Its here! Just signed for it. Will report back later (much later!) on the condition of the beast as I wont be able to unbox for a couple hours as I have to be somewhere......but for now im content that its infront of me!

(inwardly feels like the N64 kid but is outwardly is acting reserved so the wife doesnt thing im a nutter)

Congrats :D

Well it arrived .. but grrr...!! 3 dead pixels clumped slap bang centre of the screen... I'll have to run this past the rest of the tribe to see what they think. Wives are a good gauge for what should be acceptable.

grrr ! first iMac since using the first macintosh all those years ago.. not impressed so far.

Ok NOT dead pixels but 3 pixel sized dirt particles on the inside of the glass. It's obvious to see when the default background is displayed as the image can be see behind them when moving around the dirt particles.
'Still a pain' says the wife and 'get it sorted !'

Grab a couple of suction cups and pull the glass... Spray some canned air. If that doesn't work, you can use Windex (the one with vinegar in it) and dry it with newspaper (no streaks). This worked well with my 24" - it had the same dirt specks.

I've been watching this post with great interest, and watching so many people get their systems already, even many who ordered well after me.

I ordered my 27" i7 1TB 8GB RAM on 12/3, was supposed to ship 12/17 with delivery by 12/24.
Well 12/17 came and went and this morning my status changed to "ships in 4-6 business days"

Is this happening to many others?
The fun of waiting...

Just wanted to post that I opened up my i7 and everything is working great - we will see what happens with the HD and the yellow tinge (slight at the bottom) but for now I am pretty happy

Thanks for the advice, I'll check out the logistics of it - this might be tricky for me as we got a couple of hairy dogs which means there's always some sort of hair particle floating in the air around the house. It could end up worse than it already is :(.
I'll find the thread I saw a few weeks back regarding a visible hand print - as the suction cups were also mentioned then. Cheers, signing off from the 'waiting shipment' thread (for now) :)

It's here.....

It arrived this moorning.
I used it 1 hour only, but all is fine in it. No crashed screen, no dead pixels, no noise, etc. All is fine.

The screen is fantastic.

I have not noticed any issues so far - I'll report any issues if necessary. Im gonna have to migrate to the 'Xbox 360 input on iMac' thread now as getting that up and running is next on my hit list!

Gotta say Handbrake is on STEROIDS on this thing!

I just ordered an i7/1TB drive today. Apple rep said they were beating expectations, although it's still being tagged as 2 weeks for shipping. Like so many others, I'm hoping the problems are resolved or I get lucky. The wait starts...now.

Ok, I've started to get impatient...anyone who ordered on December 12th heard anything yet?

I do know it's a bit early but, well... :D

Ordered the 11the (replacement) and it already has been shipped. I7 standard.

A replacement...ok, I can stomach that one--I'd be surprised if you weren't sent to the head of the queue!

So perhaps there'll be some movement over the weekend. Here's hoping!

Looks like no-one is waiting now...

...except me of course.

8 days in transit and still no shipping info. I know China is quite a distance from the UK but it seems my iMac is going the long way round.

Is your order being "Merged In Transit"? - if so you'll get the final courier tracking info literally the night before it's delivered (possibly 48 hours). If you've been waiting this long would not be surprised if you get it Monday/Tuesday.

Yes - merged in transit.

Its the lack of warning that's the worst thing (not the length of time its taking). My last iMac I found out on the day of delivery when it was due to arrive. On that occasion I was at work and it was due to be delivered to work so it was no problem. However, arranging to be home to accept an all day delivery range with almost no notice isn't easy. :(

Its also annoying to spend 8 days seeing a message saying shipping details will be updated "soon". Apple could be a little more accurate and have a note saying they can only give 24 hours notice of deliveries.

Mine is planned for delivery for tomorrow, this is on the Apple site:

Shipped to ZUTENDAAL, BE 17 Dec 2009
Estimated Delivery Date (Subject to change) 21 Dec 2009
Current Delivery Status In transit to destination country - next updates expected in 4-5 business days 19 Dec 2009

On the UPS site there's:
KOELN (COLOGNE), DE 20/12/2009 15:27 PACKAGE DATA PROCESSED BY BROKERAGE. WAITING FOR CLEARANCE / RELEASED BY CLEARING AGENCY. NOW IN-TRANSIT FOR DELIVERY
INCHEON, KR 20/12/2009 10:44 DEPARTURE SCAN
20/12/2009 7:34 ARRIVAL SCAN
SHANGHAI, CN 20/12/2009 5:25 DEPARTURE SCAN
20/12/2009 4:50 DEPARTURE SCAN
KOELN (COLOGNE), DE 19/12/2009 13:31 PACKAGE DATA PROCESSED BY BROKERAGE. WAITING FOR CLEARANCE
SHANGHAI, CN 19/12/2009 20:06 EXPORT SCAN
SHANGHAI, CN 17/12/2009 17:54 ORIGIN SCAN
CN 17/12/2009 4:50 BILLING INFORMATION RECEIVED

BUT on the UPS site, there's an exeption, 2nd time during the journey of the iMac.

So what do you guys and girls think, tomorrow delivery or not?

Soon baby, soon.

Ordered i7 8GB on December 12th to be merged with remote in UK (if I had realised that ordering the remote would delay the delivery then I should have left that for another day).

December 15th, 'In transit' (yes). December 19th, 'Being prepared for handover to final carrier' (come to daddy). December 20th, 'In transit to customer' (ooh ooh I can almost smell it).

Still no carrier name or tracking number. Lady at Apple told me on 18th that because of merging, very little detail will be shown until the packages arrive.

I had exactly the same scenario and would totally agree that this is something Apple could easily improve on.

My Dec 3rd i7/8GB/1TB system FINALLY reached "Prepared for shipment" status.
It is feeling a little more like Christmas this morning :)

Now to get ready to play a round of "Which flight am I on"

Interesting story (to me at least).

I ordered my 27inch i7 iMac on November 30th. A few days after ordering I realized that delivery would most likely occur while I was out of town.

I tried to call Apple and delay shipping to a later date. They said FedEx will try to deliver 3 times and then take it back to the sorting facility. I told them I would not be there and after the first time if they tried, just take it back to the sorting facility. They would not oblige and said it is basically in FedEx's hands once shipped.

So I called FedEx and gave them all the pertinent information, my name, tracking number, etc. Told them I would not be in town during my estimated date of delivery and that I would like to pick it up and the sorting facility once I get back in town. This apparently did not register with them. Ended up hanging up the phone frustrated.

End result. FedEx attempts to deliver my iMac on December 14th (four days ahead of schedule) and of course I am not in town. This is where I about flip out. They delivered my $2k computer to my neighbor, which I may add was a neighbor I had never met before. You can only imagine the horror on my face when I check the tracking number only to see "Delivered" and it signed for by someone I do not know. Had to look up that person's name in the phone book, call them, and explain to them why FedEx delivered them a package of mine. What really irks me though is I did not authorize anyone other than myself to sign for the computer. Now it may have been an oversight on my part, but I did not select Direct signature, but I dont remember an option for that.

Anyways, iMac was fine. Neighbors had it waiting on me when I got back in town.

nothing yet...ordered mine on the morning of the 12th, still set to SHIP on the 29th and to be delivered on the 6th. am i wrong in thinking that's an awful long time? i feel like an antsy little kid haha

Ordered mine on the 10th, still set to SHIP on the 24th, and to be delivered on the 30th. Since my son goes back to school with or without it on the 2nd, I have a chance to use it for a few months... :D

Second one.

I'm waiting for my second i7 to ship - called on friday and got the authorization for the swap (it was a royal pain, but I got it done).

Haven't received shipping info, or any sort of estimate as to when the replacement would ship out either. Weirdness. Will post again when I have more info.

...what, precisely?

In a box and waiting for a shipping label? :D

My I7, ordered 9/10 December, is now "ready for shipment."

Great!!! :) Mine was ordered the same day, but is still "Prepared for Shipment", ships Dec 24.....

UPDATE - just got the email - supposed to arrive Dec 23!!!

Dec 21, 2009 10:11 AM Picked up SHANGHAI CN
