I ordered an i5 the 27th as well at about 5pm central. Still days not yet shipped. I just want them to ship it right the first time.

I ordered mine at around 8:00am eastern on the 27th.
Still sitting at "prepared for shipment"...just keeping my fingers crossed I get a Fedex tracking # later on today, not sure how long it takes them to do that after the prepared for shipment status appears....I guess I will find out soon enough.

So it arrived safe and sound, outside box was a little dinged up, and one "wound" in the apple box, but the unit itself was fine. No broken glass! No flickering yet, after 3+ hours setup and data migration. No yellow tinge, no HDD noise. It is stealthy and GORGEOUS. I mean, the thing is stunning. The wait will be worth it.

You are going to LOVE it.

Well after quite an ordeal trying to get an I7 (ordered Oct 27)through a reseller and then finally cancelling that order and ordering online Nov 27, my order has shown some movement....finally.

Ordered Nov 27
shipped Dec 8
ETA Dec 10th

Hope it doesnt get stuck anywhere and I have it for the weekend.

Same as mine. Arrived today and its perfection!!! (knock on wood). What week is yours? I have a 49.

I've bought loads of Apple stuff from the online store  - when I have that number (I assume its the Apple Delivery Reference Number) its usually on an email which says the order has been shipped and gives me a date when I can expect the goods. The email has a link to the apple store - when you check the order status (under the accounts tab) it will tell you who is shipping (usually UPS) and they give the shippers code code as a link.

If you didn't buy from Apple but through a reseller then I can't help tho'

The Apple reseller or so-called the Authorized Dealer is really bad, I will never use them anymore !

I ordered i7 bu 21-Nov but just no news and no news ! Whenever I called to the shop, the guy never asked my order #, just told, iMac is not available, very suspicious

After a few more calls, the guy admire at least Jan to deliver but still no details........ then I took my deposit back and goodbye to all the reseller and Authorized Dealer !

That makes two people who ordered on Nov. 27 and had their machines shipped today, Dec. 8. Both of these cases also had an expected ship date of Dec. 11. That means it took 7 business days to ship (not including the day they ordered) and that the iMac shipped 3 business days before expected. So for those who ordered on Nov. 30th like me, 7 business days from ordering it is tomorrow (Dec. 9), but 3 business days before expected ship date is Dec. 11. So my *guess* would be that it is going to ship sometime between tomorrow and Friday. I'm really hoping for tomorrow because with 2-3 day shipping it might actually make it here by Friday. Lots of ifs and lots of guessing, but I can hope, can't I? Keeping my fingers crossed :apple:!

Don't get your hopes up. I ordered an i5 on nov 27 and it's still Not Yet Shipped. I might see some action tomorrow though.

how do you tell what week it is?

Supposedly from posts on here state by looking at serial number: W8949xxxxxx 49= week.

However we are currently in the 49th week of the year, so I'm guessing Apple's system is different than the general calendar's system of weeks?

It's probably their Fiscal Year.

I took the plunge and ordered an i7 yesterday. Ship date is Dec. 21 with delivery date of Dec. 24. Unfortunately I will be out of town starting on the 22nd so I probably won't get it until the following Monday. Looking forward to it - this will be my first mac and my first new desktop in 10 years (my laptop is also 5 years old) so this is a huge upgrade for me.

Can't wait to ge it! Hopefully it will be problem free, I fell like it is rolling the dice right now but there are no other mac's that can compete on value right now and I love the hardware/screen.

I checked my online credit card statement and saw that I had no charges for my dec 11 ship on an i5. I did find that my available balance is everything but $2020.37, which is exactly 4 more dollars than what the iMac costs. I'm not sure what the extra money is. I don't use that card for anything. But there is no balance.

I heard some 11-27 orders were shipping so I'm guessing mine will be prepared tomorrow or the next day...or the 11th.

Apple doesn't charge you until your computer/item is ready to be shipped.

Really? It seems like the production "week" is off the calendar week by ~1 week.

Oh okay then never mind. I thought I read weak 49 production for the first few shipments of the Quad 27" models. Apple's fiscal year starts about 13 weeks before the calendar year.. The first quarter of Fiscal 2009 ended Dec 26-28 (one of those days) of 2008.

Hmm I don't know perhaps they have a production year? or maybe the factory is closed for a few days/week and that is causing the 1 week delay compared to calendar year.

2 Weeks

Just checked the online store

Quads are now quoted as shipping in 2 weeks, which for Apple means at least 2 weeks but less than 3 weeks, so it could mean ~20 days in Apple's book.

Anyone know if i7 iMacs have shown up in Apple Retails stores?

My i7 ordered on 27th Nov and due for shipment on 11/11 has gone to prepared for shipment, estimated delivery is 22nd.

Sounds great - Congrats.

My worry is that even if my i7 arrives and seems fine when I unbox it that in a week or two the thing will develop HDD and/or screen problems. Not sure I want an iMac that I can't trust to contunue to work flawlessly. As a result I'm still mulling over cancelling the order.

I ordered an i7 iMac on the 27th November and it has just gone to "Prepared for Shipment". It was scheduled to ship on the 11th. Anyone any idea how long it normally takes to go from Prepared for Shipment to actually shipped?

Same here, I ordered (i7) on the 27th Nov but mine still just says "Not Shipped Yet". (shipping date 11th Dec) Hopefully my status will also change today.

i7 arrived.

Pixel-perfect, no dings, no loud HDD, no yellow screen. Perfect machine basically.

EDIT: 2TB HDD is a Hitachi model, not an infamously noisy Seagate.

My 27" i7 beast finally shipped!!

It went into "prepared for shipment" status at around 4:30pm EST yesterday (12/8), and got my "shipped" status and Fedex tracking number a little before midnight EST; estimated delivery now says 12/11 but I am hoping I get it tomorrow (10th) since Apple upgraded my shipment to priority overnight. :apple:

So for those of you that ordered on the 27th of November, it looks like these monsters are finally getting shipped. Now I am just hoping I have no issues with the machine <knocks on wood>

whoa, status on Apple's order status page just changed to "prepared for shipment"! could it be that I will actually get this beast before I leave??

Huh (in Dutch ;-) ) my calendar is telling me that we are at the moment in week 50. So far I know there is not been a time zone deference of a week between Europe and the US or in this case Japan/china. Or am I mistaken.
In that case the Apple numbering is correct.
