For those who have their iMac stucked in Cologne (or Koeln) I've just called UPS and it seems that they really had a problem with a plane. They have 7000 orders stuck in kazakhstan for an undefined period of time.
So we'll have to be really patient.

damn this is a bummer, I thought it was just the UK had problems and used a 'Snow on the rails' statement, hope that it isn't snow in the airspace thats holding up my i7.

To be honest I think its best to take what UPS say with a pinch of salt! I have called twice. The first time I spoke to a dude that told me its still stuck in China which I didnt believe to be the case as the tracking info on UPS' own website is completely different, so I just said "I'll call back and speak to someone else as I find what you say hard to believe considering your systems say something else". I didnt get angry but just didnt want to waste my time with a lazy call centre operative. I called back and the second chap was much more helpfull and seemed quite confident in what he was saying saying in that originally they were suppose to go via Germany but the flight was missed so the were re-routed via Poland and I should have my iMac by tomorrow (18th).

Now Khazakhstan is being mentioned and thrown into the mix! lol im beginning to think its better to be in ABG's position and be blisfully ignorant of the tracking info. Nevertheless I have every confidence it will get here pretty soon and will have to pass the time with Forza 3!

One positive note is that Apple finally charged my card today which was a relief as I was getting worried and at least it confirms (in my mind at least!) that delivery should be sooner rather than later.

I wasn't bothering until I had emails that started to say it would be coming.

So far I've had to work from home to receive:
a remote !! 1 day
an apple care kit !! 1 day

As for Forza 3 - shame the GT5 isn't here YET... oh well, I'll just have to do the GT 5 time trial demo that came out today :)

If you're in Indy and will arrive at 1:34 AM CST, then yes there is a pretty good chance of it being delivered.

Dec 17, 2009 8:13 AM At dest sort facility INDIANAPOLIS, IN
Dec 17, 2009 8:13 AM Departed FedEx location INDIANAPOLIS, IN
Dec 17, 2009 7:01 AM On FedEx vehicle for delivery INDIANAPOLIS, IN
Dec 17, 2009 6:55 AM At local FedEx facility INDIANAPOLIS, IN
Dec 17, 2009 1:42 AM Arrived at FedEx location INDIANAPOLIS, IN

You know when they say less is more.

It means less information is more stressful :p

I have some progress. The bit on my order page that says "return items" is now active, so I'm guessing that the i7 must be getting nearer!

I just hope the first notification I get isn't a "no-one at residence, returned to depot".

Well at least your not relying on UPS for that delivery! lol

Im guessing its on the same transit route as everyone else I dont even want to contemplate a "no-one at residence" issue.....I am in a fortunate position of no work commitments for the next 2 weeks, I have no excuse!

I hope it comes tomorrow. Getting it delivered to work & I'm working from home next week.

Is it possible to get the shipping address changed once it's in transit [stuck on a plane in Eastern Europe somewhere]?

3 dead pixels

Unpacked i7 yesterday night. W50 no yellow tinge (or very-very saddle). However 3 dead pixels in the middle of the screen clearly visible on black background and not noticeable on any other colours or while using iMac normally. No HD noise, no high pitch sound, no other screen issues. Few dead pixels in iSight chip (no big deal).

Calling Apple to get replacement. Still LOVE this machine!

K

FedX Internation Priority Phone Number

Hi guys....thought I would pass this info along....if you are waiting on a i7 and it says Shanghi, Ch and its been in that activity state for awhile ....you can call Fed Ex at 1-800-455-4588.....this is their Priority International Shipping....turns out my i7 is stuck in Shanghi ....the delivery date was suppose to be tomorrow....doesn't look like that is going to happen...so....if your in that boat you can get status info from them....:(

Hi Folks,

I just received my iMac 27" i5 2TB at work. Just set everything up, ran a few tests (pixel, yellow tinge etc.). Seems that everything is perfect to me. Sadly I cant really test the hard drive noise (too loud environment)which drove me mad on my last unit . But for the rest I`m really happy and cant wait to use it at home!

For info: its a Week 50.

So you don't see the yellow at all really or it's minor? Congratulations!! You have one amazing machine there.

I called and they sent me a picture of the guy who's going to fly with the iMac - they said he's sure to get it to me with no problems... there's even a guy called Wilson on the plane :)

No offense, but my experience when calling the tracking folks at Fedex or UPS is that they don't know any more than what is on the web site. Further, their delivery drives get backed up this time of year and don't always get to everyone for whom they have packages the day they are supposed to get there.

Understood....and you are correct....the lady who answered the call tried to be as helpful as she could but I think she was looking at the same screen you can see on the tracking website....she unfortunately couldn't tell me what the hold up was....so.....

Thanks I also think I got lucky this time. It could be that there is some slight yellowish color in the middle of the screen (when I look at the test image provided in the other thread). But its really hard to tell. I will have a closer look at it when I`m at home. I will give some feedback as soon as possible.

Regards
