Waiting for 27" Quad to SHIP thread

Replacement unit

How long did it take for anyone who has their iMac i7 replaced? I just talked to Apple Canada and got following update in my Order Status:

Returns Pending - Return initiated on Dec 17, 2009 by Apple
Must be received by: Dec 31, 2009

Not yet shipped (this is about replacement unit)
Product IMAC 27"/4850-512MB
Ships: 4 Jan
Delivers: 7 Jan

That long!!??? I was under impression people are getting their replacements in 3-5 business days! :-(((

iMac is up and running! No cracked screen or flickering to report of right now. Screen seems pretty perfect to me, doesn't seem yellow at the bottom at all.

This is one beautiful machine. Wow.
 
It arrived! I missed the initial delivery, but fedex driver was kind enough to drop it here half an hour later.
It's my first Mac and so far I don't see any problems with it. A pure piece of art. Well, it's slightly yellowish at the bottom, but nothing I would really complain about, though I'm a photographer.
Yes, and the first thing I thought when unpacked it was "man, it's HUGE!".
It feels like Christmas already :)
 
I am currently being shipped to my iMac that is sitting at home waiting for me - stopover in Charlotte then on my way home!
 
24 hours later no flicker so far. Though it seems I got one dead pixel in the screen which I swear wasn't there when I tested it yesterday. Oh well, the pixels on this thing are so small, it is hard to pick up one dead pixel unless A) you know where it is B) are looking for it. So far not enough to risk a replacement.....

Unpacked i7 yesterday night. W50 no yellow tinge (or very-very saddle). However 3 dead pixels in the middle of the screen clearly visible on black background and not noticeable on any other colours or while using iMac normally. No HD noise, no high pitch sound, no other screen issues. Few dead pixels in iSight chip (no big deal).

Calling Apple to get replacement. Still LOVE this machine!

The "dead pixels" turned out to be 3 light dots in 2 files I created in paint.net on Windowz. How they got there - I have no idea...

Anyway, looks like i7 found its home...

its been all day and DHL status is "with delivery courier "

it cant take that long in place like singapore. DHL sucks

Thats also what they told me but as of this morning, UPS tracking info shows its in Manchester and on route to be delivered. I guess i'll now by this evening if its the case....or may be sooner!

I've got the same as usual. Nothing. Which means I'm still waiting for FedEx to tell me what happened to my iMac, my ice skates and my volleyball.:p
 
Its here! Just signed for it. Will report back later (much later!) on the condition of the beast as I wont be able to unbox for a couple hours as I have to be somewhere......but for now im content that its infront of me!

(inwardly feels like the N64 kid but is outwardly is acting reserved so the wife doesnt thing im a nutter)
 
Hmmmm....I just noticed that Apple last night "banged" my credit card for my iMac, which isn't scheduled to be shipped until 24 December. I thought the usual policy was not to charge the card for the full amount until the product was shipped.

I am waiting now for 5 days since my status changed to "Shipped". CC has been charged, but no sign of a tracking number. Where is my week 50 iMac? Kazaksthan? Cologne? Stuck in a truck in the snow somewhere in Europe? Grrrr i want some info :mad: ;)
 
Well it arrived .. but grrr...!! 3 dead pixels clumped slap bang centre of the screen... I'll have to run this past the rest of the tribe to see what they think. Wives are a good gauge for what should be acceptable.

grrr ! first iMac since using the first macintosh all those years ago.. not impressed so far.
