Run Photo Booth, then cover the camera to block all light. Dead or stuck pixels will become very easy to spot.

Yeah. Just use the black cleaning cloth the iMac comes with to cover the iSight.

And running a handbrake right now in 32 bit( since it won't work in 64 bit due to VLC not having a 64 bit version of its app yet) and the Core i7 is buzzing along through at 88% usage at 67 C and 30 minutes ETA. EDIT: Fans have kicked in and Core i7 is at 59 C. Left top corner is hot to the touch though.

Did you use Migration Assistant to transfer any data over? If you did, what machine did you transfer from (same OS?)?

Looks like your machine doesn't have any issues...hope it stays that way!

Didn't transfer anything yet. This iMac is replacing my parents old 20" iMac G5 2 Ghz(running Leopard). My dad doesn't want me to do anything yet because he has important things on the computer right now so he can't risk a screw up if something goes wrong. Plus, I want to go through and clean things out of it before I do the file transfer because a lot of stuff is left over from the older Powermac G4 and OS 9.

Mine does have a slight yellow tinge. Though compared to my 17" MBP, it looks a lot worse because the MBP screen is cooler overall. And despite the 17" MBP being LED as well, it looks washed out and dull compared to the 27" screen.

My i7/8GB/2TB ordered a week ago exactly arrived this morning just after 10 a.m. No cracks on the screen! Have not powered it up yet since I have work to do, but will power it up later on and report back with hopefully a clean bill of health! But, the cracked screen was my biggest concern and that is not an issue. I hope others are having safe screen arrivals too.

It is still sitting in Anchorage showing no movement.

It shipped on the 15th and is still in transit.

Well, I ordered a I7 on 10 December. The Apple site says it will ship 24 December and arrive 30 December. That's been constant each time I've checked. So far, Apple has hit my credit card for Apple Care, and for what I'm guessing is a $1.00 placeholder for the I7.

Should I set up a return for defects now, or wait until it actually arrives?

Just ordered my iMac i7 and it is showing a Dec. 31 ship date with a Jan. 6th delivery. I have my fingers crossed that it shows up early and with out any of the issues. I could make up my mind between the i5 and i7.

Just want to report back after 4 hours of use the HD has quieted down.

Maybe due to Time Machine indexing? Unlikely because it's a new machine, but just a guess.

Haven't hooked it up to the old iMac's external HD yet. It was most likely spotlight indexing. It quieted it down after roughly 15 minutes of use I believe.
