iMac i7 Out of Box Experience
Well, I ordered my iMac 27" i7 machine on November 1, 2009 from B&H Photo in New York City and I finally received it on December 3 2009. Whew! That was a long and painful wait but, anything good is worth waiting for right?
My machine arrived via UPS with it's three nested boxes in perfect condition. Having kept up with the news, the hype, and the forum threads, I was anxious for many reasons. Reports of cracked glass, dead pixels, not powering up, etc. caused me to have cautious optimism.
Well, out of the box and onto the table I had no cracked glass, it powered up perfectly, no dead pixels, and no other blemishes in any way! It was PERFECT in every way! It was what I had been drooling over for many weeks and so much more.
I installed Parallels Desktop 5.0 and Windows 7 Home Edition and let me tell you, this is freaking incredible! I now have a single machine which so far runs all my OSX apps and my Windows apps without a hitch! This is the greatest consumer innovation since the Dysan Ball vacuum cleaner!
Check this out. I am running Lumapix Fotofusion Extreme 4 under Windows 7. Since I am running Parallels in Crystal mode, the app looks as though it is a native Mac app without any real visual hints that it is a windows app. At the same time, I am running the OSX version of Adobe Bridge CS4 and Adobe Photoshop CS4. Now listen to this. I can drag a JPG image from Adobe Bridge right onto the Fotofusion app and BANG - THERE IT IS! Just like that! Nothing to it!
Man, who ever thought it would be this good? This thing is AMAZING!
