Waiting for 27" Quad to SHIP thread

Just received 2nd Imac (first had +++screen flickering) and it's DOA!!!!

Both systems were i7's, quite frustrating......after 1-2 hours of negotiation, was offered the 1-2 TB HD upgrade at a cost of $112 canadian vs. free ipod shuffle. I wasn't too keen on paying, but it's better than nothing. hope everyone else's luck is better

I have fired up my new Core i7 and used it for about an hour, tried a DVD, used Elgato, downloaded updates, etc. Have not noticed any issues so far, knock on wood. So, for now, it would seem that my unit is A-OK and I hope that everyone else's is too who gets one soon.

Week 50 unit, just in case anyone wants to know; i7/8GB/2TB. Oh, and the Hitachi hard drive. Not as good as WD, but at least it's not the Seagate! So, I'm pleased enough with it.

How do you check what brand the drive is?

Go to the Apple Menu in the upper left corner, choose "About this Mac", and in the tree list to the left, under the section Hardware, select "Serial-ATA", and you'll see the specs of your hard drive.

After about 6 hours use, it's so far so good... I can see or hear none of the various problems we've been reading about.
I just hope things stay this way. If they do, I'll be VERY happy!

Good news. My replacement comes tomorrow and I'll give everyone a full report.

No sign of any movement with my order...I know I didn't order until the 12th but, given all the early shipment posts here, was rather hopeful. Perhaps tomorrow. I certainly don't want to wait until January 4th for delivery like it's suggesting!

If you're in Indy and will arrive at 1:34 AM CST, then yes there is a pretty good chance of it being delivered.

Not good.

Given that Apple keep your money while they sort out and send replacements it seems a cheek to charge you for a HDD upgrade. 2 failed iMacs and they ought to be jumping through hoops to stop you cancelling IMO.

You should have the updated delivery details and tracking number by this time tomorrow. Mine was on "Prepared for Shipment" status for a full day. Then things happened very quickly. Hope you get it before Christmas!

I also hope so. The defective one (yellow screen) will return next wednesday. Also hope that the new one is better...

Hi Folks,

I just received my iMac 27" i5 2TB at work. Just set everything up, ran a few tests (pixel, yellow tinge etc.). Seems that everything is perfect to me. Sadly I cant really test the hard drive noise (too loud environment)which drove me mad on my last unit . But for the rest I`m really happy and cant wait to use it at home!

For info: its a Week 50.
