Just wondering what Apple's credit policy is. I ordered a 27" i5 yesterday direct from the apple education store, and they charged my credit card already. My status is still showing the ubiquitous "November". Not really a concern for any particular reason, but I wondered if this might be a sign of a shipment soon?

From Calgary Canada - looked at future shop and got this. Now I will try to post a jpg file. Cheers

Doesn't look like they offer the i7 model. Future shop has no idea when they will be shipped, or at least it seems like they have no idea what is going on when I have talked to them. Here is to hoping!

Not only futureshop is sYing nv 3rd but bestbuy does too and steve (apple rep) told me he has heard about nov 3rd. Be optimistic... We're all excited about our new soon to come iMac :) Tommorrow apple will certainly change the shipping date of our orders, november is not a good shipping date anymore as we are in november!

Like it was said previously, the November 3rd is an estimate and I know that futureshop always put a date on the website and when the day comes, the date changes to "out of stock, will ship when available" even though they never had it in stock.

Still, I really wish the i7 ships this week!

I live in Hong Kong, and knowing that these things are assembled at the Foxconn factory about 45 minute drive from here (in Shenzhen) is killing me. I just hope they don't have to go to a centralized location in the US before being distributed worldwide... hell, I'd like to pop up there and pick mine up in person!

This happened to me as well but I don't think it means anything. I ordered an i7 on the 20th and Apple put a charge on my card. The next day they took it off and told me that they will instead charge my card when the computer ships out.

I think it's been mentioned in this topic already, but just to clarify... Apple charges your credit card or puts a "hold" on it when you order your stuff. They do this to make sure you have the money available. Then they take it back or remove the hold and charge you for real when it ships.

I think they'll ship direct. I have the Time Capsule already and will receive the new remote tomorrow. They both shipped direct from Shenzhen.

Just pre-ordered the i5 from Amazon. Couldn't beat $4 for overnight shipping. I debated the i7 for ages, but I don't think I'll even use the full power of the i5. Goodbye Mac Pro, hello iMac. Can't wait till it ships...

+1 definitely agree with you. I was about to pull the trigger on the i7 since it was the big daddy of all but then I took a step back n thought whether I would even need it. i5 fits perfect...its a quad core n im savin money!

i7 is only roughly 5%-10% faster on most things, a few things were >10% faster but not enough for most people to justify the costs!

i can justify the ~$300Aus cost personally, but that is just me. will have the same waiting time so why not!?

I was just about to go to bed, when I thought to myself, maybe at 12pm pst on Nov. 2, my order info will update. Lets see.... Nope, no change.

well its 7pm on the 2nd november here and it hasnt updated yet, so i doubt yours will either ;)

Nothing is going to update until Apple's web designers walk into the office this morning. By 10AM PST today, I suspect we will see an update. Likely even a couple hours before then.

They can change a date in a database without web designers :) .
