For those waiting on a week 50 machine, I'm happy to report that my week 50 i7, received Friday, is tip top. No flickering, no yellowing, no loud HD (came with a 2TB Hitachi, and I did not reinstall OSX), no dead pixels. I did have an issue with the keyboard and mouse being recognized immediately following a reboot but they eventually connected and it may have been a one-off occurrence. It's enormous, quiet, beautiful, and fast.

Update: My screen does in fact have the yellowing issue. It doesn't bother me, but it doesn't bother me enough to consider a return (unless it gets worse). If I hadn't taken the test, I wouldn't have realized it. Still satisfied, but YMMV.

My i7 status has been "Prepared for Shipment" all day.
How long is usual before it is then shipped? Do I receive an e-mail immediately on shipment, with the Week Number, tracking etc? Or is that info added at the original order site?
Thanks.

My week 50- i7 arrived today! No cracked or broken screen. I popped in a 4GB memory upgrade; repacked it; wrapped it; and put it under the tree! This will be a long 11 days! Every time I walk through the den I glance at the box and feel the anticipation.

I wont' to get to fire it up until Christmas so I can't comment on flickering or yellow tinge or other issues.

where did you get your memory upgrade?

Cool just learned that my iMac was the 18,035 iMac built in week 50. :)

And it is still stuck in Shanghai. When is the next Fedex flight to Anchorage? :(

Where does one find this info? Further to my post (a couple up from here) my i7 status has just been changed to "Shipped" with delivery on the 17th. But I see no reference numbers apart from the original order number and tracking number.

Appropriate to get my i7 on the 17th. Maybe a good luck sign :)

Look in your invoice and you should see the serial number for your iMac.

You should see W89??XXXXX.

W8= Shanghai, China
9=2009
??= week build.

Then to find out where your iMac stands to how many were built in the week, go here and enter your serial number.

Wow, that is dedication. I could not do that.

I'm one of those people who like to savor the moment. And this is my first iMac. So I want to set aside a chunk of time to play with my new toy. Originally I thought about opening it sooner, but I'm busy at work until the 21st. After that, things will calm down and I figured that I could go ahead and wait a few more days. Then I will have a full 3 days to get to know the new system.

I bought the 4GB memory upgrade from www.crucial.com for $100.

Strangely enough mine has flown back to Korea...?
Very strange...

You may even get it earlier than me considering your in mainland Europe - The reports of problem free week 49-50 deliveries is encouraging, lets hope the trend continues!

I Know!! To be honest was more than happy to wait for delivery but just happy to know the goods are in transit, my impatience coupled with the previous 'not yet shipped' status is not a good combination!

Mine was on the same flight.

It's not strange. UPS have a huge base at Incheon - It's their main freight hub in the far east.

Just got the invoice through & it's a week 50 machine W89507XXXXX.

Wow, that is dedication. I could not do that.

Especially as it seems a fair few iMacs start "fine" and then have display problems after 5-10 hours use. When mine arrives, even though its for Xmas, I'll be using it, not for fun, but to see if its a keeper. :(

Well OK maybe a little fun, but mostly anxiety!:p

i agree

And the fact that you need to do this is utterly ridiculous.

I'd characterise it more as very disappointing, but yes, too many problems and still no comment from Apple. I imagine they/the supply chain are working their butts off to fix the issues, but the "never admit anything" approach doesn't thrill me. :(

Personally I just don't fancy spending hours swapping over systems and setting it up "just right" only to have it fail on me.

But hey - maybe I'll be lucky :p

Or like me, fail AGAIN...

I was also initially confused when I saw that the parcel was sitting in Korea but after reading some other threads on MR it appears that the items have been shipped from China to Korea and its just some 'Data Processing' that occurred in Germany. Im taking a guess and assuming it is the processing of various documents to allow the cargo to enter the EU but I cant be sure. However the goods have not gone from China to Germany to Korea.

I just came to the same conclusion (otherwise UPS must be real idiots ;))
I Really hope they'll have it at my door tomorrow!
China-Korea in one day, they Korea-Germany(or so I assume)-the Netherlands in one day too!!

i7 shipped this morning!

Delivery scheduled for the 17th. iMac doesn't appear on my invoice yet, so I'll have to wait and see the model week.

Maybe having no clue what going on is a good thing then. :p
I'm still to get my tracking info "soon". Its been three days so I'm not holding my breath anymore.

Doesn't stop me from checking every hour tho'
