After a week waiting finally got this morning a tracking number, but no info yet other than Billing Received. It is scheduled to be deliverd on the 24th, but I am hoping now for tomorrow or the day after tomorrow; I know it is in the country, but there's snow everywhere...

Just received mine. Looks like less yellow than my first. No dead pixels, I'm going to do the test in a moment.

This one is a week 51 iMac.

Mine just Arrived!!

I'm at work work and won't be home until later tonight. I'm glad it only took a MONTH to get it. Hope there aren't any problems. I don't want to wait for a replacement because of issues.

I'll give an update as soon as I open it up tonight.

December 16 order - who has tracking info?

I ordered a 27" i7 on December 16th. It still shows as shipping December 31, delivery January 6th. Does anyone have tracking info yet that ordered on December 16th?

Thanks,

-Verxion

I ordered on the 12th and am still waiting for any sign of movement on my original "Ships 29th, Arrives 4th" estimate. :(

Verxion, I also ordered my i7 on the Dec. 16th. Still no change in the shipping date of December 31, delivery January 6th. I suspect that it wont change until the end of the week or possibly early next week. If I see any change i'll post it right away. :apple::D

today, after seeing macmall's twiitter feed announcing they had imac27 quad i7s in stock for holiday delivery, i called to check the status of my black friday order...

shipped today!

Well, finally some movement...Apple just took their money from my bank account. I'm hoping that means some news on shipping readiness isn't far off... :)

well my i7 finally arrived. Shipped on the 12th, no specific updates as of 0:30am this morning. I log on this morning, and check at 8am to see its being delivered today! Had I not happened to have a day booked off work I would have been screwed.

Anyway - I've unboxed it and the screen is in one piece so its off to a good start. I'll let it get closer to ambient temperature than it currently is (sub-zero outside today) and then see if it boots. If it gets past that I'll consider moving it upstairs to where its intended to be used.

I guess it'll be a few days before I find out if I post an update message in the problems threads or the "Its OK" threads.

Let us know if everything is OK. Specifically, if you could, just tick off one by one from this little list of problems I'm keeping:

1)Screen - Stuck/Dead pixels
2)Screen - Flickering screen, with brief blackouts
3)Screen - Yellow smudge at the bottom/elsewhere
4)Screen - LED backlight bleeding through in corners when screen is dark/black
5)Screen - High pitch whine from screen at max brightness after 30 minutes; also after turning down brightness by 30%
6)Screen - Dust or fingerprints trapped behind the monitor glass
7)iSight - Dead pixels
8)iMac as external monitor function not working
9)Noisy HDD - clicking or whirring, rumbling and whining
10)Constantly running fans at high volume
11)Intermittent hiss from external speakers hooked up
12)Frequent beachballs, despite not many programs running
13)Slow boot up
14)Airport problems
15)Bad USB ports

That's the checklist I'm gonna go through once my iMac arrives.

That's some checklist! :D
I'll report back - so far its just some off the cuff observations...

HDD noise - mostly silent, Running migration assistant got it quietly rumbling but it was still negligable.

Screen:
Noise - I ran the screen full brightness from intial startup and didn't experience any problems or noise. Reduced it down a bit once I realised I hadn't adjusted it to about 60% and it was still fine.
Pixels: Can't see any dead or stuck but there's a lot of area to cover!
Yellow tinge: I'm not planning to run the grey bar thing - all I want to know is if I see it under normal conditions. I can't (so far).
Flickering: There were a couple of times when I thought something had happened to the screen - it was a little like when it darkens before going to power save. Can't be sure as I wasn't looking at the screen directly both times it happened. Moving the mouse didn't brighten it back up (as happens with screen darkening before PS). At the time I thought I was just imagining it, but I suspect there may be more to it. :(

Airport is working fine, the other stuff I haven't had enough time with the machine to say for sure. Generally it looks fantastic and works fine, but then I haven't done much other than do a transfer from my 24" iMac and run the usual updates (including the screen flicker firmware one).

I'll report back once I've used it for a while longer. At the moment I'm not counting my chickens... these boards have quite a few people delighted that their imac is perfect on delivery only to say a few days later than its developed a problem.

I got mine on Monday! Perfect condition, as of now no yellow tinge, no dead pixels, no HD noise, no screen flicker (after Video Card FW update, before there was flicker). It does run hot, but just at the top where the vent is, which is expected. What surprised me is how quiet it is; of course I havent don much that would tax the CPU and ramp up the fans, but still it's silent. I am Seriously impressed. I'll give updates if anything changes, but I've used it for almost 12 hours (actual use) and haven't seen any problems. I'm loving it. Oh...by the way it's a week 50.

1)Screen - Stuck/Dead pixels / NONE
2)Screen - Flickering screen, with brief blackouts / NONE (after FW Update)
3)Screen - Yellow smudge at the bottom/elsewhere / I can't tell at all...so...NONE
4)Screen - LED backlight bleeding through in corners when screen is dark/black / Haven't noticed.
5)Screen - High pitch whine from screen at max brightness after 30 minutes; also after turning down brightness by 30% / NOPE
6)Screen - Dust or fingerprints trapped behind the monitor glass / NOPE
7)iSight - Dead pixels / Couldn't fine one
8)iMac as external monitor function not working / Haven't been able to try it yet.
9)Noisy HDD - clicking or whirring, rumbling and whining / NOPE
10)Constantly running fans at high volume / Silent
11)Intermittent hiss from external speakers hooked up / NOPE
12)Frequent beachballs, despite not many programs running / Sometimes, but not much if even at all.
13)Slow boot up / Boot's SCREAMING FAST
14)Airport problems / Haven't used it at all...yet
15)Bad USB ports / Don't think so :)

Week 52 on its way!

I just got notification that my replacement is on its way, a week 52. Should be here Monday or Tue. I'll report back when I've gone over it with a fine-toothed comb. Keep yer fingers crossed for me!

So a week 52 looks good, great

I am guessing that my replacement is going to be a week 01 or week 02 2010 build.

Let's hope the new year brings less defects and better quality.

My Dec 3rd order (i7, 1TB, 8GB RAM) is on the truck for delivery! :D
I can't believe the wait is almost over.

Shanghai, Anchorage, Memphis, Seattle...

My i5 is on the truck for delivery too! It is a replacement for my 24" early 2009 iMac that recently stopped working. Frankly, I don't have my hopes up that this one will be problem-free, but I'll report back with the "checklist" later...

There, here, over there and back again!!!

We ordered a stock iMac i7 on Dec 11th. Was not supposed to be shipped until Dec 28th for delivery on Jan 3rd. Yesterday I watched the shipping info change from "Not yet shipped" to "Preparing to ship" to "Shipped". It's being sent via FedEx. On their site I watched as they recieved my iMac in Shanghai. Today it arrived in Anchorage, AK. I am ecstatic. I live a short distance from there. However, I'll have to sit back and watch it leave here and go to Memphis to be sorted. Depending on how long that takes, it will be sent back to Alaska for delivery to me!!!

:eek::confused::):apple:

UPDATE:

Darn it! My iMac was on the Fedex truck for delivery since 10am this morning and I waited around all day for it. After 7pm, I began to doubt whether it would arrive or not. I checked tracking again and the package is now back at our local facility. So I called the phone number and asked what was going on. Apparently, the driver was not able to delivery all of his packages and will attempt again tomorrow. This is the first time I've ever had a package delayed because the driver couldn't get them all delivered, but I guess it's understandable because it's so close to Christmas.

At any rate, I'm disappointed and just hope tomorrow is THE day... otherwise it won't be until after Christmas.

Wow, you sure have a lot to worry about! Well, while you're stressing out with a magnifying glass, many others will be enjoying their new iMac experience...
