I finally received a tracking number. And its arriving tomorrow... i never would have though i could say this but... noooooo... im not at home tomorrow and nobody will be... and i don't want my mac to go back from where it came :-s...

Guess i'll miss my classes, which is annoying as its the last ones before the exams for some...

Anyways, i should get my priorities straight... get the mac

Be thankful you have one! Mine shipped a day earlier than yours and nada. Really not impressed with this to be honest - my last BTO Mac was a Mac Pro, and that shipped from Cork (Ireland) with a build time of 2 days, and was here three days later, along with tracking.

Just placed an order for an i7 with 4GB of RAM (will be upgrading later) today. The salesman told me that it should be around 2 weeks for the computer to arrive...but we'll see.

It is 10 days, not 7-10.

I ordered on 12/1 at 8pm local time. Was shipped today 12/7, that is 5 business days if you include the day it was ordered. So it is not 10 days (at least for me that is). Obviously this will differ depending on several variables.

i've ordered my i5 on the same day (1/12) and I got 17/12 as shipping.

We are probably in different circumstances. I am in the USA and this is a replacement order that was placed as priority by AC. So my experience is probably a bit out of the norm.

You are right the distance China -> US is a lot smaller then China -> Belgium ;) But I have patience !

So when a consumer has problems they get a higher priority ? That is nice to know and puts my mind to ease.

I ordered on the 3rd and it says it will ship on the 17th

If you do the math that is 11 days. So the 7-10 days is a lie.

Let's just give Apple the benefit of the doubt and see when it actually ships. Most likely it will be earlier than expected. Also I am not sure if Apple starts counting the day it is ordered or the following business day for the 7-10. Let's be patient and see when it ships.

I placed an order on Saturday and got a lead shipping date of the 21st of December and an estimated delivery date of the 31st of December - I so hope that this is updated and is speeded up. I have not read every page of this (extensive thread) but how likely, or should I say how common is it for delivery to be completed before the estimated lead times?

I normally buy stuff from the local apple store but as this was a custom config so I placed the order by phone. If location of delivery impacts the estimated time - Its being shipped to Manchester, UK.

Ordered mine on the 30th and I'm checking my status religiously, as of right now it's still "Not yet shipped" and Ships: Dec 14/Delivers: Dec 17.. but I'm hoping that changes really soon!

same here: Ordered 30th, ships 14th, delivers 17th.

I wish I could just forget that I ordered it. I need to stop checking the status every couple hours.

I received my replacment 27" i7 today... reorder placed 11/19 by Apple.

Unit appears perfect, not cracked glass, no yellow tinge and hopefully a long running Seagate 1TB HD which failed on my first unit on the 4th day.

Good luck to all who are waiting... it is a great machine and the screen is just spectacular.

Got mine today as well. After reading these forums for the past couple of weeks I was freaked out that SOMETHING was going to be wrong with it. I have been using it for the past couple of hours (in between work) and the thing is perfect. No booting issues, cracked screen, yellow screen, blemishes and is absolutely silent. Ran Geekbench on it right out of the box and got a 9511. I then added 8GB of RAM to bring it up to 12GB (I run a lot of VM's) and got a score of 9684. This thing is awesome! Hope all of you that are waiting have just as good of an experience.

Right? My credit card just got a temp authorization for the cost of the computer so I'm hoping that's a good sign! Keeping my fingers crossed.

My i7 has left Anchorage and is on its way. :) Can't tell which exact FedEx flight it is on since there are two that left within 5 min of when FedEx tracking said my package left. Both cities (Indianapolis and Memphis) could be possible as they are both a similar distance from where I live +/- 30 miles. Hoping for Memphis and looks like I am still on for a Wednesday morning drop. :D

TOday is the day for me... i'll skip classes to make sure im here when it arrives... and then try to go back to class once its here... can't say if i'll manage...

Im so excited that for once i had no problems waking up for my 8h30 class... (was actually awake at 6h30)...

Tomorrow is the day!

Well, they tried to deliver today but since it hadn't shown up on the UPS site noone was here. Tomorrow, I will be!

I'm paranoid now about cracked screens, yellow screens, dead pixels, flickering screens, noises, etc... So I figured to cope with it I would share the stress. I'm going to live tweet my unboxing process, straight through to the initial powerup and checking out how she runs (if I get that far). That way, anyone following will know within a minute or two of me knowing if it's all good or if she's a dud. Then they can tweet back to laugh and finger point, or to share in the joy, or to tell me how much of a waste of time it was to tweet.

Either way, thinking about tweeting it has lessened my anxiety somewhat. :)

Thanks, and I'll post back up here after it's all said and done as well to summarize.

I ordered an iMac i7 first thing this morning - confirmation came back it should be complete 22nd Dec and should arrive on or before 4th January.

First time I've had buyers remorse only two hours after placing the order.

I'm now thinking about cancelling and re-ordering later next year once they've got the HDD / yellow screen / cracks issues sorted out. I don't feel like waiting until 2010 to get a machine that's likely to be sub-par on arrival (especially as I have a perfectly good 3Ghz 24" iMac already and a 13" MBP).

:(

Ordered my loaded i7 on the 27th of November, a couple of days later apple updated that status to "ships on dec 11th", it has been sitting there ever since. I even paid for the express shipping charge hoping it would speed things up....waste of money.
I have called apple a couple of times to see if I could get a better estimate since I am going abroad for the holidays and I am leaving, of course, on December 11th!
Apple has been as helpful as they can but nothing has changed the shipping date, so at this point it looks like my brand new iMac will be sitting unopened until I get back in January :(:(

Should have just waited to order this in January....oh well.

This was sent to me by my reseller I ordered my I7 from:

Just a follow up update on the iMac order. Apple has identified a production issue with the graphics cards in the machines with quad core processors. This has resulted in machines with flickering screens or video problems. Many users that have received machines already are having these issues. Apple has re-worked the video card to resolve the issue, but this has created a delay on the orders. Machines with 2.66 GHZ processors should start shipping next week, those with 2.8GHZ processors should start shipping the week after.

Any machines that are currently available at stores will be the older models and will likely suffer from the flickering video issue. This would be resolved as a warranty repair on the machine.

We will keep you updated with any information regarding shipment of your order.
