process was we could then make informed decisions-I mean like ordering 'extras' that would slow delivery due to 'merge' here. It would also be useful if Apple knew the system & told us what it was!!!!
 
So close

So I called my local apple store in Estero, Florida and they just got some i5 iMacs in. I have a i7 that I am waiting for to to PFS. Soo close if they had the i7 I would just go pick it up!

Ordered on 26th October - 27" i5 - bog standard - UK..........nothing! :mad:

Phoned Apple this afternoon, got though to an American guy for some reason (called from UK). Gave the scripted reply: Shortage of Video cards!? WTF!!!!! And that they were being shipped in order of when the order was placed :-/ Boll*cks!

Wow, that's great that they are starting to move the November orders. I expect yours to ship out on Monday if you got that message.

Sothis thread is kinda like support group therapy for me.

I just called apple again bc my debit card had the pending charge lifted and wasn't charged at all for my computer (the pendig was placed on nov 6th). I called to triple check amd see what was going on and the lady Dawn (who was super nice) put me on hold for a minuite and the got back to me saying that everything was ok and my computer was almost done and should ship out in a day or two... She seemed confident in her answer so we'll see. It's an i7 with 4x2gb ram wireless keyboard and magic mouse. Ordered Nov 6 when I cancelled my i5 from Oct 26.
 
Does anyone know what route UPS would take if my iMac is now in Anchorage and I live in Vancouver? I assume it goes to some other hub in the US first. My scheduled delivery date is Monday the 16th, which is 3 days away.

Double Ditto. I ordered on the 31oct - I5 with 8 gig ram to Australia.. still not yet shipped. and the same video card shortage excuse.. after the customs excuse.. might give them another call and see what today's excuse is.. good idea for an iphone app - hahaha
 
I've been reading this thread for a while now. great stuff. I registered to let you guys know:

I've ordered my i5 27" iMac on november 4th and i just got an email that my order has been shipped!!!!

From the netherlands. YEAH can't wait.
 
I ordered my i7 on November 8th, and it just shipped!! It is on a 2 day delivery, and will be here on Tuesday. I also ordered the HP wireless printer, and its already sitting on my floor waiting to be opened.. Can't wait for the blazing fast i7 next week!
 
UPS and my new iMac

My quad core was released on tuesday and I received it today. What I would like to impart on folks waiting for their shipment from UPS is that their online system is not always up to date. In fact my shipment was delivered by 11:00 and still showed released from the hamilton area. by passing the whole barie depot. The time I got it, three days, was very good. but they did not communicate it very well.

Ordered my i7 on Oct. 31 at 4:04 and it went to "Prepared for Shipment" this morning but nothing since then. I'm really hoping I fluke out and they put it in a plane over the weekend.

And I'm really hoping UPS comes through for me if that's who I have to deal with being in Canada. As others have said Apple should use just FedEx. Maybe though there's so many shipments that they have to split them up because FedEx can't handle every computer.

I really feel for you guys that haven't heard anything yet and have ordered only days after the iMac release, I'd be choked.

I also ordered my i7 on October 31 at 2:30 and I've got nothing. Mine is headed to Vancouver. My service rep told me "next week" probably. Blarg!

i ordered my i7 on the 20th got shipped on the 11th got as far as hong kong and is still sitting there its now 14th here in Australia.... you might get yours when i get mine lol
