This is my first post to mac rumors, but I wanted to share my experience as a first time Mac buyer. So here goes:

I ordered my 27" quad core i7 on Jan. 27th and they gave me a February 18 ship date and delivery date of February 23. Right after I ordered it, as most of you know, the 3 week ship time dropped to 2 weeks. Well, I got an email on February 5, a Friday, saying it had shipped from Shanghai. (it's a week 6 machine, BTW) Well, amazingly, I got it Monday morning at 9am. I live in Chicago. So, it went from Shanghai on Friday, to Anchorage, to Memphis, then to Chicago in three days. As you can imagine, I was a very happy boy.

So far, as I can tell, there is no yellow tinge and no flickering. The box was well shipped without hardly a dented corner.

I didn't think I was going to do this, but I wanted to start off being a Mac fan boy the right way. So, I have made an unboxing video that really captures the emotional experience of getting my first Mac. BTW, I edited it with Final Cut Pro, but you'll have to forgive my lack of editing prowess as I've never used the program before. Enjoy!

Alright so here is the verdict. Beautiful machine. Huge box. I didn't expect it to be so big because at the apple store it seemed small. It is just breath taking. No problems so far. No buzzing. I thought i saw a yellow tint in beginning but i guess my head was playing games with me because when i restarted it was perfect. Beautiful machine. Updating software and stuff on it. Will post soon. Let me know if you guys have any questions!

Um, I'm happy for you, but your video is a bit on the weird and inappropriate side.

Excellent, I'm happy for you. But I do have a question. This forum focuses a lot on the yellow tinged screens but no one mentions a dead or stuck pixel. That's the one thing I can't handle, it drives me crazy. My week 5 i7 iMac arrived last week with a pixel perfect screen. How's yours?

Dude. that unboxing video is the best one i've seen of the Imac 27 so far!! It's not the cliche unboxing videos that we see all the time. Dropping the boxers was gross.. but it was hilarious =D

I will agree with you about the gross part. I don't mind comedy, it does make the unboxing video more fun as some of them are stale, but this one's a bit over the top. :D

It wasn't over the top at all to me, maybe your moralities are a bit conservative compared to mine.

Well I have my final tracking details, and my iMac should be delivered tomorrow 12th February.

Thats 15 days since it was ordered (28th Jan) and 7 days since the item was shipped from China (5th Feb.)

Not bad considering when I ordered there was supposidly a 3 week wait for shipping - and when shipped the delivery date was scheduled to be 18th Feb!

That unboxing video was surprisingly entertaining. Until the end. Gross.

Jk.

We want pictures! White screen, black screen, lights on, lights off, bring it on :D

That was very funny. I got a chuckle out of it several times. Nice job and congrates on the i7.

Best, covrc

The week 7 I ordered finally reached anchorage, and tracking info said it left their fedex office up there and is in transit starting 6:34 my time (1 hour ago)

They should be able to fly it down here to san antonio within 14 hours, but knowing them, they're probably trucking it down or will take their time with the flight :S

Estimated delivery's still the 15h, but I'm rooting for tomorrow.

No dead pixels, no noise, no yellow tinge. It's simply perfect!

Dude, that was a funny video!
(good quality too)

LMAO....

Mine just arrived, having shipped a week early (so only one week delay). I don't believe mine has the yellow tinge (Week 80 if I am reading the code right - W80), but if it does, it is so subtle as to be almost subjective in the far right corner.

I don't believe mine has the yellow tinge (Week 07 of 2010 if I am reading the code right - W8007), but if it does, it is so subtle as to be almost subjective in the far right corner so I voted "good" because to be honest, it might be something I think I see because I expect to see it.

27" i7, 4GB RAM from UK apple store

Ordered: 23 Jan
Original expected ship date: 15 Feb
Original expected delivery date: On or before 24 Feb
Actual ship date: Today (5 Feb)
New estimated delivery date: 19 Feb

Week 6 machine. Fingers crossed...

Machine took me a bit by surprise by arriving yesterday. Screen looks great and no buzzing. Having a few issues with migration assistant from my old powerbook 12" but that's probably because the powerbook's jealous it's now been so massively upstaged...
